I think this song is about searching for and finding God. It really makes sense if you listen to it with an ecstatic visionary experience in mind. To me. Like when the Sufi dancers take pot and journey through their minds to the higher love of submission to God. To me anyway. I don't know if Squeeze took any stuff like that or not, but that song makes me wonder if they were into Rumi who writes religious poetry about experience of the divine, often calling God "love" or "friend" I know it's a long shot, but it sort of shouts this out to me. |
