Jenny Lewis – Born Secular Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is a bit more about loss then religion. ABsence, not god. It's hard to explain. It's like all she does is think "Why?" And the only answer she could think of that is even close to possible, is blame god, the thing that is already to late, and is already to corrupt for her to believe whole heartedly, especially because if this is true, all he's done is hurt her. No one wants to beleive in cruelty to that degree.

The end of this song, you know the part that has nothing to do with the rest of the song. lol

It fits with four other songs, It's crazy. One of them is So long.

Its really bothiring me, because I cant remember the other ones.

But this is really messing with my head.

Rilo Kiley – A Better Son/Daughter Lyrics 16 years ago
I kind of think that in the beginning, the mother is calling her insane and high. As in "Katie, your insane and high". I only think this because this is something my mom would say, and would say what Jenny said, or something a long those lines. And then feel guilty for no reason.

I relate to this song a lot.

The person 12345678910 pretty much caught the picure of the slow fade of love.

But having lived through it myself, I don't think there's a very good way to describe it. My boyfriend of 6 months never did anything but good to me, and I loved him, but eventually, it just... went away. I can't describe it, but It was love, until it wasn't.

Some of you seem to have nailed it, like really gotten the meaning. But if I may, this is what I hear in one sentence.

Can no one help me find what I am looking for in life?

Rilo Kiley – Pictures of Success Lyrics 16 years ago
Just want you to know-there's an add for teen depression on the bottom of this page right now. lol

I think you guys have it all wrong, I see something much different. I see a young couple, ones died. They were ambitious, excited, in love, and then, one of them is dead. She is alone, but what about her dreams? She's working, working. She knows she can't be afraid. "I am not scared, but the bills keep changing colors"

Wen he was alive, he dreamt of vacationing in mexico, and she's reminding him mexico can wait, they have to remember the now. But he's dead, he can go. So she's trying, she's trying to be strong, and she is almost jealous of her loved one.

She's imaging what it would be like, if she became successful, just like her and her lover had planned. She wants a break. But now its all of this stuff, like hospitals and freeways, that become so much more like a challenge, when he's dead. She probably lives in california, just ,like before he died, and she's starting to see she cant do it alone. She's ready to leave, give up.

The last part, these are times that can't be weathered. She's recognizing that just because she wants to escape, and try to dull down her life, she knows it will be this strong, stead repetition of life, because he's gone. We've never been back there since then. She can't ever be new, and fresh, without her love with her. He's dead.

I totally know how she feels. I am so so so so so in love with this guy who is just way out of my league. He is too good for me, too smart, and way to handsome. That's how I feel, it's like I shouldn't bother. thats what I get from the song.

and yes, its perfect live

Silversun Pickups – All the Go Inbetweens Lyrics 16 years ago
OK. First off, I really really don't think that this guy is a lunatic, I think it represents a kid like me. I am a person who thinks really really hard, and knows, and understands more then anyone should.

"Hey man, where can I go? It's too late to find holes in the ocean, I know.". I think that represents a sense of being lost. Like, wanting to go home, but already being there. Holes in the ocean are in my opinion best described as continents. Not literal holes. It's too late, because he already knows he will never be happy, no matter where. He knows more then what's good. He knows that.

"Hey man, stay here awhile, I will never find safety in numbers, here on the mile." The mile represents life, and he can't find anyone to be with him. He is begging "man" to stay with him, give him safety, by adding to his count of beating hearts, or numbers. The more people to help him along, the happier he will be. Just, no one is willing to stay by his side.

"Say man, is this in the right, I wanna heal the cracks in the sidewalk, and keep it alive. Set down on the ground and I laid my head down to see. I closed up my eyes as the numbers went by and that's when I started this dream." He's asking if the world will be o.k., the cracks in the side walk are the world, and he just wants to help, but there's nothing he can do, so he's laying down to think, and to understand how he can help the world. People like him are always trying to help, because they think their own happiness is less important then that of the others.

"Son, your still young but your mind has grown old it seems. Now go tell your sister to show me her new magazines," The man is not actually his father, but a masculine society. It is not masculine at all however, it is just the ruler of life. It IS society, and then it is recognizing the kid's emotions, and thoughts, but not caring, it wields it's head towards the sister, who I believe represents pop culture, and fame, and popular things,. The magazine is one of the biggest parts of pop culture, society is more interested in it's roots, then it is in a couple of people who understand far more then they should. Pop culture is a sister, because it is a part of our lives, in escapable, and it is always going to be that way. it is a sister because quite frankly, it is as important to all of us as family, wether we are willing to admit it or not.

"Said man, sit for awhile, said son, he said son 'How you've only begun on the mile on the mile on the mile'" Society is telling the child that he's only beginning, and he will learn to ignore the pestering things as time goes on, like everyone else has. Life has just begun for him, and he needs to understand this most of all, he understands, but can he learn that all you need to do is pretend its alright. The kid can't accept that.

"I've been to the moon and the stars and go in-betweens, now go tell your sister to stop playing with new machines." Society is telling the kid that he knows what it's like, just knowing to much, but, like I said, could care less. Society tells the kid that he's been there, done that, and how its come to this, nothing, so the kid should give up. Honestly, society has no idea. Society wants the kid to tell pop culture to cease the tampering with new technology. Advancements can only lead to bad things.

"Said I've been to the moon and the stars and the go in-betweens, now go tell your sister to stop playing with new machines," (REPEAT)

"tell them to keep things quiet" Society wants pop culture to relax. He wants the world to cease foolishness. But this order seems to me to be useless, and society knows that no matter how much he says stuff, it wont stop.

All the repetitions I believe are just for dramatic affect, to get the point across.

Bright Eyes – Arienette Lyrics 16 years ago
And the moon, it bleeds silver, but never sleeps
And then the silver turns to gray
So stay with me, Arienette, until the wolves are away

I remember I was with this guy, and I said how much I liked the moon, he sang this to me. We are both huge bright eyes fans, it was adorable. I love him so much.
