Porcupine Tree – Blackest Eyes Lyrics 12 years ago
So. If you have makeup on, for example eyeliner around your eyes, and you start crying...the makeup will flow down your face.

Porcupine Tree – Blackest Eyes Lyrics 12 years ago
Anyone notice that he's not actually singing 'eyes' but 'eye'?

"Swim me with me into your blackest eye", hmm..I wonder what that could mean....

Self explanitory - how libido takes over sense.

IAMX – Oh Beautiful Town Lyrics 13 years ago
I see this as a kind of sequel to Think Of England. It's like an ironic thank you "Thank you, childhood, for turning me into what I am today....you fuckers." It describes the resentment he has, and had, for the world he grew up in for making him think he could be more than he could.

The final verse though seems to have a tinge of regret to it...it's like a regression to his childhood world. The words like 'insolent' and 'desperation' make it sound like he feels guilty...and I don't know why, but the use of the 'are you still awake?' makes me think his parents are dead, and he feels guilty about talking so badly about his childhood when he knows his parents did the best they could. Course, that's just me. But it fits. Sort of.

Anathema – A Simple Mistake Lyrics 13 years ago
You forgot to put the female part in the second chorus:

Feel renewed inside
Feel the truth in life
See beyond the sky
Beyond our waking eyes

And when the night is long
Feel I don't belong
And when the sky is grey
You turn to me and say
"Love is all we are,
Together or apart".
And then the light of day
Calls you on your way
Feel renewed inside
Feel the truth in life
See beyond...
See beyond...

It's never too late.

Alanis Morissette – I Was Hoping Lyrics 14 years ago
I'm not completely sure what the "we could be creamy together" line is referring to. It seems to change the tone quite considerably.

Alanis Morissette – That I Would Be Good Lyrics 14 years ago
I do sort of feel like a lot of people seem to have missed the point here.

The key line here is "That I would be good whether with or without you" - it's totally not what you expect the last line to be.

Ashes Divide – Enemies Lyrics 14 years ago
A fair bit of these lyrics is completely wrong. This is my corrected version - still not completely sure about that last line, but the rest of it is pretty much right.

I've done hell to my safe holding
I've held my blood in such low standing
I blame these sad things on me

Cut a smile in my face so you'll intake some fleeting comfort

Close in

Contaminate your world with my touch
But you brandish the weapon of passive aggression

It seems like
Your idea of perfect in mind
I'm perfectly in line
So let's be enemies
To see the sun go away

Would you think I'd let you in
I've grown to suffer you lashing out at me
To see the sun go away

Don't deny my tolerance
Don't take away these sad things from me
And that ain't nothing
You should see what I'd do to me

Cut a smile in my face so you'll intake some fleeting comfort
You've built a wall of beauty to help tolerate any discomfort

From...

Your idea of perfect in mind
I'm perfectly in line
So lets be enemies
To see the sun go away

Would you think I'd let you in
I've grown to suffer you lashing out at me

I will stand alone

Your idea of perfect in mind
I'm perfectly in line
So lets be enemies
To see the sun go away

My idea, unless you're blind is
Having you far away

I'm pretty sure the opening line is 'Dime todo lo que pasó', or tell me everything that happened.

Placebo – The Bitter End Lyrics 16 years ago
Incidentally, the lyrics at the end...anyone been able to work them out? The ones someone posted up earlier are clearly wrong, but I'm having trouble getting them myself.

This is what I have so far:

From the time we intercepted
Feels a lot like suicide
Slow and sad, come in silence
I walked a bitter mile
Lovers seem to run around
What's sicker now?
Wannabes - I want out
Bitter blood seeps inside
Grab the jealous and sigh
For your crimes
It's six months' time
In six months' time
The mess you left will end

The 'bitter blood...jealous and sigh' is pretty clearly wrong but that's asgood as I can get. Any ideas?

VNV Nation – Beloved Lyrics 16 years ago
I love the way that everyone who posts here has a different interpretation of this song. Self-inclusive.

I personally see this as the memoirs, so to speak, of a dying man who returns to a significant place from his past, the place from all the happy memories he has of them together, to die.

Evidence:
"It's colder than before" - it's obvious it's a return visit
It seems so fitting don't you think to dress the ground in white and grey?" - the obvious pathetic fallacy

"Please don't ask me why I´m here.
Something deeper brought me than a need to remember." - he's not here to remember - he's here to do something else, something he doesn't want to tell her about [die?]

"No pain remains, no feeling.
Eternity awaits.
Grant me wings that I might fly.
My restless soul is longing.
No pain remains, no feeling.
Eternity awaits."
All represent dying.

Celldweller – The Last Firstborn Lyrics 16 years ago
I've recently noticed that this song has a lot of things related to Welcome To The End, and Birthright.

It's making me start to wonder if there's a recurring story across the albums?

Argentite is a play on words from 'don't cry for me Argentina'. Subtle.

Sonata Arctica – Letter To Dana Lyrics 17 years ago
Maybe this is just me, but I've always made the connection as the narrator being Dana's brother, hence his knowledge of what's going on with the rest of the family.
