Iced Earth – Reaping Stone Lyrics 21 years ago
This song has always confused me.

Tool – Triad Lyrics 21 years ago
It's an instrumental. No vocals. That leaves the guitar, bass, and drums. A triad.

submissions
In Flames – Reroute To Remain Lyrics 21 years ago
I would say that the entire album "Reroute to Remain" is very thematic. Many of the songs deal with things changing.

Opeth – Nectar Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm not sure exactly on the complete meaning, but it is clearly sexual.

Opeth – Harvest Lyrics 21 years ago
Beautiful song.

Nevermore – Believe In Nothing Lyrics 21 years ago
The lyrics kinda remind me of John Lennon's "Imagine."

Opeth – Blackwater Park Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree with Supplanter about the song's meaning, and yes, Opeth is progressive death metal.

Pink Floyd – High Hopes Lyrics 21 years ago
Now that I've listened to the album more I think most of the songs on "The Division Bell" are about the band. If not directly then it can at least be very easily applied to the band.

submissions
Pink Floyd – Sorrow Lyrics 21 years ago
This is definitely one of their most poetic songs, right up there with "Echoes." And the solo is heart wrenching.

submissions
Pink Floyd – Poles Apart Lyrics 21 years ago
I think most of the songs on "The Division Bell" are specifically about the band or can at least be easily applied to the band.

Iced Earth – Diary Lyrics 21 years ago
It sounds to me like the speaker in this song is a vampire, perhaps Dracula because of the prince comment.

submissions
Iced Earth – Last December Lyrics 21 years ago
I think of this song as Iced Earth's take on Romeo & Juliet. It probably wasn't specifically inspired by that, but the stories are very similar nonetheless.

Iced Earth – Disciples Of The Lie Lyrics 21 years ago
It's pretty scary considering "Something Wicked This Way Comes" was released before the media made this such a popular subject.

There is so much emotion in the lyrics it almost makes you wonder if perhaps the song was inspired by some personal incident. Could this be what Jon means when he says he can relate with Dracula and the whole "being betrayed by the Church" thing?

submissions
Iced Earth – Dante's Inferno Lyrics 21 years ago
Actually the chanting isn't Latin or from any Satanic mantra, it's just some gibberish Jon made up because he wanted some chanting that sounded evil. Even though it doesn't mean anything it certainly does sound evil.

Iced Earth – Consequences Lyrics 21 years ago
It's really a great song. Possibly their most underrated.

submissions
Iced Earth – Burnt Offerings Lyrics 21 years ago
I think this song really shows the horrible state of mind Jon was in when the band was writing/recording "Burnt Offerings." No wonder this is his least favorite record.

Dream Theater – Home Lyrics 21 years ago
Julian is also a heavy gambler. This is my favorite song on SFAM.

submissions
Dream Theater – Another Day Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it is the worst of the four DT albums I own (Images and Words, Awake, Scenes From a Memory, and Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence). The vocals just seem too awkward on most of the record. I love the lyrics to this song, but the only two songs on the album I really like are "Pull Me Under" and "Metropolis - Part I."

Pink Floyd – High Hopes Lyrics 21 years ago
I agree with Iano. I think it is about the decline and break-up of the band. The chorus is very reminiscient like Gilmour wishes for the good old days before he and Roger's differences tore the band apart.

On a related note, I can see now why Gilmour didn't exactly get along with Waters. I mean, how would you feel if the principal song writer kept writing about how he wished the former guitar player was still around? I know I would be pretty miffed.

Dream Theater – Solitary Shell Lyrics 22 years ago
I think the greatest think about this song is the juxtaposition. The contrast between the happy sounding acoustic guitar and the depressing lyrics is genius.

Iced Earth – The Coming Curse Lyrics 22 years ago
I don't necesarily think that that line "alien to us, the spieces known as man" means aliens the way you are thinking of them, ID4 and all. I think it means that we, mankind as it exists today, are the aliens. I don't have all the answers though, and very well might be wrong, but most will probably be cleared up with the release of the Something Wicked concept album in 2005.

I completely agree IEF. There is more to life than just the soft and fluffy that music should reflect and I think Iced Earth does an excellent job of this.

When you think about it, apocalypses are pretty epic and that makes them great for concept albums.

Iced Earth – Something Wicked (Trilogy) Lyrics 22 years ago
I can't wait for the Something Wicked concept album that Jon says should be out in 2005.

Dream Theater – The Great Debate Lyrics 22 years ago
I doesn't state the bands opinion on which side is correct, but the "Turn to the light" part bothers me. I think that someone might take this part to back up whatever they believe and say that that stanza justifies it when that could be said of the other side as well.

Iced Earth – Watching Over Me Lyrics 22 years ago
Actually it is about one of Jon's friend and not Matt's. Jon Schaffer is the guitarist (and writes most of the songs, music and lyrics) and Matt Barlow does vocals.

submissions
Iced Earth – The Coming Curse Lyrics 22 years ago
While I'm not condemning or saying that this is a bad thing, it seems that Jon is a little obsessed with the Apocalypse. There is Night of the Stormrider, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and "Damien" from Horror Show all dealing with the end of the world.

submissions
Iced Earth – Ghost Of Freedom Lyrics 22 years ago
If you listen to the interview with Jon on the second disc of Horrow Show you will plainly hear him mention how moved he and Matt were by the movie and how it inspired this song. I never said that this was the ONLY inspiration they recieved.

Pink Floyd – Dogs Lyrics 22 years ago
I agree that Animals is their best album. There are songs I like better off of other albums, but Animals is just...I can't really explain it. Whether or not it is the best is definitely debatable, but it is easily their most underrated album.

Pink Floyd – Breathe Lyrics 22 years ago
I think it's just in there to fit with the whole Wizard of Oz connection. They say Roger always wanted to do the entire soundtrack for a movie. I guess he just picked one and went with it.

Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics 22 years ago
I don't have anything to say that already hasn't been said, but this is my favorite song. The solo at the end is just...heavenly...

Linkin Park – In The End Lyrics 22 years ago
This has to be one of my favorite songs despite the horrible music video ("What's with the flying whale?"). I apologize ahead of time because this is going to turn into a bit of a rant. Personally I think that "In the End" is the best song on their album. I am quite disappointed that it gets so much multiple personality radio station ("That was Dr. Dre now let's hear the latest from Tool") play though. Too much radio play can ruin a good song. Now all this people who don't understand the song or care about the band walk around singing it all day long. I guess everyone feels sorta betrayed after a band you liked when they were quite or relatively obscure starts selling gold and platinum numbers worth of records and becomes widely known. Back to the point at hand the song, like many LP songs, is about a relationship gone bad. If you think it is about the end of the world ("What's with the flying whale?") you should be shot in the head immediately to save the rest of us from your stupidity and to put you out of your misery. This same action should also be applied to anyone who types in all caps or LiKe ThIs, likes rap or pop music (despite the hip-hop influence obvious in LP's music), or likes the aforementioned "multiple personality radio stations." Basically if it doesn't have guitars it sucks. Rock On!

Iced Earth – Jack Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is Matt Barlow's take on the original serial killer, Jack the Ripper. In the song it is "Johnny's" prostitute mother who plants the seed that makes him what he becomes.

Iced Earth – Ghost Of Freedom Lyrics 22 years ago
