Opeth – The Baying of the Hounds Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Narcissist. Take a course in Theology then you can begin your life. |
Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"Currently there is no published reliable scientific evidence supporting this hypothesis and as such, it is merely a hypothesis." A hypothesis, I might add, formulated to discredit genuine near-death experience as evidence for an afterlife. |
Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Why do you criticize forced thought and then conclude with something as hypocritical as "YOUTUBE ZEITGEIST DO IT!!!!!!!!!" Forget the fact that Zetigeist is utter pretentious nonsense, but you are not helping the cause by being so two-faced. You fail to appreciate any true move toward independent rationality. |
Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 12 years ago |
New Age BS. |
Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"if you don't already know about it, it's produced naturally in your brain by your pineal gland (called your "third eye") during R.E.M. sleep and before death." I don't know what's worse: the fact that this isn't even close to being true, or the audacity and ignorance you exhibit in trying to pass it off as such, preying on weak minds such as your own. |
Muse – Uprising Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I hope you are feeling that uneasiness over your convictions right now. Do you see your inner contradiction? You are so blinded and conditioned by the secular powers that be, that not only do you so willingly elevate Christianity to something it is clearly not, but you accept other religions as if the world fit nicely into some black and white 'BramDr' system. |
Muse – Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"What I dread most is a maze that somebody promised me has candy at the center, but is instead a lion. I would rather die and stay that way than serve a tyrant in heaven." Your view of heaven is absurd and wholly undeveloped. Read a book. |
Death – The Philosopher Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Preists are not allowed to have wives or have sex, so therefore they dont know thier sexuality." Very poor argument. The relationship between having a wife or having sex and knowing one's sexuality is a terribly uninformed premise to base a claim on. "It is far more idiotic to ignore the possibility that the song is about religion than to wrongly consider it. Chuck said that he did not want to insert religious themes into his music so for that reason it should be counted out." You call ignoring religion idiotic, then you admit in the very next sentence that the songwriter excludes religion from his lyrics. Is there some kind of defect in your brain that prevents it from reasoning? "The ideas of Christianity are sounding pretty good, but the way they realize them is stupid." Gotta love all that supporting rationale and reason you provide. Such a general statement is worthless. "Blackened89: Man what's wrong with you? Everybody's trying to give a suggestion here to figure some way out and you just keep supporting Christianity." Let me correct that for you: Everybody's trying to give a suggestion here to figure some way out and you keep correcting their disgustingly biased, undeveloped and incorrect interpretations and references. Stop taking what I say in context and take it for what it is. If I tell you to stop calling apples "oranges" it doesn't mean I am defending oranges. Get it yet? You kids are such a laugh. The song is called "THE PHILOSOPHER"...hmmm...ya know what...maybe the lyrics are about, a PHILOSOPHER? Slight chance maybe? Perhaps if you took a class in modern philosophy you would understand what Chuck was saying. Until then, stop wasting cyberspace...let alone with garbage spewed from your own personal feelings and presuppositions about religion. You're ruining the genre....or what's left of it. |
Dream Theater – Panic Attack Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Panic disorder can be dissolved with (rather simple) changes in though process. It's your brain, you do have control over it, you know. |
The Haunted – Godpuppet Lyrics | 15 years ago |
What a surprise. Another anti-religion song by a metal band??? And yet you all claim metal bands aren't trendy? "It basically not only describes why Christianity is so stupid" Contrary to your belief, this is not yet established as fact. Billions of people would agree with me. Get over it. |
TestAmenT – Demonic Refusal Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Judging by the name, though, I'd say it's about demonic possession." Judging by the name, though, I'd say it's about demonic refusal. Dumbass. |
Superjoint Ritual – Creepy Crawl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Another riveting sermon from Rev. Philip Anselmo, heroin extraordinaire. |
Superjoint Ritual – Antifaith Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Yes. It is about the stupidity of religion....you know, that thing that would help you not do heroin or not have chronic back pain or not have one of your ex-bandmembers get shot a half dozen times on stage in front of hundreds of people. Man, gotta love those bandwagon religion haters. Good thing they’re only on the internet. No one puts up with their BS in the real world. |
Roadrunner United – Annihilation by the hands of God Lyrics | 15 years ago |
pathetic. gotta love Heavy Metal Theology LOL |
