Dream Theater – Disappear Lyrics
|
It ain't about divorce or a breakup of any kind. It's certainly about the death of a loved one. Lines that point to it: "I'll meet you in the end", as in, in death. "I'll never forget as you lay there and watched me, accepting the end." Lying on her death bed. Simple. Not such a simple song emotionally however. This is by far one of the most emotional songs ever produced by anyone. I don't look forward to the day I can actually relate completely to its meaning. |

SikTh – Peep Show Lyrics

Certainly there are also religious allusions in this song, what with the inclusion of the words "crusade", "preaching", "glorifying". Pretty obvious what it's saying. Long live Sikth...oh that's right, they broke up. Sad times. |

COG – How Long? Lyrics

I disagree with Keogh. The song's about being stuck in a rut (depression, hopelessness, dismay, disgust, disenchantment with the world in general) and wondering just how long it will be till you feel differently, or until, perhaps, the world itself will change so that you may follow suit. |

Lyrics I'm not sure about "set in lies", "round-down". Help wanted. |

COG – Real Life Lyrics

This song has the same meaning as all of Cog's songs lol. They're all about the pointless nature of daily life. This song in particular is addressing what is more 'real' - the daily mockery of life that we each live out, or seeing outside that, transcending, to a REAL life without preconception. |

Puscifer – Momma Sed Lyrics

"Life will pound away where the light don't shine, son."
Certainly a metaphor for life kicking you constantly in the nuts. But "this pain will pass away." Great song, sits well as the first serious song in the album's tracklist. |

Porcupine Tree – Fear of a Blank Planet Lyrics

The inspiration for this song (and the rest of the album), as Steve Wilson has said in interviews, was the Bret Easton Ellis novel "Lunar Park", and this song specifically is from the perspective of the 10 year-old son of the (fictional) Ellis character in the novel. |

Porcupine Tree – Sleep Together Lyrics

I think it says "Burn my Prada trainers"...as in pants? No idea about the word after "do or drown in". This is a great song to end the album, anyway. Very groovy rhythms. |

Gotta love the sample at the start. What an epic song. So many musical ideas ...epic is the only word for it. |

Frost – Snowman Lyrics

It's a real pity this band isn't more well-known. Phenomenal song-writing on every track on this album, Milliontown, Snowman being just one fine example of it. |

Blackfield – End of the World Lyrics

"Tell the angels we're here" - not "till the end you're still here". Great, great, morbid song. Reflects exactly my view of the way things are. |

Filter – Welcome To The Fold Lyrics
|
Apparently, this song is lashing out against a girl who attempted to sue Richard Patrick for hitting her in the head with a water bottle at a Filter concert after he threw it into the crowd from the stage - hence, "You take my money, you think you're great . . . But nothing will ever destroy your greed." |

Filter – The Missing Lyrics
|
"What now? The cross has been greased" - Greased, as in, prepared (like a tray for cooking), for Jesus' sacrifice (a la roasting). Basically this line seems to be saying that even though Jesus supposedly sacrificed himself for the greater good of humanity...Richard Patrick does not seem that greater good manifesting itself in the current situation of the world, especially post 9/11. Hence, God must "love to be cruel." |
