Pretty great chords, by the way - gotta love how the phrases in the verse start in Eb minor and end up in E so seamlessly!
verse: Eb minor Ab Gb Amaj7 E
chorus: G Amin(7) D7 |

Joanna Newsom – Occident Lyrics

Occident is defined as "The part of the horizon where the sun last appears in the evening", so if we're considering Have One On Me to be the general timespan of a relationship, the conclusion of disc two being the end of the relationship, it makes sense. |

Arcade Fire – Haiti Lyrics

I think the contrast between the mood of the music and the mood of the lyrics actually correspond with the country of Haiti itself. While it may seem like a peaceful tropical place, it's actually plagued with these deathly problems that are almost unexpected, or covered up by the characteristics of the land. |

I love the emotional jabs of "and miss" at the end of the song. They're almost terrifying. |

"Just please respect the candles in a line"
It might mean, along with the young love line, to not step ahead of your age; to not skip birthdays (hence the candles) and try to act older than you are by supposedly falling in love. |

Neutral Milk Hotel – Jennifer Lyrics

Nah, it's definitely still Jeff singing. Keep in mind this is years apart from Aeroplane, where his voice is much more distinct and strong because he's been singing for so long. He also got older. |

The Olivia Tremor Control – Jumping Fences Lyrics

To me, I think this song is about having a casual affair. The girl in this song has a drunk husband who wants to go home and leave, but the girl wants to stay. The husband then sees the girl with another man. He seems to be using the excuse that the world is so confusing and it's better to live day by day. "Jumping fences" seems like a term to describe leaving home, cheating, etc. |
