My interpretation seems to synthesize a lot of the above ideas, but with one new aspect:
The lines "forty million dollars, the kids don't stand a chance" made me think that maybe the song is talking about the children of the affluent. They have to inherit the capitalist/mercantilist pretty much greedy legacy of their parents (even though they don't agree with it, it provides their lifestyle), deal with the bullshit Columbia career challenge, face sexuality, face globalization... so pretty much for me, it is sort of a coming of age story, for the very elite rich. And then the realization that the kids of those people don't even have any chance of successfully dealing with the issues of the world, despite of that cash money in their pockets. |

i think this song is meant to draw attention to the problems in society. little kids dealing, and the whole drug trade, and how money obssessed society is, to the point where even little kids just want the money. it sorta brings the state of teh world into light, without being confrontational. |

i think this song is about how a guy has fallen in love with a girl, but she is elusive, and hard to get a hold of. he dreams about her, and they spent the night together a few times, but neither of them are able to make the relationship work. or it could be about the image of a perfect girl that a guy has, but he can never find that perfection in anyone. |

I think it has to do with a friends that end up falling in love, but they decide to lie to the parents because they know they wont approve. They gotta memorize the story, make sure it sounds legit... and in the end the girl still ends up leaving, just as her parents woudl have wanted her to, but the guy likes to check up, and make sure shes okay. so maybe this song is about a relationship where society or parents dont approve, so it cant happen, so both people seperate, but still help each other out. |

I think this song is mostly a political commentary. like america/britain promised the world they would tame iraq and the terrorists, but all they did was stick their heads in teh "jaws of the bloody beast" or the heart of the problems. i think the first few lines are supposed to represent Bush's reasoning, (hey, if iraq is broken, we can fix it right) and the last are about america's ambitions of dominance/peace and how they will be our ultimate downfall. |

I think this sogn has a lot to do with how people get so caught up in their plans, and their goals, that they fall asleep and dont even realize what is the reality around them. The war analogy is interesting, bloc party makes a lot of subtle political statements... so i think it has a little bit of everything in it. |

This is such a sad, beautiful song about a relationship slowly dying out, and how one person loves the other so much, but things arent working. I think it could also have to do with a shortlived fling, where one person ended up really falling hard, and the other doesnt care. It breaks my heart everytime i hear the lines "no one's gonna love you more than i do" because it kinda summarizes how people feel when the other person just doesnt even realize how much they care. |

I go to a prep school, and this song pretty much summarizes what it feels like to see someone that is your ex or someone that you are supposed to hate but secretly love. School campuses are sooo small, but ive been in situations where ive had to pretend ive never wanted to see a guy again. i love this song because it really captures getting up, walking across a quad, and then seeing the person your supposed to hate... but really love. |
