Rascal Flatts – Where You Are Lyrics 17 years ago
i love how this song is about how a woman changes this guys entire life and makes his entire world just seem so much better just because shes in it, hence "when im on my way, your a mountain top, when i reach for you your love lifts me up" as if her love makes him carry on and want to achieve his life goals

Paul Simon – Under African Skies Lyrics 17 years ago
As far as I know, we can sit here and try to interpret what Paul Simon is singing about or what inspired him to sing these songs. All I know is the Graceland album is one of my favorites of all time. As far as trying to interpret, it is interesting listening to peoples ideas, but as far as I am concerned, only Paul knows why he writes his sings. So I try to just sit back and just listen to amazing music. I think we can all agree on that.

Paul Simon – Under African Skies Lyrics 17 years ago
I think mercurygirl 86 is right, Paul Simon does relate to the Bible in a few of his songs, which shows his faith in God. Not to be preaching about God and all, since religion is another discussion on its own and will go on forever, but his relation to the Bible in this song is relevant and I do believe that this song is in relation to it.

Paul Simon – I Know What I Know Lyrics 17 years ago
the reference "Who am I to blow against the wind" is about just not arguing and just going with the flow of the conversation because disagreeing will be overcome, as would you blowing against the wind.. the wind would overpower you no matter how hard you try. it could also make reference to her beauty and how he is so struck by it that he doesn't resist what she says.

Paul Simon – Graceland Lyrics 17 years ago
graceland is most likely a reference to a place where there is no pain and everyone is loved there. He is searching for "Graceland", a place where he can't be hurt after losing his wife. Looking for a place with his son where they won't be judged but will be accepted and loved. Making reference to the girl in NYC shows that he is not the only one who has been "bounced" on and that he is not the only one looking for this "graceland" and that the open window in your heart is a reference to everyone seeing the devistation brought to you by this breakup but in "graceland" it doesn't matter, because you will be received there. A place that is in a sense "perfect".

Paul Simon – All Around the World or the Myth of Fingerprints Lyrics 17 years ago
I feel you guys are right in a sense that everything is based on judging people and ranking them. The myth of fingerprints is a statement saying that fingerprints were all the same in the beginning, but the discover that no two are alike has created a separation of people based on race, creed, religion and who you are. This is obviously a song about how people now-a-days think that they are better than someone else just based on "our" standards. Paul Simon wrote this after his visit to Africa and his experience over there made him most likely realize that they are all suffering and that the myth of fingerprints doesn't exist anymore because many people turn their heads and feel that they are better than the Africans in need and that it is a separate issue that only the people over there should handle. Atleast thats how I feel... I may be wrong in som parts but then again I have also been drinking pretty hard while listening to this song, found the website and thought it was amazing so I decided to comment on how I feel. However, I believe Paul Simon is one of the greatest artists of all time. Anybody disagree?

Paul Simon – The Boy in the Bubble Lyrics 17 years ago
I think the boy in the bubble is a reference to Americans and their lack of interest of the issues going on in Africa. Since a bubble is protective and leaves you secluded from the world, it is possible that the American government provides that bubble around us and leaves us excluded from the real issues that Paul Simon experienced in Africa.

Paul Simon – You Can Call Me Al Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a man who feels his life is meaningless and noone will remember him because he hasnt done anything right. Hence, Al might not be his name but you can call him that since it doesn't really matter. He's lost in his life and is trying to find himself and is searching for someone to protect him. Possibly a lover, who he calls Betty. He feels alone and if she is his bodyguard (a person who is always with you) he can regain control of his life.
