Radiohead – Faust Arp Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I agree that this is about Goethe's Faust. The play was from the Romantic period, when people rejected reason, relying on intuition and imagination rather than logic. I feel like this song kind of mocks that nonsensical bullshit. It was a bad time for literature. |
Arrah and the Ferns – Science Books Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I love how folky this is. I always kind of thought it was about that thing that guys do when they push away respectable girls that they might actually feel something for, and instead go for the easy ones because they're afraid of getting emotionally involved. "...and you won't let me in unless I'm dirt." And of course, the frustration coming from the girl who loves him/the girl being pushed away. It's the whole "I hate you because I love you, why can't you let me in?" scenario. |

Jenny Lewis – The Charging Sky Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i might be completely off, but does anyone else think she's referencing sudan at some point? "Still they're dying on the dark continent It's been happening long enough to mention it Have I mentioned my parents are getting back together again? It's been twenty-five years Of spreading infection Somehow we're not affected" like showing how americans completely disregard the problems going on in other parts of the world. these things may come up in passing conversation but "somehow we're not affected." i don't know. i could be wrong. |