Death – Spiritual Healing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Do you always personify inanimate objects? it's like telling you that since your parents didn't give you enough attention while you were being raised, that the idea of "attention" is at fault for making you what you are today (i.e. a secularized, uniformed, pretentious minion who has fallen victim to Internet Theology and the Youtube generation, gaining the majority of his/her knowledge from Wikipedia.) |
Sepultura – Amen Lyrics | 15 years ago |
" agree... that's just what religion does." Let's personify an inanimate object now. Gotta love Internet Theology. LOL |
Death – Spiritual Healing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"this song also makes clear that religion is hypocritical since it preaches that no one should kill, yet religion itself is the cause for most of the wars that plague our world. what a moron. you say this like it's some kind of fact just waiting to be spoken. get a clue, its not the only viewpoint in the world. Too bad the lead singer of this band couldn't save himself from his brain tumor, eh? kinda sucks that bad things happen to bad people. |
Sepultura – Mass Hypnosis Lyrics | 15 years ago |
personally I think that a heavy metal singer knows very little about life and reality. |
A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Everyone’s a theologian nowadays. LOL what a joke. Sorry, I don't need some quasi-bicurious atheist telling me what or how to believe. Secular net, going strong. Later kiddies. |
Living Sacrifice – Ignite Lyrics | 15 years ago |
every time I hear this song I imagine the atheist, lying on his deathbed praying to God out of sheer terror and desperation. it makes me laugh. |
Lamb of God – Blacken The Cursed Sun Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Better to die quick fighting on your feet Then to live forever begging on your knees No." Good thing he says "no," huh? |
Lamb of God – Blacken The Cursed Sun Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Lamb of God = 5 Christian guys trying their hardest to seem anti-Christian, while not really being anti-Christian. Piss poor, but still more commendable than the rest of heavy metal. |
Devin Townsend – Bastard Lyrics | 15 years ago |
could be about losing a relative, not necessarily about death in general. |
Stone Temple Pilots – Naked Sunday Lyrics | 15 years ago |
And one more thing, I wouldnt expect more from Scott Weiland. Just remember that you share a worldview with a strung out heroin addict waiting to die (into nothing, of course). Gone. |
Stone Temple Pilots – Naked Sunday Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Ad Nauseam terribly misinterpreted Trail of the Madman's post. Just blinded by his/her presuppositions. Religion is not part of the problem, man is...that's right, your precious humankind is to blame. Stop blaming religion because mommy forced it down your little throat and now you hold an adolescent grudge. Get over it kid. Wake up, get into the real world....the haven of anti-religion known as the internet is warping your mind. Later, fools. |
TestAmenT – Low Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"This song MIGHT be about the Catholic Child Molester Underground...like, the "just leave the kids alone," and "lost hope with faith to the cross" are little things which could be taken as messages to those sickos, but then again that's just my opinion. " Yea, cause we all know the sex abuse scandal was back in 1994, right? Moron. Stop being blinded by your metal trendiness. You little metal babies follow bands who preach against trends and then make their own. Anti-religious themes are getting old, get over it. |
System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
OwnPersonalDemon, who the fuck is pushing their religion on you? stop being delusional. |
System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 16 years ago |
losers who say this song is about religion being bad are brainwashed losers. if it actually is about that, then System of a Down are brainwashed losers as well. just stating the obvious here people. I dont see why their lyrics have to be so ambigous...it must be the lyricists own insecurities. |
Machine Head – Halo Lyrics | 16 years ago |
this song reflects the typical anti-Christian metal trend. metal is trendier than you all think. "Taking an anti Christian stance has always been popular in metal (except Dave Mustaine)" true, but Dave Mustaine is not the only exception. Christian metal is a valid genre, but hardly comparable to traditional metal. It would be nice to see Christian metal enter the metal mainstream...something the typical metalhead would not like to see. they are set on their angst-ridden, hateful form of the mainstream (as most social mainstreams are) this song is a response to the typical American and antireligious and irreligious delusion. many find themselves logically idealizing a perceived offense from Christianity, something along the lines of "they shove it down our throats," or "they control everything." this is usually the result of some deeply rooted psychological void within the ego of the individual (no, not just some "his father didnt hug him enough when he was a child"). many studies have been done. it is amazing to discover how screwed up people can make themselves. "98% of religion I a load of shit its a form of control and making money, so to me this isn't an attack on God but is on religion, God doesn’t stand for money God is there to be followed when you want if you want. " more like 1/98%. if you ever discussed religion with someone who knows what theyre talking about (or say, take a class in theology...something i suggest heavily), you'd realize that your shallow, man-made, media-fronted statistic has no basis in reality, just like the entire ideology of this song. you continue to allow your personal, emotional doubt take control of your life. musicians should stick with playing music. when uneducated, uninformed, or misinformed individuals start trying to indoctrinate innocent kids sitting in their bedroom, trouble is usually the outcome. they are commiting the very act they speak against...the true hypocrites. |
