LCD Soundsystem – All My Friends Lyrics | 11 years ago |
everyone looks way too much into this song. The concept is simple. James Murphy has obviously written this song whilst on tour and it follows a night he spends with all his friends and he talks about how much he misses it. Throughout the entire song it is described that James and his friends have a bender (an all-nighter on drugs). read the lyrics, its very simple. |
Kings of Leon – Cold Desert Lyrics | 12 years ago |
In the same interview he explains that the song is an explanation of the problems that led him to havnig a drinking problem and that hearing this song was what made him realise he had a problem. He said the song was as if he were speaking to himself. Also his producer turned to him and said that one of the verses is how he's felt his whole life. caleb said he doesnt remember writing any of the lyrics except for the first verse but that all the lyrics are completely truth. |
The Killers – Jenny Was a Friend of Mine Lyrics | 12 years ago |
He's speaking of his girlfriend and it's describing him comforting her when she becomes hysteric in accusing him of cheating with this jenny girl. |
The Killers – Jenny Was a Friend of Mine Lyrics | 12 years ago |
He's speaking of his girlfriend and it's describing him comforting her when she becomes hysteric in accusing him of cheating with this jenny girl. |
The Killers – Jenny Was a Friend of Mine Lyrics | 12 years ago |
In my opinion you are way off. This song is just an entire metaphor (the way alot of songs are written), in which the accusations his current girlfriend is making towards him of cheating with this jenny girl is a metaphor for a darker crime. Every line in the song comes back to this idea. The first verse describes meeting his grilfriend and something nto being right with her. The second verse goes into the accusation that he cheated on her with jenny. "their aint no motive for this crime, jenny was a friend of mine" ^ saying to his girlfriend that he doesn't want jenny and that she's just a friend. "and then you whisper in my ear, i know what your doing here" ^ his girlfriend makes an accusation about him being there to see jenny. "I know my rights and ive been here all day and its time. for my to go so let me know if its alright" ^ hes saying he needs to leave this fight with his girlfriends accusations but he wants things to be alright when he politely asks. |
Lana Del Rey – Video Games Lyrics | 12 years ago |
in my opinion alot of this song relates back to famous women who are icons of sex or danger and their relationship with the paparazzi. The reference to this one man is a symbol for the paparazzi as a hole. I Cannot be bothered elaborating but if you closely look at the lyrics with this interpretation in mind, it makes plenty of sense. Also just my opinion |
The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics | 12 years ago |
this song seems so simple to me. He's just coming out of a breakup with a long time girlfriend. Then he goes out and starts enjoying himself but runs into this ex girlfriend and shes with another man. From seeing them kiss just once he leaves and then thinks about this whole scenario of them going home and he cant stand it. "lovesick lullabie" hes in bed and cant get this image out of his head of his girlfriend with this man. the hole verse describes this scenario. and all hes trying to look on the brightside of everything ebcause this sitation is making him so depressed. to me this seems like the only song meaning. |
The Killers – Jenny Was a Friend of Mine Lyrics | 12 years ago |
It's most definetly your second theory. the non-murder theory makes so much sense. hes just used this murder metaphor to make the song much more dynamic. |
Coldplay – The Scientist Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This seems accurate enough, however another spin on it may be, in my opinion. The song could be about a partner (wife maybe) is losing a battle with some kind of fatal disease and he can't accept the fact that there's a good chance shes going to die. the disease could have a 50% chance of ending her life and some of the lyrics support that idea aswell. if you read the lyrics with this in mind, it seems to make alot of sense |
Bloc Party – Like Eating Glass Lyrics | 13 years ago |
to me the song is about a broken home. maybe speaking from the male's point of view. the kids are staying home from school because the divorce is really hard on them the girls moved out and its so cold. you don't return my calls and you havent got the time to remember how it was - obvious reasons. For richer, for poorer, for better, for worse - obviously to do with marriage his broken heart is like eating glass or drinking poison |
British India – The Golden Years Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This song seems like its about an old friend whose lost his way with drugs and a crime lifestyle. snorting diamonds stealing cars dead end guy haven't seen you for months and months |
British India – Nowhere Boys Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"wake me up and send me away"*** |
The Jezabels – Mace Spray Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i can honestly say i have made no connection to any meaning in this song but there is definetly one. The chorus in this song is very heart wrenching and its a all round great song. one of jezabels best. |
Angus and Julia Stone – Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 13 years ago |
i agree completely, with the fact that the song is themed alot by nostalgia. he repeatedly says comments like "i lost my mind LONG AGO" |
Angus and Julia Stone – Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 13 years ago |
the spoon full of sugar has no reference to heroin im sorry and the yellow brick road is a special type of marijuana that is grown solely in california. |
Angus and Julia Stone – Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 13 years ago |
gay |
Angus and Julia Stone – Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Angus and Julia Stone – Just A Boy Lyrics | 13 years ago |
hahahahahahaha i liked the start of the comment "Man......". who the hell are you takling to? |
(+44) – When Your Heart Stops Beating Lyrics | 13 years ago |
