So everyone seems to be really angry about this song? lol. I always listened to it as kind of a love letter from the band to everyone that has always supported them. It's a love song. It could be about a girl or a friend or god or fans...i guess it just depends on the context within which it was sang. ps, i love this song. It's one of those songs that randomly makes its way back into my head all on its own. |

I LOVE this song. I love how they tied it in so well with the movie even though you can listen to it on it's own. It's a beautiful song that definitely adds to the character. I was just reading through the lyrics and realized that It could totally be used to describe men going to war in general. However you see it, it's a great song. |

I think that people can have personal interpretations, but this song is literally written from the Bible. That's something alot of people don't understand though. Jesus taught through parables and stories...We were told these "stories" so that we could apply the principles to our lives and everyday situations... So just because it is written from the bible, doesnt mean it doesn't apply to someone who doesnt believe in God. |

Anyone who knows what Teen Mania's Honor Academy is should comment me back. If you are an intern or are alumni from the HA than you can relate to this song. "and when we get home, i know we won't be home at all" Its odd. you go away for a year to define what you believe and to figure out exactly who you are, and when you come back its often not home anymore. the people you used to know or used to "relate to" you all of a suddent, don't. You are changed and they are not. This song reminds me of my Honor Academy family every time i listen to it. it's probably my favorite Paramore song. |

This song gives me a "pedro the lion" vibe. its good. awesome lyrics. very earthy natural tones in the song. When i listened to this, it reminded me of the completely heart breaking feeling you get in your gut when you see love die. or when you see betrayal. be it divorce, abandonment, or sadly what has become the social norm in my generation. |

You mention that you feel sorry that shes a christian. I feel the same for you. It hurts my heart to see how things are now. I am not a weak person, and i am not afraid of death. You have it all wrong. I am neither opressed, nor uncertain. I know exactly who i am and who i was created to be. I may not agree with everything the modern church promotes, but i believe that my mission here is to love. For you to think this way probably means that "christians" have hurt you in the past. Great song by a great band. I think that people on this site get very defensive about what they think different songs stand for. A song can be interpreted a hundred different ways. I love when a band decides to let everyone else in on what a song is truly about, but I also love those who refuse to. This song made me feel a lot of different things. I really took to the line “Does the pain weigh out the pride”. This is something experienced by people every day. Things we choose to endure, whether for selfish reasons or moral reasons. I also agree with the above stated “21 gun salute” reference. But I think It can be interpreted a few different ways also. It is typically used to honor someone’s life after their death, laying them to rest, but I think that the “anti-war pro-peace” undertones give that a different twist. I feel like it stands for something a little bit bigger. Think about it. ONE 21 guns. As in ONE UNITED 21 guns. ONE UNITED 21 guns laying the war to rest. ONE UNITED action for the peace beyond the difference. You and I. I also think that the reference to “looking for forgiveness from a stone” is talking about people regretting not cherishing the life/time they had with people before they died. The stone being reference to the gravestone or headstone in a cemetery. Tied into the war, after it’s all over and no one is there to take the blame we have to look at all of the life that we did not cherish. Looking for forgiveness from the dead. Just sayin. |
