Skold – Chaos Lyrics 14 years ago
I always thought the beginning went "leave me in the blazing sun to die.... You're the only one I found, so I'll just steal back my soul. It just won't heal." I always thought that sounded cooler. Like he was on a journey for revenge after being left for dead. I'm gonna keep thinking of it that way.

Ludo – Part II: Tonight's The Night Lyrics 14 years ago
@Laito: I heard one of my friends say they thought he wasn't trying to save the people in Lamb and the Dragon, but that it happened on accident.

The line "I've got Dragons of my own" I think can be interpreted to mean either "My time machine is as powerful as a dragon" (which is really badass) and in that case it would mean he is planning to destroy the dragon OR it could be seen as the Traveler getting ready to leave, saying "I've got my own problems to deal with," in which case he would not be trying to save the people and the portal killed or transported the dragon somewhere instead of transporting him.

Panic! at the Disco – This Is Halloween Lyrics 16 years ago
This version pwns the Manson version any day. I am a huge fan of Nightmare before christmas, and to me the whole horror thing is NOT the important thing to take away from the movie. So Marilyn Manson did his horror thing to a T, but the Panic! cover is just so much bigger and different and wonderful. Of course, I have a supreme dislike for Marilyn Manson and his style of music, so that might be interfering a little. lol

I also must say I vastly prefer this song to Fall out Boy's cover of What's This

Breaking Benjamin – Blow Me Away Lyrics 16 years ago
I don't know if this was said before but I think the line "I will stay unless I'm made" might just be saying Master Chief will stay and fight unless he's made (to leave). I say this because a couple lines previous it says "it's time to run" but MC doesn't run. lol.

Such a kick ass song.

The Decemberists – The Perfect Crime #2 Lyrics 16 years ago
lol at 99centmenu. So do you believe that only record producers or people in bands should have opinions about music? Because last time I checked, the most important people to any band are their fans. If the opinion of fans doesn't matter then what is the point of releasing the music on CD? The band might as well just sit at home and play the song to themselves.

I personally did not like the song. It just didn't weave the kind of story the other songs did, and the music style is very different. Maybe some people like it, I personally don't. Maybe you think it's catchy but I find it annoying. I don't like when the majority of the song is one word or phrase repeated over and over again. Anyone who belittles someone else's opinion, you are the elitists. And for the record, not liking something because of the way it sounds does not mean you are not open-minded. I just recently starting listening to Decemberists, and I gave this song just as much chance as the others, I just didn't like it. And I can indeed resist tapping my foot.

Weezer – The Other Way Lyrics 16 years ago
This is my favorite on Make Believe. Probably my favorite Weezer song. I never took it as someone shy who was unable to say they like someone, to me this song reminds me how I would always screw things up in relationships even though I had the best intentions. It's my bitter song that I listen to in order to remind myself

Blue October – Sweet And Somber Pigeon Wings Lyrics 16 years ago
He doesn't have a stepmom. I'm 90% sure of that. My ex-girlfriend has a big family that's very tightknit, and sometimes when someone new comes into this kind of family, they cause drama. This one woman tried to basically "take over" the family and become more popular, like she was ascending in royalty or getting more popular in high school or something. And she disrupted the entire family. This could be what he means, that this woman is crushing the family that he is close to but also feels estranged from (as aron pointed out). I just get the feeling that he is immersed in this family environment, and the line "its beyond my time" makes me think that all the workings of the family go beyond him and his age, like they are too old or complex for him to grasp or for him to really affect. That's kind of how it is in a big family. I really love this song. I think it captures the feeling wonderfully.

And I agree that this CD is amazing, personally "for my brother" or "the 21st would be my favorite(s) on the cd, but this one is up there. I also love the live versions. I like live "Blue Sunshine" better than the album version. Blue October should really try to get this album in stores for easier access for fans. Sometimes people don't get things unless they're right there and they think "what the hell, why not"

Maybe when they get more popular...

The All-American Rejects – Straitjacket Feeling Lyrics 17 years ago
Hey, why does the grammer have to be correct? I listened to this song very closely on headphones, and it is DEFINITELY "yesterday WAS over..." The lyrics are correct. He's saying yesterday WAS....but this is today and I'm moving on. I have to admit I absolutely love this song. Best all-american rejects song ever. The violin (i guess it's violin) makes it so sad/inspirational/hopeful at the same time, which perfectly captures the mood, and which is really how you feel when you're trying to survive a rough breakup. The words are so perfect, and I think a lot of ppl can relate to it when they are going through bad breakups, like you want to go back, just thinking of them hurts (that face is tearing holes in me again) but you have to let go because once you move on (the memory slips away) things are much better (there'll be a better view from here).

