Insane Clown Posse – Pass Me By Lyrics | 6 years ago |
And for those who ain't down for the next man Who rob from the poor, and snatch all ya can And any chicken talkin' shit, lemme tell ya something Hold a lighter to your balls, and you'll see what's coming The lighter I think represents enlightenment, Balls could be heads, not nuts (as in the song Bowling Balls). Seeing what's coming helps us to avoid falling in Hell's Pit. |
Insane Clown Posse – Miracles Lyrics | 6 years ago |
"It is in fact an optical phenomenon caused by light reflecting off the back of condensed water in the air, showing us the full spectrum of visible light. You can never touch it, and it will always appear to move away from you the closer you get." Explain this to a blind person and see if he prefers the explanation of a rainbow or to actually see a rainbow. |
Insane Clown Posse – Miracles Lyrics | 6 years ago |
@[bhope1:22483] Yu've missed the lesson. Giraffes have the biggest heart of any living land mammal and they stick their necks out. If people had bigger hearts and were more willing to take risks, the world would be a happier place. ICP teaches many lessons but they do so indirectly because not everyone is worthy of receiving the truth - they must work to find it. |

Gary Numan – The Crazies Lyrics | 7 years ago |
In the last song Gary was leading a following of robots who want to become human. In this song it seems like Gary's forces and the machine forces are engaged in battle. |
Gary Numan – Do You Need The Service? Lyrics | 7 years ago |
some robots want to become human, so they're secretly meeting with Gary about how to become a human. However Gary can't carry them all; they also have to rely on themselves. Gary is a service to them, but they have to do the work. |

@[damrat:15281] Not being a hero has its own price... |
Gary Numan – Praying To The Aliens Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Gary believes he is the only human left. He must appear and act like a robot or else he gets caught. Of course, there could be other humans masquerading like robots and he just doesn't know it or can't tell 'em apart. |
Duran Duran – Girls On Film Lyrics | 8 years ago |
It's an allegory about facing your fears and coming out on top, though not without some struggle |
Duran Duran – Lonely In Your Nightmare Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I find DD uses double entendres often, and in many songs the underlying theme is sex (welcome to the 80s) |
Fleetwood Mac – The Chain Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Is is just me or is there an F word whispered at the very beginning? Followed by a breath that tells me the protagonist is barely surpressing his anger. |
Of Monsters And Men – Little Talks Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I am bipolar and I can certainly understand where you're coming from. I've burned bridges and I'm all apologies later on once the episode passes. My walls have holes and I have yet to get it plastered. I destroyed the shit out of almost everything I ever owned. No wonder I like punk rock, haha. |
Blind Guardian – A Past And Future Secret Lyrics | 11 years ago |
I think he's talking about fate. Fate cannot be changed. |
Neutral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Lyrics: And this is the room One afternoon I knew I could love you And from above you how I sank into your soul Into that secret place where no one dares to go I think Mangum is using a double entendre here. The most obvious meaning is sex, but there's another meaning. The word "you" could mean Anne Frank. "And from above you how I sank into your soul" could mean that he is reading the diary from above, the book is below him, and he gets lost in it. "That secret place" could refer to Anne's diary, a diary is a secret place for lots of people. |
Veruca Salt – Number One Blind Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It sounds like a Pixies song too. |
Kap Bambino – Hey! Lyrics | 13 years ago |
When she says devil, it almost sounds like Devo, the band that Kap Bambino sounds like. |
Ween – Blue Balloon Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It is a metaphor for earth. This song is about global warming. The polar caps are melting, putting more and more land underwater, making a big blue earth. A big blue balloon. |
Pixies – I've Been Tired Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I've never heard a song with more contradictions in my life, I can't believe everyone missed it. Kurt didn't, and he did the same thing with Nevermind, just a lot less. Left winger cause she been down south. Southeners are mostly right-wing. I could tell you a story that could make you cry. He repeats the exact same line back to her and shes amazed. I like lou reed. any girl would run at that. she said excuse me? she didnt get offended by the line, she just didn't hear him, cause he repeats it and she says please. |
Hüsker Dü – She's A Woman (And Now He Is A Man) Lyrics | 13 years ago |
