Jason Mraz – I Won't Give Up Lyrics 12 years ago
I think one line of these lyrics is incorrect. I think that

And in the end, you're still my friend at least we didn't tend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn

should be

And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn

I could be wrong, but that line makes more sense to me - "at least we did intend for us to work" - it's like saying that we had good intentions and at least we tried our best to make it work. This song has been making my heart hurt all day. I love it so much.

The Rolling Stones – Ruby Tuesday Lyrics 13 years ago
Keef said in his recent book that he wrote this song about the first girl who ever broke his heart; she is Ruby Tuesday. I forget her real name, but she was a really free spirit who would never settle down or stay in the same place for too long. He completely fell head-over-heels for her and they lived together for a little while in London in the 60s. The Stones went out on tour and when they got back, she had totally moved on and he was heartbroken, but not at all surprised because that was just her way. Ever since I read that story, this song took on a whole new feeling for me, and now I think it's just such a sad song, but so sweet at the same time.

What ztraycat said is partly what I was thinking, too.

I think there are definite references to drugs and sex in the song, but it's also about making music.

This was a great choice as the lead off track on this album, because it sort of summarizes the whole experience of recording the album: a whirlwind of sex, drugs and rock & roll. With a killer horn section. ;)

Greta is right.

Keef said in his book that he wrote this as a lullaby for Marlon, but when they went to record it, Mick changed the lyrics around and made it about Marianne instead.

Check out my comment on When The Come for Me - I feel like that track is LP's response to all the idiots on YouTube. Maybe that's just me. ;)

Yeah, it's a pretty solid call to arms against government control. And it totally rocks.

This song is a brilliant ending for this album. I love the feeling of love and hope that is sums everything up with.

And I completely agree with Callum - Chester's voice is totally laid bare and he's doing what he does best. It's great.

Linkin Park – When They Come For Me Lyrics 13 years ago
I can't help thinking that this song is a little bit directed at all the negative comments that LP has gotten from fans that don't like the new direction the band has been taking. That whole first rap, anyway, and especially the lines

"Because even a blueprint is a gift and a curse
Because once you got a theory of how the thing works
Everybody wants the next thing to be like the first
And I'm not a robot, I'm not a monkey
I will not dance even if the beat's funky"

Like, they had a sort of blueprint song style with Hybrid Theory and Meteora, and it worked really well and sold them a lot of albums, but as soon as they started changing their style, people said the new stuff was no good, because it wasn't enough like those first two albums. But, no matter what people want, or negative comments they want to make, LP is going to keep doing what makes them feel good, despite what anybody says, and that's what this album is about for them.

"You ought to stop talking and try and catch up" - it's like the band saying, we're moving onward and upward and doing cooler and cooler shit, so why don't you all stop badmouthing it and try and keep up, because this is awesome.

Linkin Park – Waiting For The End Lyrics 13 years ago
I agree with the soldier before he leaves for war thing. But also with the soldier returning from war thing. Or it could be both.

I can see how it could be about the end of a relationship, too, I'm just not sure that goes with the themes in the rest of the album.

I LOVE this new album, and I'm pretty sure this is my favorite song on there. It might be a perfectly produced song. It flows so nice, it rolls, and I love the way it wraps you up and brings you with it.
