LCD Soundsystem – All I Want Lyrics 11 years ago
I think the is the best song in the album along with "Home", which is kind of interesting I since think they portray kind of the same message. I believe this talks about the moment James Murphy realizes he has to let go the band. Going back to your home after touring and realizing you are a stranger in your own house, practically begging his wife to notice him (the one who has put up with all his shit). Maybe at the beginning when he began touring they got into constant fights which ended in pity tears from her but now she just doesn´t care anymore, everyone just got used to live without him. I picture this moment kind of like in the Godfather II when Michael Corleone arrives to his house after going to Cuba and finds his house very cold and distant to him and notices he has been pushing away everyone around him, its a very devastating moment realizing you are completely alone, even Francis Ford Coppola said that he thought this was the worst punishment for a man.

What I think is very interesting is the final distortion of the song. I don´t know but I really think thats how the mind feels with all this chaos going on and mixed feelings, you know, loving to tour and loving his band but also knowing that this is destroying his personal life. Its like the mind being very confused and in pain. I think he nailed that feeling in a sound, its really impressive for me. I believe he is going to be known as one of the greatest music geniuses of this century, his music is waaaaaay superior to almost anything I´ve heard.

LCD Soundsystem – Home Lyrics 12 years ago
Yeah, I guess if you watch the video this song becomes clearer. Its a goodbye song from the band that portrays the evolution of the breakup and explains why they took the decision of "going home" in the peak of success. How being a successful band demanded their complete devotion to please the audience and give a perfect show everytime, as well as the constant touring and excesses inherent to being a rockstar that was causing internal destruction as well as their disintegration as human beings and band. They all wanted what lcd soundsystem gave them, but the price was everything, and you know, everything was never the deal. I think that most of this song however, actually talks about the band´s discussion of breaking apart, they are unsure if they actually need the lcd soundsystem rockstar lifestyle, i mean in the end it is a musicians dream to have made it like they did, and they are actually unsure if this is a necessity for them, and if they actually need it, it is going to be very difficult to give it up, but what they do know is that they actually fear the lifestyle´s side effects and the internal destruction it brings. So the question is: are you afraid of what you need? because if you do, well it is a big issue and it is going to tear you apart. So they say ok, this is our last chance now, are we going to leave this all behind or not, do you want this life and the sacrifices required, being lcd soundsystem gives us the advantage of breaking the rules until it gets weird or like nothing will last, and all of that will be gone. Whatever the decision is, they have to make things clear, either they go home and finish this or they have to make peace with themselves and accept the sacrifices. They are trying to convince themselves of not fearing what they need saying look around you, were surrounded, and it wont get any better. In the video it is better explained...

Cocteau Twins – Cherry-Coloured Funk Lyrics 13 years ago
Actually, Liz Frazer did consume a lot drugs by this stage of her career, and not only her, but the whole cocteau twins were inmerse in a variety of problems, including drug abuse. The whole album Heaven or las Vegas is an abstract trip, with songs to be taken as contemplative photographs that not necessarily have one particular meaning. This doesnt mean that the lyrics itself dont mean anything and are just gibberish, its just that theres a lot of ideas in one song at the same time and reading them as whole doesnt make any sense. Liz´s mind was a bit chaotic when recording this album, she had just given birth to her daughter and some of the band members were not fit to record due to drug abuse, which made them change band members when recording. They also had a lot of trouble with the label because of constant delays in the recording process. A lot of instability. This song kind of pictures the whole situation, not much making any sense in the way of making a statement. Its just beautiful chaos and abstract thoughts in dark music. Yeah... I dont see a lot of Enya here... But I do see a lot of inspiration for bands like Beach House.

The Doobie Brothers – What A Fool Believes Lyrics 16 years ago
You guys are near, but not quite. I read from an interview with Mcdonald that this song is about two people that used to date a long time ago and suddenly they encounter again randomly, so they make an appointment to talk in a restaurant. The thing is that within this restaurant date, the guy is in this awkward moment because he is telling the woman old stories about when they used to date and he realizes that she really doesn´t care about them. For the guy, she is the love of her life and he still can´t let her go, but for her he was just some guy from a long time ago and doesn´t care anymore. So here he is, at the end of the date, and he knows that he is not going to see her again, but still in a foolish way believes that in a mysterious way she is one dat going to show up and tell him she is in love with him, but for everyone it is obvious that she doesn´t care for him.
