Andain – What It's Like Lyrics | 10 years ago |
For me, the ultimate breakup song, breaking up with one's self. What "it" takes? your world. |
Andain – Beautiful Things Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is a perfect fit for spiritual awakening, in which one dies to themselves (not my life anymore) and sees the power and simplicity of god/existence. Without "me" to think about anymore, you need beautiful things and the mystery of the future to become new focus areas. |
Andain – Promises Lyrics | 10 years ago |
A song about spiritual awakening, and escaping some limitations only to find new ones. Promises and expectations for the future are replaced with meaning making in the moment (breathe in). Who is the "you"? god/existence. Still under god. |
Sarah McLachlan – Witness Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Uh, this is a stretch |
Sarah McLachlan – Witness Lyrics | 10 years ago |
This song is a dead ringer for spiritual awakening and "dark night of the soul" "died for a cause" - death of ego can be a black time of mysery and "burning". One may realize their true nature as a watcher/witness rather than as the main actor in the play of their life. Do we burn in heaven? No, of course not, what heaven? "good intentions" and "fire out of clay" are references to the man made interpretation of god, whereas this living god has no intentions or judgement, but just is. Will mysery be made beautiful? Yes, as the person climbs out of the pit of dying before they died, love and awe are revealed. |
Linkin Park – Lies Greed Misery Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"your pride and your ego" are not getting it done. "I don't have the patience" for all you 'complicated' people. |
Linkin Park – Skin To Bone Lyrics | 11 years ago |
"when your name is drawn" the higher self will be happy to see the revolting lower self / body fall back to dust. |
Linkin Park – Until It Breaks Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The rapper personifies ego/self and the singer personifies superego/noself together in one life and body. The ego sings about specialness and the superego sings about the beauty of this world and lifetime. Which is more beautiful? Which do you choose? |
Linkin Park – Lost In The Echo Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Promises broken equals approximately "you're special". No, you're not. The ego pulls the wool over your eyes with lies and once you see through them, you just have to let "you" go. |
Linkin Park – In My Remains Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The song could be about dying to the self/ego, where the person left behind is the remains. This might be called enlightenment, second birth. The person has died but still walks the earth, like a fallen angel. More realizations happen every day "like an army falling one by one" Silence (as in meditation) is the sanctuary that washes away the remaining attachments. |
Linkin Park – Castle Of Glass Lyrics | 11 years ago |
We are all just temporal patterns (cracks) in this 13 billion year old universe. When our atoms are liberated we'll fly around this world liberated from this life (warm me up in a nova's glow). The dream below is our animal existence. We want to be one again with the universe (whole again). |
Linkin Park – Burn It Down Lyrics | 11 years ago |
My interpretation is the song is about ego, left brain and separate selves. We culturally build ego up with words, education, symbolics, science. We do all kinds of stupid things because of it - most emotions, wars, harm, seeing ourselves as special. Mankind needs to burn it down with awakening and awareness. See "Power of now" for an explanation. |
Oceanlab – Sirens Of The Sea Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Bards of the ocean, like Rumi, Melville, Walt Whitman, Thoreau, Jesus can't resist singing out the praises of nonduality. |
Sarah McLachlan – Sweet Surrender Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The meaning that works for me is finding god/consciousness/ocean and dying to the self. Allusions to 'falling' "being an angel" (dead but still walking the earth), etc. One cannot return to ignorance and ultimately surrender is the only option. |
Oceanlab – Sky Falls Down (Vocals by Justine Suissa) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Maybe it's about physical love. Maybe it's about enlightenment (crashing through your walls- one can't really choose it) and love of the god/ocean/beloved (see Rumi) Love of the world/ocean/god can exist until your last breathe (sky falls down) and is unconditional. |
Oceanlab – I Am What I Am Lyrics | 11 years ago |