I especially like the line "I'm holding on by letting go of you." And it's true.

My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics 17 years ago
sorry McVicky, but I don't see the patient as the same as the cancer patient. The patient (main character) dies of heart problems from a....let's say...hectic lifestyle. ("If your life won't wait, then your heart can't take this...During this operation [I] found a complication in your heart. So long. Cuz now you've got maybe just 2 weeks to live...")-Dead!

I don't see any evidence that THE patient is the cancer patient.

My Chemical Romance – Famous Last Words Lyrics 17 years ago
This is the conclusion.
"I know I can't make you stay, (his lover)
"but where's your heart?
and I know there's nothing I can say
to change that part.

(he can't change the way he's treated her, but he is hoping she would still take him back...)

"So many bright lights that cast a shadow,
but can I speak?"

(he sees everything so much brighter now...he is so awed that he is at a loss for words.)

"Is it hard understanding I'm incomplete?
A life that's so demanding I get weak"

(He's saying he's sorry for being weak, giving into his unhappiness and taking it out on her. He realizes that he's incomplete, and he wants to make it up to everyone: his father, his lover, himself...)

"All their souls are burning"

(i imagine all the members of the black parade burning in bright white light, he is seeing the beauty of it.)

"Can you see? My eyes are shining bright. I'm here on the other side of the jet black hotel mirror..."

(I see the patient's lover looking into a mirror, splashing water on her face, and he is on the other side of it, on the "other side" still with the Black Parade. He's looking at her, appreciating her for the first time, and he's saying "can't you see my eyes shining bright?" and he's happy. He's maveling at all the beautiful light.)

"I AM NOT AFRAID TO KEEP ON LIVING.
I AM NOT AFRAID TO WALK THIS WORLD ALONE.
Honey, if you stay I'll be forgiving....(or is it really forgiven?)
Nothing you can say can stop me going home..."

(He is ready to live his life. He is no longer afraid to die, afraid of what others think about him, no longer resentful of his lover. He is appreciating life.)

"These brights lights are glowing bright as me."

(His soul is shining bright, eminating from him and making him happy, blending with the lights all around him until everything is brilliant white light...)

"I see you lying next to me
With words I thought I’d never speak
Awake and unfraid
Asleep or dead.."

(all of a sudden, he sees her lying in bed next to him. He doesn't know if he was really dead or asleep. But he doesn't lose his chance, and wakes her up and speaks words he thought he never would. He tells her he's sorry and that he loves her.)

The chorus is repeated at the end to show that he has been given a second lease on life. He is going to appreciate it this time around. It is also there for the fans. They are telling us to live every day as if it were our last. That has always been their message for us, and here it is in song. It brings tears to my eyes. It really does make me want to appreciate everything I have.

My Chemical Romance – Mama Lyrics 17 years ago
rainbow gryphon, I agree. That's how i see this song. The Black Parade shows him this war, and these individuals. The first one tells his mother he is gonna go to hell for killing all these people. Then another one is crying about how he's gonna die. The third one is saying they are liars. The fourth one is blaming himself, saying she should've raised a baby girl, at least a baby girl wouldn't go killing people. While he's singing, you hear a crazy, Beulzebub-sounding devil voice sing with him. He is having to have his leg amputated. The last one reinforces the image that they are going to hell, and he speaks as if he's already there "it's really quite pleasant, except for the smell."
During the chorus, they all cry out together, every single soldier on the battlefield, for the sorrow and the pity of what they are doing to each other.
Then the mother disowns her son for all the bad things he's done. "And just you mind your manners when you go." Then a man speaks to his lover. Her voice is full of sorrow, and the man says that he's done terrible things...and then all the dead men raise up and say "
we're dead after all....
raise up your glasses for tomorrow we die!"

This song is very big and dramatic, it is really like a musical number.