Death – The Philosopher Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yea Foop, you got it all figured out right? cause we all know priests are philosophers....moron. when all else fails, religion! you blind idiot. |
Death – Crystal Mountain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Rest in Hell.......not likely |
Death – Crystal Mountain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
hahah what a loser...actually converted to Christianity after writing lyrics like this? I sure hope they're not about religion. even if they are, what would someone who's not Christian know about Christianity? Well, there's always the news...HA! Keep listening to the secular media tell you about a few priests, and how they "ruin" the entire religion. Just ignore the fact that they fail to inform you of the 5x as many school teachers who are just as sick. Morons. The Church doesn't give two shits about the "flaws" you think it has. I think hundreds of scholars who dismiss these "flaws" are more reliable than some internet atheist who claims they're true. How could they be "afraid" of them when there's a whole branch of theology devoted to accepting them for discussion? You little pukes need to take a course or two in theology to wipe your mind clean of the garbage that it has been feasting on. The first two comments and one other show that you are truly brainwashed, and know very little about Christian dogma. How can religion centered on SUFFERING be a "CRUTCH" for anything? Logic, morons. No one forces you to give the Church money. Then again, how would you be able to know that without ever having gone there. Maybe Mr. Schuldiner's ignorance was so great that it caused a tumor in his brain. Just a thought. Makes more sense than his worldview. Or maybe he WAS gay...thats another big reason for hating the Church.....I'm sure many of you can relate. |
Fear Factory – Resurrection Lyrics | 16 years ago |
possibly because he is speaking of the resurrection of man, over both the machines and (what burton feels to be) the insufficiency of religion....i know....kinda pathetic. eh what are ya gonna do....sad that the anti-religion trend in metal has to ruin so many great songs. ill just continue downloading 100% of my music. |
Fear Factory – Pisschrist Lyrics | 16 years ago |
JudasPries1977 hit it right on the head. This lame anti-religion trend is ruining the genre of metal. And to Bodyhammer, the sad thing is, many people (including myself) are fans and take great offense when these bands make it their duty to slander religion. It is very disheartening, and just plain sad to have to abandon enjoyable music (and such great, beautiful music in the case of this song) just because some guy decides to shove his anti-religious agenda down the listeners throat. Nowadays, the only good metal is instrumental. Metal is supposed to be so against the grain, against the trends....little does everyone know that it's a trend bigger than any. |
Nevermore – Medicated Nation Lyrics | 16 years ago |
a nevermore song bashing religion???? naaaaaaaah. trendy metal losers. |
Chimaira – Power Trip Lyrics | 16 years ago |
probably just another anti-racism song...pretty big trend in metal. lame. 6 tough guys from cleveland. |
Lamb of God – Walk with Me in Hell Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i see the lyrics as a direct attempt by the band to line their pockets with the money all you teenagers spend to buy this CD and think that this song is "so cool dood!" this is why lamb of god exists. wake up kiddies. metal is more of a trend then you will ever know. kemhor, do your family a favor and pull that damn trigger already. |
Living Sacrifice – Bloodwork Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Proto, "and upon this rock I will build my CHURCH." gotta step back and take a look at where you're going buddy. |
Hatebreed – Empty Promises Lyrics | 16 years ago |
lame song, lame band, lame lyrics. cliche is right...brainwashed metal stereotype at its best. you are all in the dark. try and prove me otherwise. |
Nevermore – The River Dragon Has Come Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Glad it's obvious to you. Kinda like that magical explosion that created everything down to the air you breath? The "Big Bang," or something? |
Nevermore – The Seven Tongues of God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Glad I got to all you minions. Sorry my words are too complex for your minds. Basically, Dane is just another trend-following atheist zealot. Don't take your confused teen ansgt out on me because you can't understand that Dane is more vocal than 10 preachers combined. You are brainwashed, and delusional, along with MANY others....thanks to the likes of Dane. |
Nevermore – Born Lyrics | 17 years ago |
