Major Tom was a fictional character created by David Bowie which appears in multiple songs of his but this is his "ending." In this song I interpret this to mean different things. "Give my wife my love" obviously means he is not coming back and it is his choice because it says "Turn the thrusters on" he refuses to do this. I know he is not dead because he would later say something else He is on a journey to new life "Now the light commands" (heaven?) He is on his way to a new beginning, somewhere else. Great song |
