I think its about releationships.. of any kind. Whether it be your spouse.. boyfriend or girlfriend.. your best friend.. whatever. To James I think it might have meant his band-mates. I think it'd be an excellent wedding song. If I ever do get married again, this will be the first dance.

a lot of people say its about suicide, and well yea I can see where people get that. It very well may be about suicide. As I just read over the lyrics I got the impression that it could also be about depression. Falling deeper and deeper into the pit of depression.

This song is just epic. I love it! The intro part when I listen to it gives me chills. It's about the root basic fear we all probably had as kids.. dark.. also the fear of what's out there.. in the dark!

The song actually comes from some filmstrips that Kirk got in Russia while on tour. They show a lot of the images from the song and video. Heard an interview on them. Its a great song... Seems to me that its about an individual escaping some sort of hospital or facility. Genetic experiments or something
