I really like this song because it's filled with metaphors that can be taken so many ways. Plus this is the song that got me hooked on Portugal. the man, and the music video is awesome. I think of fall for the chorus "Fashion Fashion ballrooms of the leaves, We'd like to watch the ghosts dance." I think of the leaves blowing around on the ground and the "ghosts" that move those leaves as they dance The other part that I like about this song is the reversed wording in the first two lines or so "mouthed up ties" = tied up mouths maybe "spit you up river" = spit up that river for you but like I said this can be taken so many ways |

I understand what your thoughts on this song being about drugs, but the entire album is not about drugs. Not every song is about drugs, you're just stuck in that frame of mind so START THINKING! I'm guessing parts of this as some natural disaster. Maybe the tsunami, or hurricane katrina. My other guess is a war of somekind or a siege of some sort. palms are fitted black finely tuned to triggers that cause bodies to tremble- Black tactical gloves wrapped around guns He won't come down - suggests that the head of the operation whether criminal or governmental won't sway |

The religion thing sounds pretty good. Carpenter = Jesus Weathermen = Moses and Aaron(told pharoh about the plagues most of which could be mildly considered weather. They are also part of the "Levi / Levite" tribe.) Brother = I don't have a good one for this other than it's us. Because Jesus claimed everyone to be his brother.
