The Drones – I Am the Supercargo Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Gareth Liddiard explained what this song was about at a solo acoustic set at the Globe in Brisbane. It is about the country of Papau New Guinea and how they were visited by an American man right after World War 2. Everyone in the country were basically from the stone age and this american bloke came over with all these new technologies and white goods such as fridges. They thought he was some sort of God. Seeing as though this country had only seen stone axes. "You would be pretty damn impressed with a fucking brand new Kalvinator" he said. It's a sad story |
Beastie Boys – Triple Trouble Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Arcade Fire – (Antichrist Television Blues) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is about creepy fucking parents who dress up their little babies in lipstick! |
Cold War Kids – Welcome to the Occupation Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this was loosely about a story the nathan heard. a teacher was teaching his subject and a student, clearly infuriated by his teaching, stood up and said, "I Don't have to listen to you, my Dad earns 5 x more than you!" and carried on. that teacher than quit his job days later. Also... Nathan Winlett was a substitute teacher before cold war began. so i guess it took a meaning on him. |
Cold War Kids – Cryptomnesia Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Nathan Willet said on the dvd that comes with the cd what this song was all about: "I came across the word in a reading about someone. He was being sued because of plagerism but it turned out to be cryptomnesia. Which is when your conscience is copying something but you really don’t remember where it came from. As I was writing the lyrics I listened to an old demo of us writing the song where I was singing nonsense words and tried to write the lyrics to what those words sounded like to kinda stay true to the idea of cryptomenisia." what a way to end an album. |

The Drones – Shark Fin Blues Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this has to be one of the greatest australian songs ever. i saw them at splendour this year, and was totally blown away. i knew they were good live but not that amazing. he was totally possesed by something, like the devil. his songs remind me a lot like nick caves stuff. i do believe this has to be about sucicde of contemplating life. theimagery in this tune is amazing. can't believe not many people have posted about this song. |
Kings of Leon – Cold Desert Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is the best track off the new album hands down. Reminds me of the tracks like Trani and Milk and Arizona. They really know how to finish an album. Not really their best album, truly expected more. I wish they would go back to Youth and Young Manhood. So raw and so wild. I guess we have to accept their polished sound, yeah? Just like we have to accept Bloc Party. |
Joy Division – She's Lost Control Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I can't believe how much this sounds like Interpol. Paul Banks must have been majorly influenced. This song is mind blowing |
The Rolling Stones – Wild Horses Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Geez! This song is absolutely amazing. 'Sticky Fingers' is one of my favourite albums of all time. |
The Veronicas – Untouched Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's so obvious this is about Dean Geyer. This is a stupid song. |
The Raconteurs – Carolina Drama Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Thank God for Bob Dylan. Without him, there would be no Jack White, no White Stripes and no Raconteurs. This song is so unbelievably Dylan-esque. Its strange, baffling though. III |