I just imagine the patient seeing all these sad boys writing home to their mothers and their lovers, crying, saying they're going to die soon, and they don't want to. Thhey're going to hell for killing these other boys. Then he sees the big picture, and everyone is singing, in a line with each other, saying they are all brothers in arms, and tomorrow they die. it's showing that they are trapped; no way out. They have to kill each other and they have to die. It's a miserable life, and the patient should be grateful he isn't here, dying on this god-forsaken battlefield. The scope is this song is just huge. I love it.

My Chemical Romance – Disenchanted Lyrics 17 years ago
thanks ____go__away.

I think this entire song is from the point of view of the patient's father. the journey is reaching it's end, but the patient is still arguing with his father, who did all of this to show his son that life is so precious and that his life means something. "If I'm so wrong, how can you listen all night long? You never learned a goddamned thing." i think it's pretty obvious: after all this, the patient still doesn't understand.

I think the beginning verses are the father recounting his own life.

"Well I was there on the day
They sold the cause for the queen
And when the lights all went out
We watched our lives on the screen
I hate the ending myself
But it started with an alright scene

It was the roar of the crowd
that gave me heartache to sing
It was a lie when they smiled
and said "you won't feel a thing"
And as we ran from the cops
we laughed so hard it would sting"

I think "we watched our lives on the screen" means EVERYONE in the black parade, not just the father. It might be saying that all the lives they've been showing the patient this whole time were their lives.

The father is telling his son that he's disappointed in him
"You're just a sad song with nothing to say about a lifelong wait for a hospital stay. If I'm so wrong this never meant nothing to you." He's saying that the patient is still lost in self-loathing, woe-is-me bullshit. Like: I took you on this whole journey to teach you, and you still haven't learned anything son...

"Bring out the old guillotene" I think they bring out a guillotene, like: I didn't want to do this, son, but you leave me no other choice...
"Where did you run to? Where did you hide? Go find another way..."
The patient runs away, he is now feeling totally frantic and helpless: he's disappointed his dad, he realizes what an asshole, his father says "go find another way," which I think is mocking what the patient said in "don't love you anymore", like: Yeah, go find another way! that's ALL you'll ever do! Maybe you should stop trying to find another way and try to FIX things! STOP RUNNING FROM YOUR PROBLEMS!!"

I think this is where the patient finally realizes that he's been running this whole time, and he can live with his own life and actually appreciate it. The song doesn't sound like that, but I think so because in the last song, he is finally grateful for his life, and I think this is where he learns it.

My Chemical Romance – Teenagers Lyrics 17 years ago
This is another song that isn't necessarily to tie into the story, but to touch on an issue. I think this song is edgier and more controversial than Cancer, because it talks about school shootings unapologetically. "If you're troubled and hurt, what you got under your shirt will make them pay for the things that they did!" it's not saying its bad or good, its just giving the way the kids who do it think.

To tie into the story, maybe the patient is recalling his teenage years, and the Black Parade shows him the lives of many other teenagers: scared, alone, picked on just like he was. It could show him empathy for others, show him that yes, his life was rough, but so is everyone else's. I see this as the Black Parade tellin him "So you've suffered...WE HAVE TOO. Suck it up and get over it. There's more to life."

My Chemical Romance – Cancer Lyrics 17 years ago
My grandma is dying of cancer.

That's why they wrote this song. The way it ties into the story is that the Black Parade takes the patient, who has a heart condition, to see someone who's really suffering. It makes him realize that his life isn't as bad as he thought, he could be suffering like this person.

I just love the song because I can just listen to it and I can cry. I can sympathize. That's what MCR intended, and that's why it's so good.

My Chemical Romance – House Of Wolves Lyrics 17 years ago
yea prayingmantis is right. Kick me like a stray ties in to the whole "wolves" idea.

This song comes right after "I Don't Love You Anymore" which leaves the patient feeling very sad and lonely, then this song immediately comes in, which is the Black Parade dropping him right into hell. Gerard and Ray said they imagine it like a jazz club with all the fire and brimstone like in those Looney Tunes where there were wolves playing saxaphone....etc. Hence the name "House of Wolves".

I love how the song starts out all slow and the Black Parade voice is saying "I know a thing about contrition...hey hallelujah..." like all these thhings about atoning for sins, and I just imagine the patient standing there, still sniffing a little from crying, and going "huh?", then the ground opening below him and falling right smack into this night club in hell. Anyone seen The South Park Movie? It reminds me of the part where Kenny goes to hell.
So the patient is in hell, seeing all these creepy things and he's like "NO!!!! Ohmygod I'm going to hell! Please, please...someone tell me I'm an angel...tell me I'm going to heaven" then people are kicking him around and people are creeping on the walls, chasing him...all this crazy shit to scare him, make him see where he's headed to if he doesn't change.