"I can see her loading boxes in my mind Into a belvedere with a trailer pulled behind" The narrator is expecting her to pack up and leave any day "Well things didn't go exactly as they planned She's a woman and now he is a man" This is where it gets confusing, because there are several meanings that you can derive. Maybe they're fighting, perhaps physically. But my guess is that they're both cheating on each other. "There's a vacancy between them everyday And a sense of guilt that's not going away When they get older perhaps they'll understand She's a woman and now he is a man" This seems to fit in with cheating. But it could also fit in with other things. And to think, first time I heard this, I thought it was about a woman that got a sex change. |
Rainbow – Man On The Silver Mountain Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It sounds like a cocaine dealer. "Man on the silver mountain" A white pile of coke, that the man is selling. It also means that he's high. Come down with fire Lift my spirit higher Someone's screaming my name "Come and make me holy again" Someone's asking him to get him high, again. I'm the day, I'm the day I can show you the way And look, I'm right beside you Self-explanatory Well, I can help you, you know I can I'm the man on the silver mountain He can help someone get high. |
Gary Numan – Are 'Friends' Electric? Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's cold outside And the paint's peeling off of my walls There's a man outside In a long coat, grey hat, smoking a cigarette [He's in a crappy hotel or motel room] Now the light fades out And I'm wondering what I'm doing in a room like this There's a knock on the door And just for a second I thought I remembered you [It's turning night time, he's unsure if he should be here. Someone knocks on his door, it's the girl, Gail. His memory of that night stops as soon as he thinks of her.] So I open the door It's the 'friend' that I'd left in the hallway Please sit down A candle lit a shadow on a wall near the bed [It's Gail, he has sex with her (shadow near the bed, candle light)] You know I hate to ask But, are `friends' electric? Mine's broke down And now I've no one to love [Are friends something you can just turn off and on? Do they break down or go haywire at times? Gary's machine has broken down (paranoia, cynicism and mistrust), he can't be a friend to anybody anymore.] So now I'm alone Now I can think for myself About little deals And *issues* And things that I just don't understand Like a white lie that night Or a slight touch at times I don't think it meant anything to you [He's reflecting on what happened, by himself; she's gone. A white lie that night, a slight touch. She's only having sex with him to get him to date her friend, Su. She doesn't love him.] So I find out your reason For the phone calls and smiles And it hurts And I'm lonely And I should never have tried And I missed you tonight So it's time to leave You see this means everything to me. [He finds out the real reason behind the event. He misses her, that night of sex meant everything to him. "I should never have tried" also indicates depression] By the way, the Sugababes' cover of Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me" samples the verse's synth track of this song. |
Ween – The Rainbow Lyrics | 14 years ago |
They aren't prejudiced against gay people. They are telling them to come out of the closet, and be who they are. |
Black Flag – Depression Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Error: I DON'T NEED YOUR GODDAMN SYMPATHY Fix: I DON'T NEED YOUR FUCKIN' SYMPATHY! |
Hüsker Dü – It's Not Funny Anymore Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The song is about people who don't get their priorities straight. In school, they don't care about schoolwork, they only want to have a good time. They quit school or don't go to college, or score drugs and drink booze. However, when they are struggling, trying to look for a minimum wage job or living on welfare, and starving or homeless or both, "It's not funny anymore." "Find out who you really are And don't pay any attention to me" Exactly the same view I have: Don't listen to me though, find out for yourself where you'll be in a few years, because you didn't care. |
Mercyful Fate – Satan's Fall Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Use your demon eyes, uncover the disguise Time is out.. Yeah, I don't need your god Oh the law of Satan Pray and obey it forever Oh the law of Satan" I think King Diamond is talking about the bible, and how Christianity has done many EVIL things in the name of God. It makes more sense to see it as doing it in the name of SATAN, not God. As you guys should know, Christianity's beliefs ARE NOT Jesus' beliefs. |
Bob Rivers – Don't Vote for Nader Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Parodies Pearl Jam - Daughter It's about how people blamed Nader for Gore's 2000 defeat to Bush. Nader's votes (which mostly came from Democratic states) could have gone to Gore, making Bush lose. |
Porcelain and the Tramps – Gasoline Lyrics | 14 years ago |
