Two things formed my view point as to the meaning: A. The music video for this song, which depicts a trashed character who suffers from vice. B. Tom's personal battle with alcoholism. Personally, this song to me is about vice. "Bedshaped" and "legs of stone" refer to the effects of vice, and the "white light" refers to the promises that vice make. The "What do I know" and "I know" take on new meaning if you consider that Tom knows vice and what it is to battle it. |