My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics 17 years ago
TRASHVILLE SUPERSTAR- Gerard said queen was a huge influence for the album. There are several parts in the album that sound VERY Queen-esque, especially the scream in Without You is How I Disappear and the lines:
"i'm just a man, i'm not a hero
just a boy, whos meant to sing this song
just a man, i'm not a hero
i, don't, care"
in Welcome to the Black Parade are very dramatic and Queen-esque, especially the guitar riffs. The whole song reminds me of Bohemian Rhapsody and We Are the Champions

My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow there's a lot of assoles on here.
Ohwell, back to what I do.

This song is when the patient finally dies. Death, or The Black Parade, catches up to him. When he sees it, he remembers long ago when his father took him to the big city to see this parade and he was so amazed. His father said "son, when you grow up, will you will the savior of the broken, the beaten, and the damned?" Basically: Will you be a good person, and do everything you can to help the weak? But now here he is, suffering, alone...dead, and he's saying: Fuck you. Look at my life! I'm not saving anyone. Just let me go. (take a look at me cuz i could not care at all...i'm just a man, i'm not a hero
just a boy, whos meant to sing this song just a man, i'm not a hero i, don't, care)

I think the lines
"We'll Carry on,
We'll Carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
We'll carry on
And in my heart I cant contain it
The anthem wont explain it.

and we will send you reeling from decimated dreams
Your misery and hate will kill us all
So paint it black and take it back
Lets shout it loud and clear
do you fight it to the end
we hear the call to
to carry on
we'll carry on
Though your dead and gone believe me
Your memory will carry on
we'll carry on
and though you're broken and defeated
you're wiery widow marches on
and on we carry through the fears"

I think those lines are the black parade (maybe led by his father...?) speaking to him.
I think the lines are saying "people are missing you...really, they are. But they will carry on. We will all carry on. But now we have to fix you, because your misery and your hate will kill us all. I think the line: "and we will send you reeling from decimated dreams" is saying that they are about to show him a bunch of things that will send him reeling, fill him with sorrow: Hell, someone suffering worse than he ever could (from cancer), men fighting a war wanting nothing more than to go back home to their mothers and their lovers...people with broken dreams. (we will send you reeling from decimated dreams). I see this song as the beginning of his journey through time, his own life, and other people's lives in order to change his mind, make him appreciate life more. (think A Christmas Carol or It's a Wonderful Life)

Anyway, that's just how I see it.

My Chemical Romance – The Sharpest Lives Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree and disagree with paper street. I think that the patient gave someone else a brush with death. His lover. I think his lover got drunk all the time, and cheated on him. "Cause I LOVE all the poison away with the boys in the band" love meaning sex with the boys in the band. The entire first verse looks like that: "It rains and it pours and your (his lover) out on your own." She comes home and crashes on the couch when he has been waiting up for her...
Then he gets tired of it and thinks about killing her, or maybe does kill her, depending on how you look at it. "Drop the dagger and lather the blood on your hands, romeo." and the chorus "give me a shot to remember...take all the pain away from me." Maybe the girl gets drunk and cheats on his because she hates her life and can't cope with it, and he gets past breaking point, aims a gun at her, and she wants him to pull the trigger, to take the pain away. Just my interpretation. The great thing about MCR albums is that they definitely tell stories but they leave a lot up to your imagination.

My Chemical Romance – Sleep Lyrics 17 years ago
First of all, I absolutely love this song. I don't really think it has to tie into the story, but I imagine the patient having those same night tremors gerard talks about having, recollections of something terrible he has done in his past, which he isn't sorry for. I imagine him looking over someone who is having trouble going to sleep, crying over this patient who is dying, perhaps his lover, and he is on this odyssey (think of it's a wonderful life or A Christmas Carol), seeing them even though they cannot see him. He is watching this person crying him/herself to sleep, telling them not to be sad for him, just go to sleep. He realizes how much he means to some people, which puts him one step closer to actually appreciating his life at the end of the journey. Again, that's just what I see in the song.