hello sinten! ever heard of free speech? deal with it. I'm just glad you are upholding your atheist status by telling others not to display their beliefs while you go and do the very same thing. Einstein said what he said. There's books out there, which you have never read, and never will. Being an atheist means your life has absolutely no meaning, no matter what is claimed. Helping others is done completely in vain, life is hopeless, suicide is necessary, but never carried out due to fear. Your pal Nietzsche said so himself.....are you too afraid to accept your entire doctrine? |
Nevermore – This Godless Endeavor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
and it's not that you dont NEED to write a reply. its that you CAN'T. nothing like displaying your laughable intelligence through submission. |
Nevermore – This Godless Endeavor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
that was the intent. thanks. |
Nevermore – The Seven Tongues of God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
pretty easy to state someone elses beliefs lack "definition and form." what if someone else thought the same way towards his? well, if someone did, you wouldn't hear about it on a metal album, a genre that has become so anti-religion, anti-God. pretty sad that a type of music has to blindly follow a certain trend. at least there's a few free minds out there, unlike Dane's, among others. it's just a shame that one man could get so much power as to brainwash millions of youth into whatever he believes. this is metal. this is pathetic. this is a bastardization of the human mind. if one is so concerned about people thinking freely for themselves, why would they force their ideals upon others so hypocritically?? like Dane says, "I have not seen god, you have not seen god." if nobody knows what the right choice is, why try and shove your specific choice into the minds of listeners?? aren't they supposed to look within by themselves? plus, if those of religion are wrong for thinking they're right, what makes you so special that you aren't wrong? it's not to "furthur complicate," it's to contradict. people think religion is right, as much as, and even more than people who think it's wrong. you don't see them forming a band and selling music albums that not only proclaim their point of view, but also bash the opposition. sure, one could avoid listening to the stuff they find offensive...an absolutely pathetic and unnecessary consequence. not like theres alot of other options anyway, let alone good ones. besides, if one likes the music they shouldn't be subject to unneccesary persecution. this trend in metal of anti-religion/anti-God and the hypocrisy that goes along with it has ruined the genre. but obviously not for the majority of metal fans today (who embrace it--we do live in a post-modern, increasingly secularized world of bullshit and unethical logic, which is the main cause of this trend). metal has always been dark, but not in arguementive way. at least in the old days, some bands still sang about the occult and all that satan shit, but they did it neutrally, without shoving it down the listeners throat. they didn't try to ridicule others' beliefs (let alone not be hypocritical about it). anyone could like metal back then. it was a show, entertainment, as music should be. now you have to want to hear someone preaching to you while trying to listen to a good riff. if someone wants to listen to philosophical viewpoints on theology, spirituality, politics or society they could go to the library and read a book, instead of having to be at the mercy of opposing arguments just for listening to music. Religion governs the world??? Hardly. I don't get you secular humanists. All these claims of religion dominating the world, being shoved down your throats, preached to you all the time. Well, how about trying this: DON'T GO TO CHURCH. It's a little easier than giving up your favorite CDs. |
Nevermore – The River Dragon Has Come Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"i think this song has some kind of religious context" this is Nevermore, what else is new. Dane feels that all of those who belong to religion automatically do not think for themselves, nor avoid pushing their beliefs on others. Also, he obviously finds nothing wrong with talking about how religion persecutes others for having different beliefs, while the whole time he is persecuting religion. where is this tolerance and inner-satisfaction, this understanding he so desperately yearns for? |
Nevermore – I Am The Dog Lyrics | 17 years ago |
atheist and anti-religion can mean two different things. people can believe in God without religion. they're called Deists. |
Nevermore – My Acid Words Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Dane speaks as if his claim that the world will end because of mankind is original. how the hell else would it end??? its freaking obvious. |
Nevermore – Narcosynthesis Lyrics | 17 years ago |
how does "crucify your ideals" mean to "force them on others"? this is a blind assumption, as is the statement that the church has to be "punished" for their hypocritical ways. they have no presence in the lyrics. |
Nevermore – The Seven Tongues of God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Which is much the theme of this song... that religion governs the world and thus the world is an illogical and evil place." If this was the theme of the song, why would he add a quote that explains how religion brings social order? |