yeah i was looking for this comment, its definetly about overdosing. it sounds like its about a girl that this guy has fallen for but they have a relationship where they do alot of drugs togethor. it sounds like the girl does a larger amount of drugs and he can see that |
The XX – Crystalised Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Although you make a number of good points, it seems quite obvious that the song is actually about crystal meth. |
José González – Crosses Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It seems that the song does talk about an accident but crosses can be a reference to crossing over. A term used for dying. This would be supported by the first verse. |
British India – It Happens All The Time Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I believe this song is about an aged couple that eventually separates. I feel that the man in the situation has been treating the woman very badly ("and my memory won't fail, over continental breakfast"). She's saying she won't forget what he did, maybe the night before. |
British India – Life Is Wasted On The Living Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I can't find this song and haven't heard of it? |
The Jezabels – Easy to Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |
yeah, i agree with dreamhotel in the storytelling with the night on the town and seeing the ex. It's supported by the line "saw me go blind, step out of line, can't help myself" a reference to the girl getting drunk and doing something innapropraite. blind being drunk. "when you get your groove on, i go blind". she can't help but over drink seeing her ex having such a good time. |
The Jezabels – Disco Biscuit Love Lyrics | 13 years ago |
ummm... it's possible but judging by how the jezabels write all their other lyrics, i doubt it. They write the majority of their lyrics in such deep symbols that i doubt they would make it obvious like that. it could be though. just my opinion |
Angus and Julia Stone – Just A Boy Lyrics | 13 years ago |
just realised you wrote this first |
Angus and Julia Stone – Just A Boy Lyrics | 13 years ago |
yeah not really that important but i'm 90% sure that the lyric is "i bit my toungue in the ark* of conversation" seen it on a number of websites and when you listen to it intently; it sounds more like ark than awkward. |
Angus and Julia Stone – Yellow Brick Road Lyrics | 13 years ago |
you didn't elaborate in the slightest. The only thing you analyzed was that of the sweet mary-jane line. don't act like things are obvious when you obviously don't know what your talking about |
British India – Beneath the Satellites Lyrics | 13 years ago |
this songs about feeling in-significant and alone. not just from the chorus but from all the verses |
British India – I Said I'm Sorry Lyrics | 13 years ago |
spot on dude, you've made this song ten times better for me and opened my eyes to british indias genius. thankyou for that |
British India – Avalanche Lyrics | 13 years ago |
ummmmm.... for starters. first verse; i'm quite sure it says "i won't*** be around all the time". my best interpretation of this song is that the lyricist is talking about a semi drug addiction to most likely coke. Avalanche in some way is a metaphor for cocaine as snow is similar to the look of white powder. "Super-glued right to your side" - a reference to how drugs are the most important thing to someone so they are, in a way, super glued to your side. "if you ask me i will not say no" im guessing to some kind of drugs. "once we started we just couldn't stop" - speaks for itself really. "the walls are coming down" - everything falling apart because of the drugs. |
The Jezabels – Disco Biscuit Love Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Well for starters, this is a great song. one quick reference is the 'meanest boy in the hills' hills refering to sydney in which alot of the landscape is built on up and down hills. disco biscuit obviously refers to ecstacy. This song (in my eyes) is about a friend who is selling herself short to a guy that is obviously using her. The singer or writer is worried about her and doesn't like the way she's being treated. great song. "hurt me"'s great aswell |
Miike Snow – Black & Blue Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i like your bruises theory |
Miike Snow – Black & Blue Lyrics | 14 years ago |
netskys is amazing too. one of my favourite drum and bass songs and i'm not even a fan of the genre in general. |
Miike Snow – Black & Blue Lyrics | 14 years ago |
don't worry broseph. you'll be alright i reckon. |
Foals – Spanish Sahara Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i'm sorry colton, i don't know what you want it to be but it is definetly as 'savestheexes' said it. It's an inflatable matress that you use on water. it's obviously some metaphor for the fact that the song is called spanish sahara (sahara being an african word for vast desert) in which doesn't have water and that a lilo is a water toy. |
The XX – Stars Lyrics | 14 years ago |
in my opinion, possibly the xx's best song. with the lyrics, for the fourth line of the first verse. it sounds and makes more sense that it's; "and do you know that i can change?" |
The XX – Crystalised Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i never noticed the referenced to crystal meth and now i completely agree with you. i was just about to mention the glaciers melted into the sea but realised you already caught that haha. well done on the analysis |
The Temper Trap – Fader Lyrics | 14 years ago |
p.s. just my opinion. open for argument |
The Temper Trap – Fader Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree saying this is temper trap's best song due to it's clever lyrics and warming melody. I believe this song is about the slow decrease in affect of some sort of drug; 'And I pledge myself allegiance To a better night's sleep at home' - that line speaks for itself. 'And the sweet, sweet sun's comin' down Hard, the sun's comin' down Hard, it burns the bones So hold a hand for cover' - this line speaks of when the sun begins to come up after a night when the drugs have worn off and the light from the sun is harmful on the eyes. 'Talk don't change a thing Oh, it's fadin' for ya' - this line also speaks for itself. |
