Oh my god, the first time I heard this song I thought, "This sounds nothing like her, It's so refreshing and new, but weird at the same time." I never would have guessed that this song is by her! It's a very catchy song and I could dance and sing to it all day! And there are very few songs by Ashlee Simpson I like. Anyway, getting on with the meaning: I think it's about her and this boy she is with and he could be acting abnoxious. When he says words they don't mean anything to her and it's just lots of noise thats clouding her thoughts and she can't even think straight because of it and she's saying for him to get out! He obviously doesn't treat her the way she would like to be treated and they argue a lot. All he does is yap yap yap lol. And she's sick of it. |

I just discovered this song just not on youtube and i can't believe it's been out this whole time and I didn't know about it, I love it! I actually can relate to this sone a lot, especially this point in my life. I think it's describing a time when Amy was in love with a guy but he hurt her so many times before, but they had their loving times too. It almost seems that after a long period of time he leaves and is far away from her and she realizes she still loves him, and he might have moved on to loving someone else. although she tries to be the better person she wants to be friends with him and make amends, and she thinks that she's being good enough to him. At the end they meet up and see eachother again, and she is falling under his spell again and no matter how much he hurts her, she just can't say no to him, she's completly into him, kinda sad but I'm the same way with someone. |

Basically, there were times that had meaning and they were fun and good, but somehow, or for some reason they all ended. Now there's nothing left to do, sad isn't it? "Killing time to make us stay" Apparently they want to stay so they look for things to do to give them a reason to stay. "Deadlight" means to block out light, so this holiday that they speak of is a dark and gloomy one. As for, "Memories in paraphrase" well, I looked up the meaning of paraphrase and it said, restatement of a text, passage, or work giving the meaning in another form. So I think what they are saying is they are trying to think of their memories in different ways. Analizing these lyrics seem pretty tough but I think I have a good idea of what the song means. Well, I saw the music video just now on Cute Is What We Aim For's myspace and what I got out of the video is there's this girl that's supposidly going with this guy (Shannt) but she doesn't approve of him always sneaking around with other good looking girls who seems to just be in it for the sex. The gf is constantly giving him dirty looks so that's got to mean she's mad at him. He's giving her looks like he doesn't care that she's mad. This must be because what he thinks he's doing is no big deal cause he must have told her before what he's looking for and he doesn't find it in her, so he finds it in more provocative girls. "You’re making something out of nothing And jealousy is the cause the causing of grieve" Also where it says, "And you’re on the gossip team", well, the gf tells other people about what he does and that's why the other girls are drawn to him, they like bad boys and he's one of them. In the video it shows everyone having dinner together and drinking wine, Shannt is looking at all the other girls and his girfriend is on the opposite end of the table. Whenever he's looking at the girls or his gf, he has a wine glass in his hand so you know he drinks. Maybe that's why she's mad at him, cause he's constantly drunk and ends up in situations that are unfaithful. BUT, HERE'S THE THING. GUYS WANT GIRLS THAT CAN CARRY ON GOOD CONVERSTATIONS AND ALSO BE IN THE MOOD TO HAVE SEX WHEN THE MOMENTS ARE RIGHT. But not all girls are like that. Either they just want sex, or they just want to talk all the time. That's what's happening in this song. Shannt wants both in his girlfriend..or a girl but it seems she lacks in the sex department or he can't find both qualities in a girl so that's why he turns to the other girls in the room they're in who just want him for sex, or lust. At the end of the music video, the girlfriend must have had enough of his habits so she poisoned his wine and when he drinks it he just falls back in his chair. So he was murdered. So with him dead, he doesn't have to keep on hurting her, having sex with other girls for the wrong reason, and the gf got her sweet revenge. |

Um. I don't mean to be a bitch but has anyone thought about commenting on what they think of the song instead of commenting on how the lyrics should be? I think it's talking about how a boy has a big crush on a girl but she's not as "rich" as much as he would like her to be cause he likes them pricey. So he just wants to pretend she is and she'll trick him. When he's on the phone with her in the beginning of the song, he's saying he can't get through and what is he to do. Perhaps he just can't tell her how he feels. So in the second verse, he's talking about it's much easier for him to write or type down how he feels about her and he's stressing over it. So some people would say that just coming out and saying it is better and that's what he should do but he can't...so his mouth is, of course, jealous cause he's using his hands more to express how he feels. |

So, if you ever met a person that changed your life forever ever since the day you met them and you fell in love with them, but never told them how you feel then this is what the song is about. This person is probably still with you or they went away but it's saying that you'll always be apart of them and they'll always be in your heart. Even though you pray that you'll someday get over them cause you know you have to, you just can't and you wonder why. You might end up marrying someone else or meeting someone else, but this person will always be your first love and you'll always think of them. And you regret not telling them how you feel but since you didn't what's the point of thinking about how it could have been. So if you love someone and you haven't told them yet, perhaps it's best that you let them know how you feel. If you loose an opportunity, you might loose a lot.
