Regina Spektor – Somedays Lyrics

The emotion in her voice when she sings "Downtown, downtown, I'm not here, not anymore, I've gone away" is awing. This song is amazing. |

Plain White T's – Hey There Delilah Lyrics

"A thousand miles seems pretty far, but they've got planes and trains and cars, I'd walk to you if I had no other way." *sigh* This song is so beautiful.
It makes me think of a boy who cares a lot for a girl, and how they struggle over a long-distance relationship and how they miss each other...but there's a sense of hope that makes everything worthwhile, that someday it will all work out and they will be together again. |

Massive Attack – Teardrop Lyrics

I love the warble in her voice whenever she says "fearless". The background music for this song is also amazing--Massive Attack rules! |

Wumpscut – Christfuck Lyrics

What is he saying from 3:30 to 3:35 of the song? I don't think it's written in the lyrics. |

Wumpscut – Line Of Corpses Lyrics

I recently saw the Last Temptation of Christ for the first time, and when I got to the part where Mary and Jesus were talking together for the first time I was really surprised to learn that Wumpscut took that dialogue and put it into this song. It was a nice discovery, though! |

Wilco – Less Than You Think Lyrics

I always assumed that the feedback was the sound of the "high-pitched drum" mentioned in the song, and I never really thought beyond that. And you know that this song was written by other people besides Jeff Tweedy, so it's probably not all about his migraines. |

Death Cab for Cutie – Champagne from a Paper Cup Lyrics
| 15 years ago

"Drinking champagne from a paper cup is never quite the same" makes me think that he isn't satisfied with anything. Like, he's drinking champagne, but he's restless because he could be drinking from a goblet instead of a paper cup. |

Death Cab for Cutie – Line of Best Fit Lyrics
| 15 years ago

This song is so wistful and beautiful--it's one of my favorite Death Cab for Cutie songs ever. It never gets old. I love the notes played at the beginning and in the background--the strained chords that fade into existence. I wish I knew the instrument they used to play them. Anyway, I love the music so much...and Abi Hall was the female vocalist. For the longest time I thought all the vocals were by Ben Gibbard, like he was harmonizing or something. |

Boards of Canada – Julie and Candy Lyrics

It reminds me of a girl in a white dress with a matching sun hat running through a field of sunflowers...I dunno. It sure doesn't sound like a song about drug dealing. And I heard "You slay me Andre" too, now that you mention it :-P |
