The Beatles – Baby You're a Rich Man Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
IIRC, taking from a few different books and magazines, the "rich fag jew" part was something Lennon tossed in during a take. This was something Lennon, who was a wordplay fiend, loved to do. For a more innocent example, listen to the version of No Reply on Anthology 1 where John replaces the last word of every line with "your face." Epstein was rich, gay, and Jewish. So Lennon threw that in a couple times, only half seriously. There was, AFAIK, no attempt to make it a subliminal thing. It was just a joke on a throwaway take. |

Eminem – Fack Lyrics
|
TRANSLATION from xxx_stacy_xxx:
By the way, addressing the previous poster who identified himself as "br3w3d," it is my esteemed opinion that you are an ignoramus who talks big in order to hide their ignorance. Who do you think you are, what gives you the right to say things like that about someone else? So, as the Bible says, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." I say these things about you because I identify myself as a strong, independent woman who cuts others down in order to feel better about myself. I question your mental capabilities. I think many of your issues could be solved or at least alleviated if you were to actually partake in sexual intercourse, which I am assuming you've never done. I have done extensive research into the matter and I have decided that you didn't like this song is because you are a loser, and you need to learn to face that reality. On second thought, I didn't say that, and I am going to hurl hateful epithets towards you instead. Back on the original topic, I believe the artist who performed the song entitled "Fack" is a genius, and I would appreciate it if people who didn't agree with me would learn to deal with it themselves. In case your powers of perception are lacking, which would likely indicate some serious problem, let me break it down for you: You should feel free to write a follow-up comment to this where you insult me, but I won't care because, as stated before, I am a strong, independent woman who cuts others down in order to feel better about myself. |

just because a song was written while on drugs or influenced in some way by drugs (whether this song was or not is a matter of contention), does NOT make it a SONG ABOUT DRUGS. |

honestly, I've never heard John's voice anywhere near that low. It seemed like it was a 45 played at 33 speed or something, but even at that, it sounded like Michael Clarke Duncan |

Valient Thorr – Fall of Pangea Lyrics
|
It's (iirc) a "factual retelling of the Venusian Valient Thorr and his visit to our theb fledgeling planet. Also it's a social commentary on humans as nothing more than a temporary nuisance that will be gone before too long, allowing the Earth to reach stasis once more.
Best part of this song is it never let's you get too comfortable with one sound before completely changing it up. |

Aerosmith – Uncle Salty Lyrics
|
"Left her to be trusted till the orphan bleeds" likely means that Salty (her brother most likely) was entrusted with raising her until she was old enough to look after herself. Think of a girl reaching menarche as now being a woman, and therefore old enough to do what she wants. "Cunning" definitely would be a play on "cunny," meaning that sex is the only thing that brings men to her, and by connection the only way she is able to feel wanted or loved. I think it's very likely that the song is supposed to be sung from the perspective of the girl's child, who is asking his Uncle Salty (his mother's brother) what happened to his mother. The "sunny day outside my window" refers to the fact that even though there's a beautiful world out there, he feels trapped behind glass, unable to properly enjoy life, only able to watch others enjoy it. |

Disco indeed does suck. It was the lowest point of music in the 20th century to date, although it's been passed up by gangsta rap, party rap, and several other forms of rap. However, this particular song does NOT suck. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's a much better song than it should be, all things considered. |

Pink Floyd – Us and Them Lyrics
|
It's not about WAR so much as it is about the tendency of humans to fight with each other. Not just on the battlefield, but in every day situations. If you listen to the Roger the Hat interview, WAters discusses a bit of them meaning behind Us and Them: that we are constantly fighting each other and seperating ourselves into an "us vs. them" mentality. The point is that we unneccessarily divide ourselves based on every little thing, concentrate on our differences, and forget to think about all the ways we're all in this thing together.
So, yes, on a small scale, it's about war, but it's more about human nature in general. Not just the political idea of one country against another, but the very simple idea of one human against another. |

Pink Floyd – Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk Lyrics

BleedingHeartArtist strikes me as the kind of Floyd fan who thinks The Final Cut was Waters' greatest of achievements, meaning we can safely disregard everything he says as being wrong. TUTSaW is a FANTASTIC song, and so is Pow R. Toc H. Anyone who says differently clearly does not understand British psychedelia. Probably the same people who inexplicably can't understand the humo(u)r of Monty Python. |

Approximately 50 minutes. However, it's not a "song" as much as it is the score the a film. It can be found on the bootleg "A Tree Full Of Secrets," where the compiler explains that he simply snipped the parts of the movie that had Floyd music in them. |

Oh, yeah, Waters' presence is what makes an album great. Just look at the piece of shit the was "The Final Cut," a Waters solo album disguised as a Floyd album. Waters became a whiny little emo bitch, and it was a wonderful thing when the Floyd moved on without him. |

I just have trouble with this song. It's like, the whole song is this guy complaining that too many women are attracted to him. Well, sorry if I don't shed a tear. It's equivalent to someone singing a song "Woe is me, I've got so much money, and I don't know what to do with it" |

this song has always hit close to home for me. Not because I feel I'm a lose, but because of the following couplet:

The chromatic opening of this song leading up to the beautifully tight harmonies of the rest of the song makes this one of the best from the Beatles' early years. For me, the harmonies on this song can only be approached, let alone matched, by "Two of Us" |

ugh, I don't even fucking wanna TALK about what this song means to me. Of course, it wasn't so much that all my friends turned on me. It's that when things out of our control changed and we were no longer seeing each other every day, suddenly, I wasn't important to them anymore. I'd call, I'd write, and try to get together, and all of them more or less just were like "I'm too busy." That's all I wanna say about that. |
