R. Kelly – The Greatest Sex Lyrics | 16 years ago |
OMG! Am I really the first to commit on this song? This is a great "love making" song. R. Kelly doing what he does best. |
Kanye West – Everything I Am Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Pikachu is right (lol). This song is urging the listener to stay true to themselves. Kanye explains that your experiences, both good and bad, make you the person you are today. "I know people wouldn't usually rap this But I got the facts to back this Just last year Chicago had over 600 caskets Man, killing's some wack shit" See say what you want about Kanye but this is some deep stuff right here and it definitely goes against the grain of rap today. Props to you Kanye, your on another level. |
Kanye West – Champion Lyrics | 16 years ago |
This album is amazing. Ye still on top! |
She Wants Revenge – These Things Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Don't be stupid. The Popsicle is CLEARLY a phallic reference as hungdaddy pointed out. I also think it is supposed to be slightly figurative to explain how she is getting off on her own to avoid having sex with him (her bf). I really think this song is about sex addiction or a man who cheats on his gf. That seems like the clearest explaination to me. The way I see it the guy is in a relationship and isn't getting it enough so he goes out and has sex with someone else and his gf finds out. My evidence is: "I try to whisper so no one figures it out." He trys to cheat and not get caught but he does. And now that she knows he cheated "She's in the bathroom - she pleasures herself. Says I'm a bad man. She's locking me out." She thinks he bad now and is locking him out (not putting out for him). But this just my interpretation.... |
Nellie McKay – David Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh I forgot to say what this song is about. I read somewhere that she said this song was about how she "song stalked" this guy that lived in her apartment building named David. This sounds right when matched with the lyrics (david don't you hear through the wall) and becomes more apparent with the line "david dear I'm just down the hall." The fact that she had a crush on someone in her building but never talking somehow makes this song sweet in a way. I love Nellie!!! |
Nellie McKay – David Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I like the catchy melody and the lyrics of this song. "just pour me a drink cuz I need a kick I don't wanna think I just wanna sip" I can relate! |
Röyksopp – Remind Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I agree with dengeist , when I listen to this song I think its about how some things remind you of the past or just appier times in general. dengeist said it best when he/he said, "Sometimes when you go to places you've been before you are reminded of happier times. But right now, you're lonely and not in a relationship. But sometimes it's good to remember what it was like." |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Pomp and Circumstances Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Best song on the album! Such a beautiful reflection on life and love. And ZenbfullTangerine, this is the Pumpkins style ....Go back and listen to Adore! |
The Smashing Pumpkins – (Come On) Let's Go! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Good but no where near as good as 1979 or Perfect! Not even in the same league but a good angsty song. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Neverlost Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the melody and drums in this song. It is also one of my personal favorites from the album. "Every turn is torture thought Every kicking of the drum" I loved this line. I think it speaks to how it can sometimes be torture to think about that person that you love or loved. It also shows how every heatbeat (kicking of the drum) becomes painful. I love this song. Can't stop listening to it. |
Mogwai – Take Me Somewhere Nice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Simply put this is a beautiful song. I love how his voice is almost a part of the instrumental. This is my second favorite driving song (number one is Untitled 5 (Alafoss) by Sigur Ros) |
James Iha – Lover, Lover Lyrics | 17 years ago |
First post!!!! I love James' voice in this song. This song is laid back love song. |
James Iha – One And Two Lyrics | 17 years ago |
OMG OMG first post! I got Jame's solo album after thinking one day that he only sang on nine Pumpkins songs out of all the albums they made. But it was after hearing Believe from Judas O that I wanted more James Iha. This song sounds a little like Believe or The Bells. This is a great love song about never wanting to "never let go" of that special person. "if i give you all my heart could and i'm true all my life i waited for and there's nothing left no there's no-one else to live for" Beautiful songwriting and a beautiful voice = great music for late nights |
Bright Eyes – A Perfect Sonnet Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This is the best and my favorite Bright Eyes song... |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Blank Page Lyrics | 17 years ago |
