John Denver – On The Road Lyrics 11 years ago
I think this song was about John's childhood. His father was in the Air Force, and was constantly transferred around the U.S., so John spent a big chunk of his childhood on the road.

It's kind of ironic how JM refers to how "the simple-minded and the uninformed can be easily led astray", when one way they can be led astray is by taking his political songs seriously.

I agree with HyperBully's #4. When I first heard this song (or actually listened to the lyrics), I immediately thought of The Police's "Every Breath You Take". He's stalking a girl that he likes, who likes someone else.

But I thought of the "I can do anything" as meaning he can do anything it takes to track her down and get her to like him back (as in when he says he will follow her a million miles, and "can see through you").

I heard this song on the radio last night. The DJ said Sting wrote this song about that point where your girlfriend leaves you for someone else, but you're still so attached to her that you're stalking her.
