Radiohead – Fake Plastic Trees Lyrics 14 years ago
He's talking about the American lifestyle. We don't care about how something really is, as long as it looks good and gives a good impression to those whose opinions mean something to us. The girl married the guy, because her family would be happy she married a successful guy who probably did plastic surgery which is faker than fake. Everyone is just living in a house of cards, no one knows who anyone really is anymore because society dictates what we should be.

Radiohead – High and Dry Lyrics 14 years ago
I believe you can break this song down verse by verse to understand it better.

The first verse is about obtaining fame anyway possible....Being reckless or unethical or simply by being someone you aren't to create a visage of what you want people to see. Then once you've obtained it, you "broke another mirror" because the person you are does not reflect the person you appear to be.

The second verse is about all the new "fake" friends you've acquired, and how all your conversation is "dry" and only relates to you, because you become so narcissistic that you cannot focus on anyone or anything but your own achievements....Thus you need people to fill your void and are no longer happy with yourself. He explains this by saying "All your insides fall to pieces" "wishing you could still make love" meaning you aren't in cohesion with yourself, because you aren't who you appear.

Also in second vs, it shows how the people around you will hate you once you try to tell them how to achieve success once you've "sussed" or figured out the world, because people hate arrogance and the also secretly resent those who become famous over something they are afraid of.

The third verse is when people see you for how you really are, and are no longer intrigued by you....you then dwell on the past, thinking it was the best time of your life, your 2 minutes of fame achieved by doing something out of character.

I think the chorus just sums up how after your fame you are left "high and dry" with nothing and no one. It also shows how reckless fame leaves you "high and dry" because its only temporary.
