| i have sat for the past 2 hours with the acoustic version of this song on replay. this song is absolutely brilliant, so simple and pure and yet so catchy. beautiful lyrics, beautiful meaning, and there exists an appeal of a sort of quiet, mystic eerieness that adds to the wonder of this song. the lyrics truly make you stop and think about those moments in life in which you have felt complete bliss and felt as if nothing could be more real or more beautiful or more meaningful. the words of this song are almost so heartwrenchingly capturing of those moments of perfection in life that they extend a hint of sadness knowing that those moments are so fleeting. indescribable how much this song means to me and how fascinating of a track it is | |

the lyrics of this song are both very catchy and sincere i believe. i think the fact that there are a limited number of lyrics in this song make the words that much more meaningful. two specific lines in this song i think capture the essence of the entire song: the first line "some people say you hate me, i dont believe its true, things that youre going through" implies to me that two lovers have ended their relationship and he has heard through other people that she strongly dislikes and even hates him, however his dedication to her and belief in the realness and truth of their relationship convinces him enough that she doesnt hate him but rather he knows she is going through difficult and tough shit in her life the second line "some people say you played me, i dont care if its true, im waiting here for you" is an absolutely heartwrenching testimony to his dedication to her. again through hearing about her through other people after they have ended their relationship, he hears that she played him in their relationship and that therefore possibly many of the moments of their relationhip were not true. i like to imply that most likely he does not believe this is true, and even if it is, he still believes enough in her and in the realness and goodness of their relationship and time together that he will be waiting there for her and will always be there for her, having his feelings for her always with him a great song with great lyrics and great guitar. i think it is a very underrated chili song, and still dont know why it only made it to a b-side track. all in all though, the chilis song that i interpret as break-up types of song always hit a deep spot inside of me. their work is absolutely amazing, and everytime i listen to them it just confirms more and more why theyre my favorite band of all time |

"don't forget me" competes as my favorite red hot song. it is an absolutely amazing, riveting song that literally touches something inside of me everytime i listen to it. i believe the overall message is so simple yet so touching: two lovers have ended their relationship and he simply does not want her to forget him. here are my interpretations of my favorite lines of the song: "i'm an ocean in your bedroom, make you feel warm make you want to reassume, now we know all it all for sure" - he knows that he has affected this woman and that he is so large and encompassing in her life, hence the ocean in the bedroom. he knows he can make her feel good, and now that their relationship is over, they can finally realize and know all the aspects of their time together. "i'm the rainbow in your jail cell, all the memories of everything you've ever smelled" - again, he is a glimpse of hope, light, and color in her small, trapped, sheltered world. his presence in her life reminds her of everything in her life, and he is so much a part of her that every moment in her life, even those that did not include him, are now somehow connected to him forever. "sideways falling, more will be revealed my friend, don't forget me i can't hide it, come again get me excited" - he is so affected by the end of this relationship that he feels as if he is falling sideways and walking and living all off balance. he knows more about their relationship will come to light after it has ended now, but he so desperately does not want her to forget him. and truthfully, all he desires is for her to come back to him again and return to him so that he can feel the excitement and vigor of life. "i'm the blood stain on your shirt sleeve" - although it may seem as if this line is referencing drugs, i believe it symbolizes how he gave his heart and soul to this girl, so much so that it is almost as if he bled for her, and his love for her was so strong that it metaphorically visible on her shirt, able to be noticed when looking at her life "make the hair stand up on your arm" - this simply references how he knows their entire relationship and experience together was so meaningful and real that the mere thought of it can send goosebumps through the body. their amazing connection was so deep that it affects the body subconciously "i'll be there, tell me when you wanna go" - this line that concludes the song includes his last words to her: telling her that he will always be there for her, will always have her in his heart and that if she were to desire to return to their love, he would instantaneously meet her. he will be ready for her love again, ready to go for her and with her the moment she says she wants to. A beautiful song, lyrically and musically. one of rhcp's best in my opinion. I can listen to this song over and over again, and it never fails to inspire a myriad of deep emotions and memories inside of me. |

