Having lived in Bellingham my whole life I very much enjoy this song, but it sounds more like it was written about Fairhaven, which is sort of a suburb of Bellingham, but used to be its own seperate town. It's based around the bay, it's where the train station is, and it looks a lot older and pleasant than the central part of Bellingham. Oh and we definitely don't have a majestic dock.

"tv stained my memories" is such a brilliant line. it's true though, so much of my memory is wasted on remembering the stupid plot lines of sitcoms and we relate so much of what happens to us to things that we've seen on television

really? i always though the meanings was pretty straitght forward: the young narrator shoots and kills another man. confesses to his mother and at first tries to escape but is caught. then comes the scene where he's in court and him and his attorney argue for pity while the prosecution against it. he is then convicted and receives the death penalty.
