Asstronaut is right on. this is completely a sexual metaphor song. And maybe im just crazy, but when i listen to it i hear a song about a prostitute that lets you do her in the a$$. Thats just, but give it a shot next time you listen. |

I dont know why people think this is a sad song. Its a very uplifting song if you really read the lyrics. Its about a woman who is past her prime and shes "falling apart" because of it but her only comfort is knowing her man still loves her completely. Hence "your love is a total eclipse of the heart" When she starts losing it "or falling apart" he tells her "turn around" and she knows if she does he'll make her feel better. Thats why she says "i really need you tonight, forevers gonna start tonight." This is a beautiful LOVE song |

though i could see how you could misinterpret this to be a heroin reference, your thinking way too hard. the song is clearly about a failed relationship in which the story teller tricks his ex-love into coming down to the river "be on my side, i'll be on your side, there is no reason for you to hide" after which he in fact "shot her dead" the song couldnt be any clearer. its the old "if i cant have you, nobody should" feeling you get when someone you love leaves you. and thats that.
