Well if it's about jealousy, he's saying that what the women is doing by fraternizing with the other man is shocking the weak part of him (his monkey part). So he's saying he's weak and the jealousy she's stirring up in him is hurting him bad. It's a plea for her to be more sensitive and appreciate his feelings and not stir up his feelings, after all he and we are just monkeys mostly. It's hard to be noble and trust your woman in the company of another man and maybe few do. |

Awesome song. To me (without having read the lyrics) it meant that even Mick Jagger the devil, was very human and needed shelter. It's a masterpiece, perhaps one of the few songs where he shows his vulnerability. |

OK, I'm into the end of the age Christain stuff.
Madonna was on American Bandstand in the Early 80's and Dick Clark asked her what she wanted to do with her life. She said "Rule the World". She lived in New York I think early in her caree and in my mind, my theory is that she got to know Howard Stern and Rupert Everett. I think they sort of revealed to her who they really are and this scared the living daylights out of her. That's her secret she knows who they are and she knows she's really a Christian after all and not into ruling the world.
When Howard Stern says he'd the King of All Media, what he's really saying I think is that he is the False Prophet mentioned in the Scriptures. Rupert Everett would then be the Anti-Christ...
I know it's just a way out paranoid Christian theory but it's different from anything suggested here so far...Exciting eh? |

To me (before I read the actual lyrics) it was kind of an indictment of me. Basically it was saying you have everything going for you but you get nowhere and you can't figure out that it's your fault because your a selfish clueless insensitive person...I hated the song for many years but it's grown to be one of my favorites. |
