I think it's about how we can still embrace fear without being neurotic. fear is there for a reason, and to live without it would cause somebody to become jaded, but to let it control you would be detrimental to your life. so we must overcome it, and in this way we also retain some of our childlike innocence without being crippled by fear of the unknown. |

Good call on the Bosch parallel Chloe! This was supposed to be a tropicalia album, so i think alot of the lyrics might have to do with the colonization of Brazil. Later in the song when the lyrics start mentioning hand grenades and searchlights, we might be moving on to the military coup that Brazil had going on from the 60s to the 80s. So maybe the theme of the song is the culture clash between conquerers and indigenous people. |

the chord progression is the same as that in pachelbel's canon, which isnt too unusual in pop music, but significant here because canon was also used in evangelion. the amount of very good original music in evangelion is very notable. rei I, II, and III and also dance like you want to win come to mind. never thought id hear steel guitar in a light bubbly song about suicide before lol. |

my mother told me a story about the 1st and only time she tried LSD (hey, she grew up in the 70s) anydangway, her trip lasted for 3 days, in which she didnt sleep or eat and everything she saw was purple. so everytime i hear this song i think about that, cause she kinda got "stuck in the sky when she was high" you know?
I also really enjoy the opening 30 seconds of the song, with the tinny lo-fi snippets from further in the track. kinda reminds me of the AM radio gimmick in Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here. |
