Republica – Holly Lyrics 11 years ago
I agree. Republica were a fantastic band. Much better than a lot of Brit pop bands. It's a pity they were not more famous. Saffron has changed a lot and yes, time has passed. They still have tons of talent though.

M.I.A. – Paper Planes Lyrics 12 years ago
What she's saying is, again, something that only an immigrant could understand. We make visas? She's referring to getting fake papers since getting legitimate papers is impossible to some people. Visas in third world countries are obviously only granted to rich people, but poor people will still find a way in order to live better and survive. Also, she's making reference to hustling again and how many immigrants are constantly thinking about making money or showing that they are making money, as a way to show "success" in the new world. Great song and great reference to immigration by sampling The Clash. The chorus, in my opinion, is what Americans and Europeans think immigrants are about. She's making fun of that myth that we are all violent and criminals because, of course, the only reason we go to Europe and America is to "steal ya money" (another reference, by the way, to Bankrobber by The Clash, good work Maya).

M.I.A. – Hussel Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is about poor or struggling people looking to survive in any way. That's what the hussel, the bootlegs, the white shirts, etc is about; selling stuff to survive in the new country. "We got barrels in the sea, big enough to take a whole family", again, about immigrants trying to get to the new country in any way they can in order to survive or live better. It's interesting how Maya always presents the facts that Europeans and Americans refuse to see in so many ways. It's music by an immigrant for immigrants. Anyone who is an immigrant and anyone who's been to Queens, NY, can understand this song.
