Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree that this song is about revenge.... the narrator wanting to trade positions with the partner that has moved on. I've always supposed that in true Kate style, the song relates to a very specific incident, I choose to imagine a crippling car accident that has left the narrator bitter, alone and physically destroyed - wishing to trade places with the lover who still has a normal life, while she is ruined and alone. NO other version can hold a candle to Kate's original... they don't even come close.

she did NOT write it, John Barry and Donald Black did and it WAS made for that movie.... but this is the quintessential JB Theme... and Shirley ROCKS it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kate Bush – All the Love Lyrics 16 years ago
Yet another MASTERPIECE. I think this song is all about how people give lip-service to being concerned, connected and loving to their friends, but they really only show up when there is some sort of tragedy or drama that they can insert themselves into, for the real purpose of making themselves feel better, rather than offering any kind of real and consistent connection to those they claim to love. Kate realizes this and says from now on she will only give of herself what they expect, and keep the real her to herself, letting her answering machine deal with them instead of actually getting dragged into their superficial relationships again.

Steely Dan – Glamour Profession Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song, like Gaucho, is about an immigrant who has made it as a pro athlete, in this case, most likely a Basketball star, Thebulk of the narrative is a commentary on what type of lifestyle newly rich athletes and their fans aspire to

Steely Dan – Gaucho Lyrics 16 years ago
I have always thought the narrator of the song was a manager talking to his client, an athlete... probably a pro wrestler or rodeo star ( i get this from the spangled leather poncho refernce) ... warning him to keep his homosexuality secret so as not to ruin his budding career (just when I say boy we cant miss, you are golden, now you do this) or offend their sponsors (heavy rollers) I agree, this is a highly underrated album... one of my favorites along with Royal Scam
