Taylor Swift – Safe and Sound Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think it's about dual-suicide. And I don't think that simply because it's on the soundtrack to Hunger Games means that it has to be about Hunger Games. Let me carry on. "I remember tears streaming down your face when I said 'I'll never let you go' When all those shadows almost killed your light" The person was feeling suicidal but the singer is with them and assuring them, making them cry. I remember you said "don't leave me here alone" But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight Something happened that made the singer leave, and the person didn't want to be alone. This probably happened days, weeks maybe even months before the current moment of the song. That is.. 'tonight' Just close your eyes, the sun is going down You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound. The singer has walked in on the person after they attempted suicide and it's hopeless now. "Close your eyes, the sun is going down" Now because the person is dead no one can hurt them, they're safe. In the morning 'you and I' will be safe and sound... well you'll see. Don't you dare look out your window, darling everything's on fire The war outside our door keeps raging on Hold onto this lullaby even when the musics gone, gone There's a war going on at this time, possibly an internal war in the form of pain in the outside world inflicted by others. And everything's on fire could mean that the singer has set the house on fire after the person is already dead. And since she's the singer, "when the musics gone" is when she is gone, dead. Just close your eyes, the sun is going down You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound See above comment on the chorus. Also, you and I'll be safe and sound is a reference to them both being dead in the morning. Just close your eyes, you'll be alright Come morning light, you and I'll be safe and sound And this is her losing her trail of thought and weakening from smoke inhalation. As she dies. |
Billy Talent – Cure For The Enemy Lyrics | 11 years ago |
This song is anti-war Time drifts through the sky Without a reason why We walk past the flowers Don't stop for a breath Until they're above our heads - We don't stop or rest until we're dead (flowers on the grave) We used to fight Have we made amends? Father I just can't tell Watching you spent the time you have left Trapped in a cold blue bed - Talking about the effects after the war, injuries, comas, PTSD. These sicknesses last long after the conflict ends. In darkness we'll rest Count the days down to one last breath In darkness we'll rest So forgive what you can't forget -Forgive what you can't forget, kind of self-explanatory. When I hear this, I immediately think of the Holocaust (which was a very evil thing I'm not saying it wasn't) and how Germany is so ashamed about their past. We said that we would call But we never spoke at all The years drifted by We've built up these walls For reasons that seem so small If this is the end, let's bury the past This might be our one last chance Together until the last grain of sand Has dropped from the hourglass - losing contact with friends and family while in the war. So open your eyes Open your eyes and don't forget to pray If we lose the fight If we lose the fight your spirit will live through me It's time we make right It's time we make right the pages of history Until we find Until we find a cure for the enemy - make right the pages of history by stopping wars. All those you've loved All those who've died All we have left is what lives in our minds All those you've loved All those who've died I know their spirits are up in the sky All those you've loved All those who've died All we have left is what lives in our minds All those you've loved All those who've died I know their spirits are up in the sky - All those people you fought with and against are dead now. So open your eyes Open your eyes and don't forget to pray If we lose the fight If we lose the fight your spirit will live through me It's time we make right It's time we make right the pages of history Until we find Until we find a cure for the enemy - Cure for the enemy is about changing who is our enemies instead of killing or fighting them. In darkness we'll rest Count the days down to one last breath In darkness we'll rest So forgive what you can't forget (In darkness we'll rest) All those you've loved (Count the days down to one last breath) All those who've died All we have left is what lives in our minds (In darkness we'll rest) All those you've loved (So forgive what you can't forget) All those who've died I know their spirits are up in the sky In darkness we'll rest |
Evanescence – Everybody's Fool Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I know this is about her little sister, but it means more to me. To me its a person who is putting on all these shows and facades. Just like the woman in the video, she is an actress and a model and she can't understand how people can adore that person because she knows the truth behind that person and she doesn't love the lie anymore. |
Skillet – Never Surrender Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I remember hearing this song after a friend died, and it just having such a strong meaning for me now. I feel that the song is about someone who is struggling in their walk with God, but doesn't want to fall. Doesn't want to surrender to the darkness, that I feel. |
Skillet – Forgiven Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Well, God often calls us his Bride, so in a sense it is exactly about that. We've been unfaithful to the one we love, and we are asking forgiveness. |
