I have the whole song. It goes like this:

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

All of those nights
when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail.
And your little angel
hung the cat up by its tail,
And your third fiance didn't show.

Sometimes you want to go

Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.

Roll out of bed
Mr. Coffees dead,
The mornings lookin' bright.
(Mornings lookin' bright)
And your shrink ran off to Europe
and didn't even wright.
And your husband wants to be a girl.

Be glad there's one place in the world,

Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You want to go where people know,
people are all the same.
You want to go where everybody knows
Your name.

(Instremental, and Key Change)

Where everybody knows your name,
(Where everybody knows your name)
and they're always glad you came.

(Softer)

Where everybody knows your name,
(Where everybody knows your name)
and they're always glad you came.

(Softer)

Where everybody knows your name,
(Where everybody knows your name)
and they're always glad you came.

(Silent)

I cannot believe that only one of the village people is gay. They are all flaming. That is just weird.

Kenny Loggins – Return To Pooh Corner Lyrics 15 years ago
This song refers to how Kenny grew up without realizing it has grown up, represented by wandering too far, and he wishes that he could go back to his childhood friends, represented by Pooh, as well as wishing to enjoy those activities he loved, counting the bees or chasing the clouds. When he dies, he will return to pooh corner, where he was the happiest, being innocent again.

Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics 15 years ago
First sentence = WRONG - its about the death of Buddy Holly, and is literally about the day that because he died, sucky singers take over. It does reference the JFK assassination with " I can't remember if I cried when I read about his widowed bride".

Helter Skelter was a movie, but IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED YOU MORON. Hollywood stars where murdered during this period.

All this is completely wrong, and I am just too lazy too tell you the rest of what is wrong with this. I will say again - JFK = music dying. WHAT THE HELL!

DJ Sammy – Heaven Lyrics 15 years ago
sorry, than any other song that has ever been remade by a completely artificial singer. I mean seriously, the song S.O.S. stole the melody directly from Tainted Love by Soft Cell. I also heard a song on kiss 108 when my sister was listening to it, that was made withe tons of little snippits of Don't Stop Believing by Journey. This SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCK SUCKS

It makes me angry that a Bryan Adams classic has been turned into a stupid techno song. This song now sucks worse than:

Talking Heads – Psycho Killer Lyrics 15 years ago
I am going to us the Hannibal Lector example again (used in may comment for Handlebars by The Flobots) for this song. In the book, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal makes Agent Starling almost comfortable, like she can trust him. He acts like a gentleman, but we all know the horror that he is able to unleash. David Byrd is Pretty much conveying this message in Psycho Killer, as long as you look at this song in the exclusively literal sense.

Barenaked Ladies – If I Had A $1000000 Lyrics 15 years ago
I love this song. It is very catchy, and very funny. The only thing that I do not understand is that the Barenaked Ladies are wildly successful, and I can almost guarantee that all of them have at least a million dollars each.

Its a joke from when earlier in the song it is stated a real fur coat is cruel. Jesus, I bet you did not get the "Art - Picasso, or a Garfunkel" joke either.

John Parr – St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion) Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is about the strength and determination that people can have. It was also used very appropriately in the movie St. Elmo's Fire to show Emilio Estevez and his companion's struggles with transition,, but still trying to make it better.

Good answer! Great song. The movie was not as good as The Breakfast Club.

Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics 15 years ago
The message that you got from the song was almost an exact copy of the lyrics.

As for the matter of the instrumental and vocal progression from whisper to shout and from nice words to angry words is very obvious.

Way to analyze the song.

I made an account almost exclusivly to knock your answer.

Flobots – Handlebars Lyrics 15 years ago
Personally, I believe that the song is fairly literal. The song does, however, portray different peoples perspectives of the world. Some see it as a wonderful place of amusement and wonder, while others see it as a god-awful hellhole, where all around them can be easily manipulated by lies and fear. This is a wonderful song example telling of the disintegration of our society due to the increase in evils. It shows how it is easy to get confused in this society that we live in. He starts as a young child who is happy, and carefree, and as he grows older, life becomes more confusing. Dreams are crushed just as fast as they move. It is pretty much summed up to no one is evil, but everybody is evil. If you think about it, even the "Hannibal Lecter"s of our society were loved by someone, parents, friends, spouses, etc. I think this song has wonderful lyrics, a wonderful melody, and a very important message.