First and foremost I have to say this is my second favorite Pumpkins song. This song is simply amazing and the way I see it pure poetry. Now with that said I read ALL of the previous comments and I think ryno23 had the overall best answer. He said everything I would have said but before me. Basically this song is explained as follows: "This is someone who has finally realized they lost someone special. Sombody that they loved deeply, but took them for granted and didnt express/care for their love until it was too late. BC feels so sick that this has happened; and that he was so impotent to express himself when he had the chance. But in a burst of rage he runs after this "lost love" and finds that she has moved on, remarried. And that it's his fault for not caring for her and expressing his love when he had the chance. take a day plant some trees may they shade you from me may your children play beneath This is a final goodwill message. Perhaps a suicidal message. Stating that she was everything, and BC lost her, and its a hope that she will have happiness, a family, children, and hopefully remember the man that loved her so, but was so mixed up, so pathetic toward her, so unable to love, that he wasnt able to share with her and be the man she deserved." That last sentence is simply breathtaking ryno23, just like this song. P.S. I have the live version too and it is mindblowing! |
Jackson Browne – Late for the Sky Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Looking hard into your eyes There was nobody I'd ever known Such an empty suprise To feel so alone." "Awake again, I can't pretend That I know I'm alone, And close to the end" This is amazing song writing! This song is awe inspiring. |
Leonard Cohen – In My Secret Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love the way this man sings this song. Incredible! |
Tracy Bonham – Whether You Fall Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is amazing. The most inspirational verse for me is: "Maybe all eyes are on you As you finish the race And the world sees you struggling For last place " P.S. I heard this in a great TV show...The L Word |
The Smashing Pumpkins – If There Is a God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I have the piano version of this song and it is simply beautiful. It reminds me of "What If God Was One of Us" by Joan Osborne. I like how the song deals with various aspects of belief in God by asking questions inviting the listener to consider how they might relate to God, such as "Are you one of us flying blind?" Truely an amazing song. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Never Let Me Down Again (Depeche Mode cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes, yes its obvious the song is about drugs. Now back to Billy Corgan's whispering low voice making this song so relaxing and melodious. |
Jackson Browne – Jamaica, Say You Will Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I also love this song. I came across it while watching a episode of "The Wonder Years." I seems like the perfect summer love song. I just sit back and listen to: "Jamaica, say you will Help me find a way to fill these empty hours Say you will come again tomorrow" |
Journey – Faithfully Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think a pol taken showed that this was the number one prom song at some point. But I think it would make an excellent first dance song at a wedding. |
The All-American Rejects – It Ends Tonight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is awesome. I love the line "I give the final blow" Its like him trying to have power in he failing relationship. |
Lupe Fiasco – The Cool Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I love how Lupe is simply observing and scrutinizing his surroundings as any growing man would do yet makes it so poetic. |
Lupe Fiasco – Hurt Me Soul Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yea I agree with tia 2008 but on a broader note it seems like its about liking anything that you might fundamentally disagree with. This song is so real. Lupe is the illest. I like how he is just a story teller more than a rapper. |
311 – Amber Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I'm guessint that from what I read on the first three pages that you guys don't know that Nick wrote this song about Nicole Scherzinger. In case you don't know Nicole Scherzinger is the smoking hot lead singer of The Pussy Cat Dolls the women that Nick was engaged too. This explains all the feelings contained in this song |
Brand New – Jesus Christ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Amazing song. I love the lyrics and the music!!! Best line: "And the ship, went down, in sight of land. And at the gates, does Thomas, ask to see my hands?" |
The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"There's a club, if you'd like to go You could meet somebody who really loves you So you go, and you stand on your own And you leave on your own And you go home, and you cry And you want to die" Amazing lyrics. Reminds me of when I was in collge and you would just go to parties and hookup. It was cool for two or three years but afterwards you realized you were just going to parties to get some and not to socialize and when you didn't get some you just went home feeling empty. Just think sometimes people want a let more than an akward sex and a bad hangover |
The Smiths – There Is a Light That Never Goes Out Lyrics | 17 years ago |
My comment if probably to far back to be read but basically I agree with Cereal when he said "The song just reminds me so much of the feelings when you want someone really badly and are trying to ask them out; feelings of confusion, pressure, nervousness, marvel at their beauty and a resulting feeling of inadequacy in comparison, fear of rejection, but then a sort of high, head spinning excitement, from the situation. Your feelings for them become hugely intense and seem to consume your thoughts. To be in a car with someone you felt like that for would be the sort of moment you’d think I could just die now (so is it literally meaning to die would be heavenly, as in the above paragraph, or just symbolic? I think it‘s both). You can imagine the nerves as you go to ask them out but can’t do it." That pretty much says it all |
John Mayer – Stop This Train Lyrics | 17 years ago |
