A very catchy song and also deep. The lyrics are sort of melancholic. Never expected such a song from Rihanna, but she sure knows how to to shock. The song is definitely (to me at least) about a psychological disorder such as may be schizophrenia or insomnia. 'What's wrong with me? Why do I feel like this? I am going crazy' This part speaks that she knows that there is something wrong with her, but she just doesn't know what it is. 'No more gas in the rig Can't even get it started Nothing heard, nothing said Can't even speak about it All my life on my head Don't want to think about it Feels like I'm going insane' No more gas in the rig can refer to her not having enough strenght any more to think, she is too tired from what it is she is suffereing from. Her condition is so pathetic that she can't talk about it with anyone. It's so terrible a condition that she doesn't even want to think about it. She wants to ignore it but she can't. She naturally concludes that she is going insane. 'It's a thief in the night To come and grab you It can creep up inside you And consume you A disease of the mind It can control you It's too close for comfort ' This part is rather poetic, but it speaks for itself. She is describing her condition, disturbia and somewhat paranoia. 'Throw on your break lights We're in the city of wonder Ain't gonna play nice Watch out, you might just go under Better think twice Your train of thought will be altered So if you must faulter be wise Your mind is in disturbia It's like the darkness is the light Disturbia Am I scaring you tonight Your mind is in disturbia Ain't used to what you like Disturbia Disturbia ' I'm sort of confused on this part. It feels as if it's the voices in her head saying all this stuff. What I've noticed is that many a times, when a person starts suffering from something like disturbia, the voices always talk about caution so much that they confuddle you. The voices are definitely trying to scare her from herself as well. 'Faded pictures on the wall It's like they talkin' to me Disconnectin' your call Your phone don't even ring I gotta get out Or figure this shit out It's too close for comfort' This part can refer to may be a state of self quarantine. In order to make it disappear, may be she has locked herself from the world physically, example, disconnecting the calls. But all the pictures on the walls (may be of the happier days) are just mocking her to insanity. She wants out of this hell-hole. 'Release me from this curse I'm trying to remain tame But I'm struggling You can't go, go, go I think I'm going to oh, oh, oh ' She is not going to give in to it, she is going to gain her control again, after all she is the queen, but that doesn't mean that there is no struggle for power ensueing between the two egos. I don't get what the last two lines are for. But all in all, this is a very darkly portrayed song and I like it for that. It much reminds me of my current condition so may be my opinion is biased. |

We just work too hard, day after day, in order to make our lives seem like heaven but one day, when we achieve it after years and years of hard-work and yearning, and breaking so many promises, the heaven that we have made for ourselves is no longer the heaven that we wish because we have lost our loved one (breaking promises and stuff) in order to find our heaven. "Just so you know, you'll never know" - > Because you are dead already, so how will you ever know?