My interpretation of this song is the godhead/spirit/higher self talking to the normal ego self. The ego self has all this baggage about being important, knowing what's what, etc. which the true self just doesn't care about. Just transcend the ego self and know your true self. Everything else is secondary. |
Oceanlab – Secret Lyrics | 11 years ago |
What's the secret? True knowledge of ego and all the lies behind your own eyes? |
Oceanlab – Satellite (Vocals by Justine Suissa) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
My interpretation of the song is about god interacting with us, as in this living god. Free will is an illusion of ego that when dispelled, reveals that god/universe/consciousness/ocean is whispering everything in your ear, trailing your footsteps, etc. The sun as an important manifestation of god is half a world away at night and the main driver of our living earth. Buddha said "all is conditioning" (aka no free will) |
John Lennon – Imagine Lyrics | 11 years ago |
if humanity woke up to the trickster that is ego/self, this might be possible |
Sarah McLachlan – Train Wreck Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Like Rumi's poetry, a love song to the ocean/god/beloved |
Sarah McLachlan – Stupid Lyrics | 11 years ago |
fits awakened knowledge: Sleep has left me alone to carry the weight of unraveling where we went wrong --> once you see the truth you can't stop thinking about it That you're no good for me -> knowledge of god/the ocean But you're the only one I see -> ocean is everywhere Love has made me a fool set me on fire and watched as I floundered -> gods love burns one up But you come around in your time speaking of fabulous places create An oasis that dries up as soon as you're gone You leave me here burning in this desert without you -> if you can't sleep this sets one up for a bipolar manic situation I can't stand to feel myself losing control -> of obsessive thinking about the truth In the depth of my senses I know -> the truth |
Sarah McLachlan – World On Fire Lyrics | 11 years ago |
this song could be about enlightenment: You're not alone in this story's pages -> many other songs illuminate the path of those who've awoken Night has fallen amongst the living and the dying And I try to hold it in, yeah I try to hold it in -> one can lose control of their emotions at night, with the wound that wont heal The world's on fire and -> Buddhist reference of how humans act in ignorance of the truth It's more than I can handle -> the truth is hard to bear I dive into the water -> spiritual water from the divine ocean (I try to bring my share) I try to bring more More than I can handle -> the awoken must teach it's all the have left I watch the heavens and I find a calling -> old missions lose their luster (all is vanity), new missions must be found Something I can do to change what's coming -> ego is here and strong and its scary |
Sarah McLachlan – Fallen Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The song could be about enlightenment and divine knowledge: Title: Fallen -> fallen like an angel, fallen to reality on earth and like a ghost still walking the planet Heaven bend to take my hand and lead me through the fire -> the fire of knowledge which burns up your old self But the long awaited answer to a long and painful fight -> the answer of the truth of what god is after following a spiritual struggle I got caught up in all there was to offer -> caught up in ego and self But the cost was so much more than I could bear -> dying to yourself hurts I messed up -> taking too big a bite of the apple of knowledge Better I should know -> than to fool around with god We believe that we can change ourselves The past can be undone -> our illusions But we carry on our back the burdens time always reveals In the lonely light of morning In the wound that would not heal -> the burden of self, which becomes an open wound It's the bitter taste of losing everything -> everything you thought you were I've held so dear I've nowhere left to turn -> once you see it, the truth is inescapable I'm lost to those I thought were friends To everyone I know -> others don't get it Oh they turn their heads, embarrassed Pretend that they don't see -> and don't believe you That it's one miss step, one slip, before you know it And there doesn't seem a way to be redeemed -> the truth can't be unlearned only forgotten Who are you? |
Katy Perry – E.T. (feat. Kanye West) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
When your right brain breaks through, it feels just like this. Watch "stroke of enlightenment" on TED if you don't understand this song 100%. |
Pearl Jam – All or None Lyrics | 11 years ago |