Evanescence – Tourniquet Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Yeah, I totally agree. Some things I'd also like to point out that go along with you. When Jesus was on the cross and paying the atoning sacrifice for our sins he cried out, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me!" And I think that Evanescence is alluding to that. My God (why have you forsaken me), My Tourniquet (Tourniquet has two definitions, first is the medical object that restricts blood flow, but second is a device used to pull together the different parts of wodden furniture, alluding to how her life is broken apart and she needs God to pull it together), Return to me Salvation. |

It's a reference to Isaiah 6:6-7 |
Michelle Branch – All You Wanted Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think it's about a girl at school, and she sees one of the popular kids. So, she tries to be like the popular kid, but finds out that inside this popular kid is really lonely and sad inside. And so she tries to help the popular kid cope with what's going on. |
Sarah McLachlan – Sweet Surrender Lyrics | 14 years ago |
You cannot tell me that each time I have prayed to God and my prayers have been answered that these things were simply coincidences. I refuse to believe that an elderly man with a brain tumor the size of a golf ball could be 'coincidentally cured' when we started praying. |

I don't think you should be able to talk to rexbannah like that. That is unfair and completely uncalled for. Whatever you interpreted what he said, does not mean he needs therapy of any sort, and with the suggestion of therapy is the underlying tone that "somethings wrong with you". There is nothing wrong with exploring a relationship, regardless of the methods. Just because you may think it's beastly and wrong does not mean it is or that you are now obliged to express your opinion. Personally, I would like to see you say sorry for being rude, but chances are you won't. So I will pray for you and hopefully you will gain some tolerance and a little respect. |
Akira Yamaoka – Room of Angel Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think this song is about a daughter and her mother. The daughter felt abandoned, but not abused, by the mother. And the mother is dying and now she wants to be part of her daughter's life before she leaves forever. "You lie silent there before me your tears they mean nothing to me" Daughter is at the hospital, and her mother is on the hospital bed. The mother had cried herself to sleep, but the daughter (because she felt abandoned) doesn't feel any emotional attachment to her. "the wind howling at the window" This is alluding to how much she wants to say to her mother (the wind howling) but she stops herself (the window). "the love you never gave I give to you" She is giving her mother her time, and she is caring for her while she is sick, she is loving her. Something her mother never did for her. “Really don't deserve it” The mother doesn’t deserve being cared for by her daughter, because the mother never cared for her daughter. “but now there's nothing you can do” The daughter is planning to make the death of her mother quicker, as both mercy and vengeance. “so sleep in your only memory of me my dearest mother” She wants her ‘dearest mother’ to know what her daughter feels, before she dies. “Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye it was always you that I despised I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye goodbye goodbye “ Here the daughter is telling her mother all that she feels. And that she will kill her. And her mother is crying. “So insignificant sleeping dormant deep inside of me” She tells her mother that she is pregnant, but that her mother would never care. “are you hiding away lost under the sewers maybe flying high in the clouds” She has now killed her mother, and is wondering if her mother is in heaven (flying above the clouds) or in hell (under the sewers). “perhaps you're happy without me” She is wondering if her mother is happy dead, because she’s not there. “so many seeds have been sown in the field and who could sprout up so blessedly if I had died” Here she wonders, if she wasn’t there to take care of her mother, who would her mother have asked for. “I would have never felt sad at all you will not hear me say I'm sorry” She is talking to herself about how she would never have been sad if her mother had other important people in her life. “where is the light wonder if it's weeping somewhere” Here she is wondering if it was wrong to kill her mother. “Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye it was always you that I despised I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye it was always you that I despised I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye good-bye good-bye good-bye good-bye Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye it was always you that I despised I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye it was always you that I despised I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye good-bye good-bye good-bye good-bye” This is her reliving the murder of her mother over and over again, and then she leaves the room and goes home. |
Sarah McLachlan – Sweet Surrender Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Well, not necessairly. At the end she says "I don't understand / By the touch of your hand / I would be the one to fall." And "I miss the little things / Oh I miss everything." So, in the end she doesn't get to go to the afterlife. And to you're commet about all religions just guessing. Not true. A couple religions have descriptions of their heavens from their gods. In Christianity, Jesus tells them about Heaven. And in Buddhism, Buddha tells them about Heaven. |
