The Smiths – Meat Is Murder Lyrics 17 years ago
it's been speculated that meat was necessary for the human brain to grow. but when I read these comments from the meat eating trolls here I seriously have my doubts. they write like gnat brained retards. but please, do continue. I love it when you make a spectacle of your low IQ.

The Smiths – I Know It's Over Lyrics 17 years ago
this song really makes me cry - it's so beautiful and saaaad.
to me it's a songs about loneliness but still clinging to the hope that one day love will happen - but at the same time believeing it never will (I know it's over) which makes him want to die (soil over my head). The story about the bride is an observation on other people's relationships, that aren't happy either - the husband might not give her any room, she will need a lover just to stand marriage.
And he has never really had any love at all - and when he thought about love the words that came to his head are wondering why he's still alone.

The Smiths – Shoplifters of the World Unite Lyrics 17 years ago
no it isn't about shoplifters and shirtlifters at all. I have an interview with Morrissey where he says that what he means is intellectual shoplifting, taking other peoples great art and words and using them to your own advantage. so - mhhh - quite autobiopgraphical, actually - since he "shoplifted" so many quotes from a taste of honey etc ;-)

The Smiths – The Boy with the Thorn in His Side Lyrics 17 years ago
I have this DVD where Morrissey walks around and chats with Margie Clarke and she asks him if this song was inpsired by Oscar Wilde and he says no, the thorn is the music industry, the radio stations that never payed their records and never believed in them - so if after all this time they still don't believe, what else can a poor boy do.
Intresting - I thought it was about something completely different....

Morrissey – I Have Forgiven Jesus Lyrics 17 years ago
to me this song is about a religious person who lost faith. the narrator has always tried to be good so that jesus will forgive him - and he realizes that he gets none of those things he prayed for in return at all. the world is loveless, he can't find love, and he gets old and his body falls apart. and he has to ask himself why jesus is making him suffer like that (do you hate me?). so he's angry and frustrated but forgives jesus for not coming thru. to me it's a quite good account on the stange religious belief that 'god is good' and if you are nice and pray then everything will be wonderful in the end - which I don't understand how anyone with open eyes can even seriously believe. jim morrisson said "you cannot petition the lord with prayer" and mozzer has forgiven jesus ;-)

Morrissey – In The Future When All's Well Lyrics 17 years ago
this has been described as a postive song by some critics but I see it as a totally sarcastic, truly funny song about always forcing ourselves to believe that things will all turn out right in the future. he's describing this as a sad game, and the longer you play it, the closer you get to the 'long long sleep (death)' before anything ever gets 'well'. so the message might be: stop fooling yourself about the future and live now. at least, that's the message I get from it.

The Smiths – Ask Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it speaks for itself, yes it's about shyness stopping you from doing what you want. but there's a very brilliant and funny element in it, I think. the first person is too shy to ask and the second person is too shy to say no (ask me I won't say now how could I)
so both these characters need to overcome their disorder or it's going to explode like a bomb instead of turning into love.

that's how I see this song.

Morrissey – Our Frank Lyrics 17 years ago
to me this song is about people who don't want to think and have any kind of meaningful conversations. they'd rather get drunk and smoke (until the colours blend ;-) and not hear about any kind of serious issues. (the world my be ending but I'm only human). sarcastic, funny and brilliant!

some people here say they think it's moz talking to himself, well it can't be autobiographical, really, since he doesn't smoke and likes deep conversations but dislikes shallow people who have nothing to say.

I definitely understand this as a gay rights song against homphobia.

The Smiths – Girlfriend in a Coma Lyrics 17 years ago
to me this is clearly a song about a man who beat up his girlfriend to the point of putting her in a coma. and of course, as all wife beaters, he says he never meant to do that.

Morrissey – Let Me Kiss You Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't think he hates his body - I mean - come on - people who hate their body don't slowly peel their own shirts off constantly for hours. The guy is almost a stripper... 'Sex on legs' is definitely true :-))))

Morrissey – Dear God, Please Help Me Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't at all think that this song is about Morrissey getting laid in Rome! Moz is much more brilliant than that and he's a storyteller. Why does everyone always think artists write about themselves all the time? To me this is clearly a song about religious sexual guilt and getting seduced, and then telling God how wonderful that was (since God is personified by the church, then he surely must have sex, or should have because it makes the heart free). Yes, Moz was raised a catholic but he hates the church.

Morrissey – I Will See You In Far-Off Places Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't know, but what I understand in it is that is talks about terrorists that believe they will go to paradise if they die as 'martyrs'. And that this belief is absurd.