All or none, same as, "to be or not to be". You have to live with the parts of yourself such as your mortal body and ego. War within ourselves, our higher and lower parts. When you see them separately, you may be able to forget they are separate, but you can't make peace easily. You can find common ground. See "love boat captain". |
Pearl Jam – Green Disease Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Money AND ego "look what I'm worth!" distracting us from a higher purpose. |
Pearl Jam – Get Right Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The question seems to be what is "get right" and who is "you". Perhaps the song is about the blissful feeling after sex. Perhaps the song is about blissful unity with god/ocean/whatever. Or both at the same time "underbelly inside of me rejoice and follow thee". We are both mortal and divine at the same time. I can't see a drugs reference perhaps that is just the smoker's idea of "getting right"? |
Pearl Jam – You Are Lyrics | 11 years ago |
When everything you thought you knew (your wheel) is breaking down and your path, motivations, etc are up for question (your path), then love is a guide how to get back. Love of humanity, beauty, survival are deep level (love is all you need) places to land. Burn like a dot on the sun/darkening hour... Sometimes the process can lead to painful insomnia/sleep where our old ego self feels like it's being burned up. Know one knows because it's a personal journey most can't understand. J Campbell and G Lucas understand. The ocean is often a reference to a "you are that" universe, where we are both part of it and separate (shoreline or foam) at the same time. When you become as interesting as the guy next door, you can still love the ocean. It's so beautiful. |
Pearl Jam – You Are Lyrics | 11 years ago |
When you are lying in bed sleepless for the 4th night in a row, you will know. |
Pearl Jam – Thumbing My Way Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Maybe it's about lost love for another, or for a lost self (rope around my neck)... When someone bites into the apple of knowledge and is cast out of heaven/garden of eden, they may feel they are walking (on this earth) back to heaven (when they die). In "it's a wonderful life" they said when a bell rings angels get their wings. It's a church bell for their mortal funeral. |
Pearl Jam – Ghost Lyrics | 11 years ago |
When the ego has died, you may feel like a ghost or angel... Walking dead still in the world... All the ego based talk other people dish out, "look at my pretty clothes", "that makes me angry", just get's pretty hard to take. So you have to hide away and learn how to tolerate it. |
Pearl Jam – I Am Mine Lyrics | 11 years ago |
If that's true then it must be about retreating into his deepest center just to ... cope. beautiful. we all must cope. |
Pearl Jam – I Am Mine Lyrics | 11 years ago |
If that's true then it must be about retreating into his deepest center just to ... cope. beautiful. we all must cope. |
Pearl Jam – Love Boat Captain Lyrics | 11 years ago |
When your ego has been destroyed and everything you thought was important is no longer so, you should follow love to get back to reality and a stable existence. See J Campbell and the hero's journey. Being a cause of 9 deaths sure takes your ego down a notch, possibly all the way down. |
Pearl Jam – Love Boat Captain Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Ying and yang, ,it's a normal part of existence. We are 100 trillion cells and we won the race to evolve advanced self consciousness, so our nature is to evolve fast. Read "overdiagnosed" by Welch for the medical perspective. |
Pearl Jam – Love Boat Captain Lyrics | 11 years ago |
it is their deepest album |
Pearl Jam – Cropduster Lyrics | 11 years ago |
The lie is "you" as in the ego self which must hide itself in order to survive. Once you see it, you can't go back, no "book you can close" The fool "you" wastes a bunch of time with "why are we here?" kind of thinking. When the truth "hits your eye", e.g. the minds true eye in the right brain, your world will turn upside down. Pretty song. |

Oceanlab – On A Good Day Lyrics | 11 years ago |
me is the universe (been talking to myself forever), the ocean you are the fuse (lit the fuse to it) |
Pearl Jam – Can't Keep Lyrics | 14 years ago |
From a buddhist phylosophical point of view, this song's meaning is crystal clear. You can't keep me on this dirty earth when I die. Instead I'm going to merge with the ocean of existence and experience the bliss of freedom. References to important buddhist themes run throughout. Composure during the death process, no need to know all the answers, oceans, etc. |
