Florence + the Machine – Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up) Lyrics 14 years ago
Well, I understand the whole thing about it her breaking into the music industry, but the Lewis Carroll reference is really clear here. Likening her emerging into the lucrative, dark and difficult record industry is like her tumbling down the rabbit hole and suddenly seeing all the butterflies and toadstools morphing into something increasingly more twisted and trippy as the story continues.

Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over Lyrics 14 years ago
I don't think that every song should be assumed to be about someone's relationship as such...

Dog days are named after the constellation Sirius (the Dog Star) because it looks like one- dig days are the hottest most disease ridden days of the year and are therefore 'hard' and 'unpleasant'. SO I agree it's a metaphor for the mess she's in. This happiness, and oppertunity for a new life has turned up all of a sudden and it's kind of frightening to turn away from all she knows. TO take a risk- perhaps leaving her current circumstances could have bad repercussions or she's simply scared of change? Hence her 'hiding under the bed', trying to ignore this thing.

If she's going to go and get out of wherever or whatever she is in, by god, she'll have to do it quickly and cast off all that was ever familiar to her. It's not going to be fun, but ultimately it will be better. Reminds me of the character Blue from Wolf's Rain- when she leaves her master Quent to join a wolf pack, her Dog Days are quite literally over.

Oh, but yeah it could be about being afraid of a new relationship too ^^:
