The Black Crowes – Hard To Handle Lyrics | 8 years ago |
Both Redding and Black Crows sing "gets around". It's clear when you listen to the recordings. I know "Yes I am" would make contextually more sense, but those aren't the lyrics. It's weird how every lyrics site reports the same in spite of clear audio. |
Live – Run To The Water Lyrics | 9 years ago |
@[SangyeDolma:1650] Indeed. Actually the song speaks to me as an atheist. The lyrics are strongly agnostic. As I interpret it he's saying he will treat this world as the one reality until he knows differently. "'til your deepest secrets are known to me I will not be moved " |
Skunk Anansie – Twisted Lyrics | 9 years ago |
How you get that from a song about heartache is beyond me. |
Maroon 5 – This Love Lyrics | 9 years ago |
I hate this song. The lyrics are wrong. He's singing: "she's said goodbye too many "time" before". Yes, he drops the "s" in "times" for no reason whatsoever. And no, I can't can't over it. What's the reason for purposely mangling the language for no seemingly artistic end?? It seems like a pretentious liberty, probably seemed clever to Adam Levine, but it's not. It's just annoying. |
David Gray – Forever Is Tomorrow Is Today Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I can't stand this song. The lyrics just seem pretentious to me. But I might be cynical. It's the line "I'd rather die of fun" that really gets me, it's nonsensical. Just seems to be there to make it rhyme. |
Ramones – I Wanna Be Sedated Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Lol, I always heard "I want a pice of lead" |
Wilco – Shouldn't Be Ashamed Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Awesome comment. I concur. |
Tool – Right in Two Lyrics | 10 years ago |
That line puzzled me. Your explanation makes total sense, thank you for your comment, and I agree although this song seems rooted in the bible, it's about human nature, not Christianity as such. |
Live – Waitress Lyrics | 10 years ago |
You are absolutely right. This song is very literal and straight-forward. I don't like it when people over-analyze a lyric when there is absolutely no call to do so. Waitresses need money even when they're having a crappy day, full stop. |
The Hollies – He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Originally I thought like many this was a song about caring for a disabled or lost brother, but that doesn't make sense looking at the lyrics in context. "While we're on our way to there, why not share" "his welfare is my concern." - These lines speak of social conscience and selfless love and service to those less fortunate than us. We are all siblings sharing this earth for the brief time we get here. |
Death Cab for Cutie – A Lack of Color Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I have to strongly disagree with everyone who think's this sentence is to be taken strongly litteral. I think he is describing the conflict between how his heart feels about her (heart-broken, maybe anger), and how his brain knows she really is.(he understands his part in the break-up) |
My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics | 13 years ago |
lol I wish I could go back and correct my singular/plural confusion in that post but whatever |
My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Aenema91 is right on. This song is about the kids who dress in black and don't want to conform, and get bullied by their envionment from parents, teachers and other kids in the "popular crowd". "What you got under your shirt will make them pay for the things that they did" is a reference to school shootings. The verse is describing a kid getting bullied by the clique and then bringing a gun to school. when he sings "maybe they'll leave you alone but not me" I believe the singer means that the kid can act violent and dress differently to try and intimidate their surroundings to leave them alone, but the singer understands where he is coming from and can empathize. He is saying even though you kid feel alone, I have been there once too, and I understand the problems. I'd like to echo those trying to correct the lyrics: "DARKEN your clothes OR strike a violent pose" These are the lyrics that make contextual sense and furthermore it's what he actually sings. |
My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics | 13 years ago |
what you've got under your shirt will make them pay.... just freaking think for a second. What is it you can conceal under your shirt that can dish out punishment? Bodyfat? A concealed weapon? hmmm.... I don't understand how far someone needs to go to spell it out for you, but to me the lyrics are self-explanatory. |
Built to Spill – Car Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Too bad the most recent posts show last. I think you nailed it. |
Built to Spill – Car Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I also agree on this opinion. I'd like to point out the song is more depressive than some readers appreciate: "If I don't die or worse I'm gonna need a nap at best I'll be asleep when you get back" He is tired and experiences moods worse than death to him. I think the narrator in the song is troubled by existence. He doesn't have the answers, but he is obviously not happy about it either. This mood is underlined with the minor keys in the melody. He does at the same time wish to see joy and meaning for the person he sings to, even though he is struggling to achieve it himself. |
Queens of the Stone Age – Go With The Flow Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think you're right. To simplify: It's better to have loved and lost (lose), then never to have loved at all (hesitate). |
