Marilyn Manson – Devour Lyrics 7 years ago
I can't stop wanting tohear Marilyn singing "I'll love you." He deserves the most sweet and beautiful girl in the world. He's that lovable. Screw the kids in high school that said he was a monster! They were the monsters.

This song is so hot I completely lost track of my mind upon first hearing it.

Mushroomhead – Mommy Lyrics 9 years ago
I read about the film Closet Land which the dialogue sample from the end is about. It's sung from the perspective of the woman in the film who may have been abused by her mother. It's a really sick & twisted film, but of course it's not like you'd expect Mushroomhead to enjoy Disney princess films.

Tool – Sober Lyrics 10 years ago
I remember relating to the line about "pointing every finger at me" when I was around ten and saw this video. No one drank in my house so I didn't understand what sober meant. Thinking about this again perhaps I related to it more from being addicted to dissociation to escape school. So being sober was like people telling you stop hiding from reality.

It's interesting how drinking is another form of dissociation for people, and how I managed to get this at such a young age. Maybe I just related to the claymation character's isolation. Also the idea of people asking them to trust you only to turn on you later, a lot of teachers did that to me.

I never considered that before, but maybe the tape was of him dressed in drag for a porno, and now he regrets having done it. Like a much, much, much milder verson of A Serbian Film.

Hole – Violet Lyrics 10 years ago
I really like your interpretation. I first heard Violet when I was in school, and felt it expressed my feelings of having been bullied, and never doing good enough according to my teachers. Not grades but I have Asperger's Syndrome, and they said I should be more social. I felt like, "Social with who? The students who buly me?" I can really relate to trying to protect myself from pain, by pretending I didn't care. It seemed everyone wanted everything from me, and I felt like Courtney when she yells take everything. Take my time, my sanity, my health just leave me the heck alone about how it's never going to be enough! Turns out I had depression, which I now take meds for. I thought maybe someone would be able to relate to my feelings about Violet, or that they'd feel less alone if they're facing the same problems I did.

MGMT – Kids Lyrics 13 years ago
I think you're right, because the song was played at the end of the documentary Tapped, which is about the impact people have on the environment when they use water bottles. I was watching the documentary, and found myself dancing to the song, and I don't dance lol. It was so funny!

http://www.r-word.org.

The word "retarded" is a form of HATE SPEECH. When you use it, you say okay to all forms of hate, and confirmto others that you take enjoyment from the pain of others. Sorry for being off-topic, but those who feel they have the right to prey on those weaker than them, deserve to be ridiculed. Only a monster would use such language, learn bettre vocabulary skills if you don't want to be seen as a monster.

t.A.T.u. – Clowns (Can You See Me Now?) Lyrics 14 years ago
I like your concept of the song. I had a similar idea, the idea being Yulia haunted by Lena. It was kind of like The Ring or the other J-Horror film pulse, where she keeps hearing Lena and then she shows up on Yulia's computer. Yulia keeps denying that she's hearing Lena, and it's like clowns are around her trying to force her to acknowledge her. I was thinking there'd have to be some sort of backstory, like Yulia harmed Lena in someway or maybe Yulia being obsessed with Lena to a point of visualizing her. So when Yulia would recognice Lena, Lena would come out of the computer screen or blind Yulia. It's a question if it's a matter of revenge, or Yulia having to recognize that this all was created by her mind and that she's insane.

I'll admit, this probably is a huge rip-off of J-Horror films, but eh whatever lol.

Tori Amos – Sleeps With Butterflies Lyrics 17 years ago
There is a mention at the end of the video for this song, that the visuals of the video were inspired by the artwork of Aya Kato. Here is a link to her website:

http://www.ayakato.net/

Itunes released a collection of Tori Amos videos, which include the video for Sleeps with Butterflies. I highly suggest you see it, then look at the website I mentioned. Both are very beautiful.

Tori Amos – Talula Lyrics 17 years ago
Talula could be a symbolic baby, or represent a inner child. Like the idea of going back to when you were young, and had no worries.

Like the line, "Say goodbye to a glitter girl". That point in life where you have to leave childhood and learn how to cope with life. The idea that you have someone you can go to who will help you return to the time when you could say, I really enjoyed the time I had spent with that person, and celebrate them.

