i skipped this song the first time i listened to the album but then i listened to it all the way through and i love the part when the ethereal sounding chorus comes in and then all the strange melodies get mixed together. the production on this whole album is top notch. |

i love how he sets up the sort of punchline of the chorus by making you think he's talking about doing it with just the girl. this song is great and i always impress my friends when i bust out the high part in tune!! |

yeah, obviously this song is about a guy trying to convince a girl that the douche she is with is not worth it because he's running around on her. i pretty much hate most popular music since the 90s and im really into classic rock. the first time i heard this song i couldn't believe this guys were a new band. they have a great sound, especially for just two guys. it really got me into the black keys. |

gotta love that synth part when it kicks in at the end. i think this song is kind of about the end of the 70s. i also like the allusion to tommy: black plastic deaf, dumb and blind. |

this is my favorite song from tommy. when taken in the context of the album and the opera, i don't think it has anything to do with a band or the band. it is tommy speaking to his followers and them speaking back about what he makes them feel. just my two cents... |

i didn't really care for the studio recording of this song, then i heard it on the reissue of who's next (with the bonus tracks), which i think was recorded live. anyways, for some reason, i really like the song when they play it at a faster tempo. |

i always thought (at least the chorus) refers to suicide... "razor boy" like slitting your wrists; "takes your fancy things away" because he dies.
that's the great thing about steely dan: all their lyrics are so great and cryptic that we could debate what this song is about all day. |
