I tend to think that this song is about a over-paranoid drug dealer (as most of them are). Particularly because he says "The deal is getting ill." Plus, the line "everything i do is to try and fuck you up!" makes sense to my theory because drug dealers are often paranoid that their friends/customers are constantly talking behind their backs in order to get them in trouble... |

Kaze, I have seen that video and I always assumed he was referring to either sara or joan baez.
I think this song is simply about forgiveness from somebody you love. Several times in dylan's hardcore drug phase, like during 1975, he had offended both sara and Joan Baez several times but he was close with both of them so this song could have easily have been inspired by either of them.
I disagree with anything about using religion to get sex from a girl, dylan is not that shallow and that was a stupid thing to post... |

Basically, this song is about irony. The Greek hangs himself even though everyone is about to die anyway, the loser wins in gambling right before he is about to die, the big "tough" soldier wants to have "forbidden love" with a tiny man, and the woman does find love but it's too late because they are about to die so she "sheds a tear and begins to pray." And finally, the ultimate irony is that the speaker saw all this on the 7 o'clock news and just shuts it off. It doesn't even matter to him... |

I would have to disagree with all of u....:
To understand this song you need to understand the album:
Ween describes Boognish as in between Heaven and Hell. A Mollusk is a creature that can live in water and in land. The mollusk represents boognish! Think about it, some songs, such as "mutilated lips" "Ocean Man" etc sound like they are underwater. Thats when the mollusk is under water. Then, some songs like "The Blarney Stone" and "Waving my dick in the wind" sound like they are above water. I think the album is the mollusk journeying above and below water but at the end he decides to stay down below in the water. Maybe thats saying boognish prefers his hell side and is a little bit evil. Anyone agree with this? |