Like the version of yourself, that was too busy playing with toys to think things over and over to death. Sometimes you need to get back in touch with that inner child, to keep your sanity. So it would seem that Talula is the name for Tori's inner child.

Nada Surf – Popular Lyrics 17 years ago
edgaga, sports are a great way to build social skills? By that do you mean, social skills that include placing yourself as someone who is better than someone else? Really good social skills, being vain and un-empathetic.

You mention Politicans and CEOs as people who have played sports and have succeded. I supposed it never crossed your mind, that those people succeed by using people to their advantage, and bossing others around. That doesn't take social skills, it takes being deluded into thinking the world spins around you. Usually it's the nice people who are told, they don't understand social skills. If understanding social skills means having to be mean, I don't care to understand.

Nada Surf – Popular Lyrics 17 years ago
Typical. Either you are the toadies of popular people, or you are popular people. Those of you offended by the comments here.

If someone doesn't like someone who's popular, they must be jelous? How self-absorbed is that? I guess it never came to mind, that you claiming people who dislike popular people are jelous, makes you the exact stereotype this song is making fun of.

The reality is most popular people are self-absorbed, and put others down to bring themselves up. Yes there are those who are popular by actually being good people, but these days that seems few and far in between. If you want to sympathize with someone, how about those who were bullied by those who were popular. It's at least more respectable, then acting like popular people are victims, when they usually are victimizers.

Why would someone be jelous, of people who are so insecure, they have to create a image of themselves. Anyone who tries to destroy that image, meets their rath, because their popular image is all they have. That's not something to admire, that's something to pity. It's pathetic.

I think 1-Sad-Sexually might have something. Maybe the line, I will rape your daughter on your grave, is supposed to be from the perspective of Kyo's father. Like Kyo is terrified that his father will come back to haunt and abuse his daughter.

Obscure, is basically your run of the mill horror film techniques and computer animation. Not that it wasn't done spectacularly, but it's like everyone has seen a dummy body with fake blood before.

The ripping the eye out thing is disturbing. *shivers* gah..reminded me of that horrible scene from Hostel. You know, the one where..and the guy has to cut her eye out...ehhh. Now that is disgusting.

It could be about Nazi Germany. It's more likely, if it's along those lines, that it's about Unit 731. It was a medical expermentation unit by the Imperial Japanese Army during WW2. Basically they did alot of horrible experimentation on people, alot like the Nazis did experiments on people.

Sadistic Macabre, there's a book by John Fowles called The Butterfly Collector. It's on the same track you were going on, about kidnapping someone to own them. It's a great book, I think you should read it. As well as anyone else who comes across this post.

Dir En Grey – Dead Tree (English) Lyrics 17 years ago
At first when I read the lyrics, and between the way the song sounds. I thought the idea was someone committing suicide. That they were tired of facing reality, and/or lost someone they loved. I figured that dead tree represented them killing themself in the winter, when the trees were bare like they were dead.

However, the music video seems to be about WW2 and the bombing of Hiroshima. So I think dead trees is in reference to, how the US validated killing or maiming people. Saying, they needed to kill an area of forest so they could see where people were. Like, what happened with Agent Orange. I think both versions work.

Dir En Grey – Obscure (English) Lyrics 17 years ago
I'm surprised that people think Kyo was abused in childhood, based on his lyrics. Usually if someone was abused, they don't want to be reminded of it. It seems the people who are the most balanced, are the ones who discuss darker issues. Perhaps because, they have a distant perspective of it.

I thought the video for this song, was the coolest video I have ever seen in my life. I mean, based on that video, the band could probaly make their own horror film if they wanted to. Although, in general Japanese culture tends to be more open minded about horror elements, then America does.

I'm thinking with the girl on the table cut into peices, and the girl wtih no arms. Perhaps that's a reflection on harming the child in the womb, along with the anti-abortion message. Like taking medicines you shouldn't when you're pregnant or drinking. Then you have higher chance of having either a mentally or physically disfigured child.

There certianly are alot of aspects to the video, that can be interpreted in many different ways. I wonder what the band's concept was for the different elements in the video.