this song is absolutely breathtaking in my opinion. the raw emotion so easily felt by dave as he simply sings and plays is amazing. in my opinion, this is the story dave is hoping to tell through this song: this man so desperately loves this woman, yet they cannot be together. he has fallen for her so deeply and nothing (not even the girl) could control his falling for her, yet because they will never be together he is broken and completely broken hearted. all he wants from her however is one last kiss, one last remnant of her, before he lets her go and finally lets go of their relationship. all these emotions and the entire experience of their relationship take both good and bad effects on him: he feels the joy and elation of the love he felt for her, however the emotions the relationship stirred in him also cause him to feel as if he were in a hell for he is not able to be with her ultimately. he admits he now finally believes her after she told him theyd always be together because ironically, he realizes that although they cant physically be together, his memory of her will still be forever and always with him and that this will sadly be a reminder of how lonely they will be without each other. he then admits that he is coping with the breakup through alcohol and drinking, he remembers her telling him that the end to their relationship was alright because their time together wasnt wasted since their connection was so real and beautiful. he then feels as if he is at the bottom of the ocean without her, yet it ironically feels like heaven because anything to be thinking of her, he prefers. he continues to talk to the girl and explain to her how there are conflicting feelings of bliss and hell overtaking him (the angel and the devil), and how he wishes she wasnt physically absent and dead from their relationship so she could understand the emotions inside of him. he finishes by proclaiming to her how their time of always and forever will always live on, and although it is lonely because theyll never be together physically again, she will always ultimately live inside of him. i believe this is one of dave's most beautiful songs. the emotion and love and yearning for this girl are remarkable, and it is heart-renchinly sad as he realizes he can only want that one last kiss. extraordinary, life-changing song in my opinion. thank you. |

hands down, this is my ultimate favorite song. over the past four years that i have been exposed to this song, it has assumed multiple meanings to me personally. not only are the lyrics beautiful and extraordinary, but the melody and piano are simply breathtaking. i recently experienced an end to the first meaningful relationship i had in my life with a guy, and this song had significant meaning. during our first conversation, we talked about this song and discussed its meaning to us for quite a while. after 5 months of being together, it was time for me to end the relationship. the last words he said and wrote to me were the lyrics of this song: "But I'm slipping in between you and your big dreams, It's always you in my big dreams, And you tell me that it's over, Wake up lying in a patch of four leaf clover..you've got to get out you can't stand to see me shaking, Could you let me go? I didn't think so, and you don't want to be here in the future...this is to a girl who got into my head with all the pretty things she did..this is to a girl who got into my head with all these fucked up things i did" with this experience i had with the lyrics and song, "konstantine" takes on a heartwrenching, romantic, breakup feel for me. here is my interpretation of the story andrew mcmahon tells in this song: this man realizes that this girl he is in love with leads a different life than he does, and he realizes that he sometimes holds her back from her dreams and from her living her life, yet he cannot seem to get her out of his mind. when she breaks off the relationship with him, he is heartbroken, but he knows that she is too and that neither of them will be fully able to ever get over each other. He knows that she doesnt want to come to grips with the fact that she has spent all her time loving a person who she put all her hope into and that he was unable to be the person she wanted him to be. An aspect of their different lives they lead that holds them back is that he has aspirations of music while she is too young for him (this can be taken literally, or metaphorically in the sense that he is adventurous and dangerous and she is the reserved good girl who secretly yearns for his vigor of life). He genuinely apologizes for hurting her if he did, admitting it was so difficult for him to be with her and not hurt her, being the kind of guy he is. He also admits how they both know what it feels like to be alone, but theyd rather live together and experience life together (however crowded and not right it may be) rather than be alone. He considers her his Konstantine because she is a solid, good part of his life. He knows she is good for him, and he wants this constantly in his life. he revels at her beauty, both physical and emotional. it saddens him to think that all the nights and time they spend together, as great as they are, could never get them closer to being able to always be together. he then reminisces about his headstrong attitude (spelling confusion with a K and liking it), reminisces about memories with her, and reminisces about times in which they were both carefree. He then realizes he has to live with the pain of hurting her and what he did to her and put her through. he still wishes however that they can be together constantly and eternally because he knows he'll never get over her. he knows that other guys she'll be with will never hurt her like he did, yet it pains him to realize that. He then dedicates the song to her admitting she affected him deeply with the beauty of her life and affected him deeply with the shit he did to her - he cant let both these good and bad memories go, and theyre always haunting him. He still desires her always, confesses how much he misses her, and how much he wants to be together with her, simply lying together in each others arms where all was bliss between them. he concludes this proclamation of love by pronouncing her name and what she meant to him - a constant love and rock in his life. this is a beautiful song, a beautiful story. it has honestly changed my life. thank you |