If John's father actually said that then they both are geniuses |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Soma Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think y2doggy said all that needs to be said about this song when he said "Sounds like Billy's referring to someone who keeps going back to a lover who he knows will break his heart again and again. ("I'll betray myself"). The man can't help it...it's a vicious cycle for him. He can't stand being without her love...wants nothing less ("didn't want to be your friend"). It's another example of Billy's genius." To me that is word for word precisely what this song is about. |
Corinne Bailey Rae – Breathless Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this song is soo soulfu;. You got the meaning exactly beautyinwords |
John Mayer – The Heart of Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh and after listening to it 50 times I think it is supposed to be: "you know it's nothing new bad news never had good timing" I am am almost positive he says "bad" news. |
John Mayer – The Heart of Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is it me or is every song on this album amazing? How does he do it? |
John Mayer – Dreaming With A Broken Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Oh my God, Dorias said it all that needs to be said. All I can do is restate that this is the perfect song for if you are just getting out of relationship. Amazing song. |
The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Wait is Morrissey gay? |
Ride – Vapour Trail Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am like punkybun46, whenever I hear this song I think of Sam standing up in the back of a picktruck going through a tunnel as illustrated in The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I myself play it when I go through the tunnel that leads to the skyline of Chicago and when I do "I feel infinate" |
The Smiths – Asleep Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Hi, I want to be as orginal as possible and not repeat what anyone else said. I think the meaning of the song and the feelings it conveys are illustrated in a passage of said book: "I hope its's the kind of second side that he can listen to whenever he drives alone and feel like he belongs to something whenever he's sad. I hope it can be that for him." On a more personal note I also agree with Charlie when he says, "I hope the people who wrote those songs are happy. I hope they feel it's enough. I really do because they've made me happy." I feel that way about Morrissey and Billy Corgan every single time I hear their songs. |
Suzanne Vega – Gypsy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yes, this song is on Charlie's mixtape from the book "The Perks of Being A Wallflower". It it is beautiful like all the tracks on his mixtape. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – By Starlight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
DeathRockBoy said it best when he said "he imagines her to be this dark angel who maybe can't heal him but can at least they can share their sorrows together" Thats exactly what I thought. This is such a beautiful song. |
The Nails – 88 Lines About 44 Women Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Mary was a black girl and I was afraid of a girl like that" WTF?!! |
Gym Class Heroes – Decrepit Bricks Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Yea, I am a couple of miles away from them and their's nothing much to do but drink, do drugs, and walk around. Nothing but snow here anyway. |
Gym Class Heroes – On My Own Time (Write On!) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is so amazing. What is even better is the live version of it found here below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6G8jb_BStxA&mode=related&search= It will blow your mind! |
Gym Class Heroes – Cupid's Chokehold Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I agree with PoorMansSuperman49 this song is about some who is in love with the thought of being in love. Alot people get so wrapped up in finding that special person they feel like they have to be in some type of realationship and that by dong so they will be one step closser to true love. He convinces himself that his current "girlfriend" is different but she isn't, in fact she is not much of a girlfriend at all. The never seem to get alot is a reference to that fact that she does not have sex with him regularly enough, which might put a strain on the realationship from his end |
Pet Shop Boys – What Keeps Mankind Alive? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Amazing and its sooo true! |
Damien Rice – Grey Room Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I am pretty sure you went far far beyond any literal meaning Rastopop but I do find you theory interesting. I also think he is clinically depressed. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Tonight Reprise Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Flaws? Joeliphious if you knew the backgorund story I am sure you would hardly call the sound quality a flaw. The background information on this song is that it was recorded after Billy's coming back from the Chicago Bulls game, when they lost to the Orlando Magic in play-offs(1995). Billy sings in a hoarse voice due to his shouting on the match. It was recorded in just one take, with Billy using his famous Gibson acoustic guitar with rusty strings. I obtained it from The Aeroplane Flies High CD. This is a truely amazing song and I agree with jenna1027 and if I could I would have Billy play this at my funeral. "Believe, believe in me, believe That you can change, that you're not stuck in vain" "We'll make things right, we'll feel it all tonite The impossible is possible tonite" |