It's called iTunes. Get with the times! (joking) |
Billy Talent – Nothing To Lose Lyrics | 14 years ago |
True. High sensitivity is a trait, which means that it doesn't disappear. When teachers say you're oversensitive, that's exactly what you are and there's not a thing you can do about the trait itself. Obviously, unfortunately, much of Western culture see this as a bad thing, while countries like China see this as a good thing. The trick is to disassociate yourself from others, accept who you are, realize that since no one understood you, no one really knew you. Also, sensitive people are also unusually smart and creative. |
Hüsker Dü – How To Skin A Cat Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Ah, it's on the next album. Weird. |
Hüsker Dü – How To Skin A Cat Lyrics | 14 years ago |
This track comes right out of nowhere, something totally unexpected. I love it. It's on the Zen Arcade album, so I guess the guy who runs away from his home life saw a "get rich quick" ad that sounded like this one. |
Dead Kennedys – Anarchy For Sale Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The thing that i love about the Dead Kennedys is that no matter how old their music is, their message is just as strong and meaningful today as it was years ago. Jello's smart enough to know what would happen before it did, because it's happened before. The pals with big bucks (who have some control over what the mainstream listens to) finds something, commercializes it and markets it, and leave it to die while they go forward again. Somebody with money "discovered" something that somebody with no money made, and made money off him and it. 60s Rock, counterculture, disco, 80s hardcore punk, 90s grunge. I read a comment earlier about why "preps" can't listen to Punk. Anyone can listen to Punk. However, if your best idea of Punk is Green Day, that's not the same Punk. It's the mainstream's commercialized poppy cock-rock version of Punk. You find out you're a poser, you can't accept it, you hate it, and you try even harder to get people to think you're something that you're not. Stereotypes get tossed around, such as how your hair "should" look like, and if you're in a Punk band, you must be dull and dim-witted, but that's the commercialization of it. Rules? Punk doesn't have any fucking rules! You will never find the word "should" in a Punk Rock dictionary. Punk is all about being yourself. If you truly find respect in your beliefs, opinions, and faiths, then you will want to contribute and support them. This is the essence of Punk Rock music. To go against popular beliefs (if they are not your own) and to question everything is to become a Punk. Punk is not something you buy, it's something you are. If you have no authenticity, you're a poser. |
Dead Kennedys – At My Job Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I agree with MountainJew, the music does sound Industrial. It reminds me of the Revolting Cocks' cover of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy." |
Hüsker Dü – I'll Never Forget You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
LOL. It's just insane guitar riffs mixed with someone screaming their lyrics. Sounds awesome! |
The Replacements – Alex Chilton Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The "I'm in love with that song" is sung in the same style as "In the street" by Big Star, written by Alex. Instead of the lyrics: "I'm in love. (pause) What's that song? (pause) I'm in love (pause) with that song." Try singing instead: "Hanging out, (pause) down the street (pause) The same old thing (pause) we did last week" |
Bad Religion – 21st Century (Digital Boy) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Ditto! Rated + |
Bad Religion – Do What You Want Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yea, that's what it means by "moniker is man and I'm rotten to the core" He is dissing man's cruelty, but also makes sure that people realize that he is a man himself. It's all about not caring about what you "should" do, and just do anything. |
Bad Religion – Land of Competition Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The first verse is about how people who are original and not influenced by others are part of the best bands, etc. The second is about how copycats will fail. In short, being a top superstar doesn't mean being the best. |
Bad Religion – Billy Lyrics | 14 years ago |
The song is obviously not about any of the band members. Billy is a person that a lot of us know in real life. His or her name does not matter. It's about having a dream, but a lack of insight and intuition made it impossible to achieve it. Sensing that he/she was failing, combined with a plummet in self-confidence, he/she decided that nothing was worth doing, since he/she wasn't going to achieve anything anyway, or at least that's what he/she is thinking. Trading his future for a needle and a spoon is only 1 event in a series of many, influenced by his/her lack of drive. But it is the last and worst event. |
