EXITMUSIC – Passage Lyrics | 10 years ago |
Ghosts? I feel it's about depression and insomnia, and the exasperation of having to take medication for something that's not your fault. Or perhaps "I'm up". "alone", "breathless", "loneliness" |
Crippled Black Phoenix – we've forgotten who we are Lyrics | 11 years ago |
Just phenomenal. what a song. It strikes me about being about how shit the human race has become. |
Menomena – Tithe Lyrics | 12 years ago |
What an incredible song. It's clearly religious. And probably anti religious. Wondferful lyrics, and quite cryptic. The lyric that bugs me is the: "beneath the door frame" - That could be a Jewish reference I think, as they hang prayers from doorframes. |
Embrace (UK) – That's All Changed Forever Lyrics | 12 years ago |
This is a lovely song. Embrace are an easy target to hate. But this is a well written song about lost love and depression. |
Echo and the Bunnymen – Fools Like Us Lyrics | 12 years ago |
2012 - and no one has commenetd on this? It's beautiful. He'll find love one day. etc. |
Darren Hanlon – The Unmade Bed Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Perhaps the greatest lyricist of the last 10 years. A lovely little song about nostalgia and youth |

One of the greatest pieces of music created in the last 10 years |

Mt. Desolation – State Of Our Affairs Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Great song. seems to be about the madness of the world we live in. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Codes and Keys Lyrics | 13 years ago |
What a beautiful song. Codes and Keys..hmm. What to amke of that line, the song and considering thats the title of the album it's obviously meaningful to Ben G. Fear, jealousy and single life are all referenced. Thats what the song is about to me. Feeling life is too good to be true. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Unobstructed Views Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Zooey |
Death Cab for Cutie – You Are a Tourist Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Its about destiny. This song should have been in 500 Days of Summer ;) The riff is insanely catchy, and the song is so well produced. He's just saying follow your heart and enjoy life. |
Death Cab for Cutie – St. Peter's Cathedral Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This is the standout track on the album for me. These lyrics are proof of Gibbards stunning songwriting. He's described perfectly what some of us spend years wondering, in a 4 and a half minutes. |
Death Cab for Cutie – St. Peter's Cathedral Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Yup. well descriebd |
Damien Jurado – Sheets Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It certainly is an amazing song. I can't stop listening to it. There's not many "male specific" songs out there about heartbreak. This one captures it perfectly. |
Regina Spektor – Laughing With Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Yup. This is it. This is what she's saying. Good song. |
Shearwater – La Dame et la Licorne Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I cannot believe there are only 6 comments about this song. It is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. honestiron's reply seems to nail it! Amazing, amazing stuff! |
Death Cab for Cutie – What Sarah Said Lyrics | 15 years ago |
fantastic song. It touched me. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Bixby Canyon Bridge Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The ending of this song is quite phenomenal. The drums esepcially. How can you follow that on an album? I don't think they did really, it should probably have been the last song not the first. |
Death Cab for Cutie – Marching Bands of Manhattan Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Jesus Christ I love this song. It's one of the most beautiful I've ever ehard. I think he is in love with someone but can't tell her. Or can't express it. It might be because he's not ready for it yet, as he says: "when the sun shines again I'll pull the curtains and blinds to let the light in" The song is all if's and buts. Therefore he's expressing extreme regret at not being able to do what he wants to do. And presumably because of this, HER love is going to drown as its not the right time. What an amazing song. |
Robyn – With Every Heartbeat Lyrics | 16 years ago |
agree about the radio 1 live lounge version. Its the only version I've heard and is simply amazing. good old fashioned break up song I suppose. |
Beth Orton – Devil Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
brilliant song. Its like having a bad guy and a good guy on each shoulder. I want revenge but that would bring me down to her / his level. |
Duke Special – No Cover Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Can't believe no one has commented yet. This is a beautiful song. I think the narrator screwed thjings up with a loved one - and regrets it so much it hurts. |
Moby – When It's Cold I'd Like to Die Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What a beautiful song. I agree its a bout being so, so desperate that you are on the evrge of giving up. Therefore its about death, wether thats being in hospital or committing suicide etc, I'm not sure. But what a great tune. |
Interpol – Pace Is the Trick Lyrics | 16 years ago |
what a brilliant song. I can't stop listening to it. Best on the enw album by a long way. Love it when he sings: "And now I select you, So that I let you, See how I stun. See how I stun." I think its about someone who's been so hurt by women he has a kind of hatred for them, and is more or less resigned to being hurt again in any future relationship he ever has. |
The Veils – Jesus for the Jugular Lyrics | 16 years ago |
amazing song. Can't work out if Andrews is talking about a hostage situation or the double standards of religion. Probably the latter. |
The Veils – More Heat Than Light Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Woah. What a song. And all it is is Minor chord to Major chord all the way through. I think the songs about the Iraq war. "Imperial Disaster" "burning down the ghettos". The dolphin is a symbol of freedom. People polishing it - getting their hopes up. However, theres a lot of other stuff in there that might mean I'm way off track. |
The Veils – The Leavers Dance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Christ. what an amazing song. so glad I discovered them. It really does want to make you cry this song. So powerful. loontje Has the answer to the lyrics I think. |
The Veils – Under The Folding Branches Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What a brilliant, beautiful song. Its nostalgia I think. He's talking about memories of a girl he thought he once loved i suppose. |
Biffy Clyro – Living Is a Problem Because Everything Dies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
What an incredible song. Cant believe there's only 9 replies. Its about his mum and all that I guess, but also the fraility and false pretenses that religion can endure. |
The Black Heart Procession – A Light So Dim Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is the spookiest BHP song. I love it. I agree about the Bass kicking in....just perfect. I think its about false hope and pure delusion too....but he must be referring to something. What I don't know. |
The Black Heart Procession – We Always Knew Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I have no idea what the lyrics mean, but its an amazing song. Somebody help me out!! He COULD be talking about his relationship (or lack of) with is mother / father. |
The Black Heart Procession – A Heart Like Mine Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Its a brilliant song by the ebst band on the planet. Its a story that conjures up images of stormy nights, captures and big ships and lost love. Just brilliant. I agree about the drinking. It makes me wan to put on a false beard, crack open a bottle of rum and talk about pirates. |
The Black Heart Procession – Waterfront (The Sinking Road) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Not 1 person has commented on these ebautiful lyrics yet!!! The BHP are the best band in the world right now. Amaazing I think the song is either about anti Bush U.S.A: you want to wash away what ills your heart you swollen with a crime OR its about a criminal that got away with a crime. |
The Veils – A Birthday Present Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is absolutely gorgeous. The Veils are my new favourite band. I guess its an anti bush song, and how nuclear war aint far off: The tedious thoughts of the head of state Are seldom ever worth revealing O li o Indelible stains on the human race You hideous fakes and murderers! |
Sia – Breathe Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Self harm, Insecurity, loneliness, boredom. Probably the most beautiful song I have ever heard. |
Beth Orton – Blood Red River Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Lost frienship due to greed /drifting apart. |
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Oh My Lord Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is one of only a handful of songs that make me grit my teeth with emotion when I hear it. Its simply wonderful. My interpretation of it is simple: Media Intrusion: They called at me through the fence They were not making any sense They claimed that I had lost the plot Kept saying that I was not The man I used to be and But their words of derision meant they hardly knew me and I grab my telephone, I call my wife at home She screams, "Leave us alone!" I say, "Hey, it`s only me" and Into the hollows of glamour, where with spikes and hammer With telescopic camera, they chose to turn the screw |
