To me it's when you feel like you're about to explode with anticipation from waiting for an answer. That's how I felt when I first decided to trace my birth relatives and I was waiting for a response. I had just met with my adoption counsellor and he gave me the "don't call us we'll call you if it's a go" line...I went nuclear for months and decided to stop hoping...but I'm still waiting. My friends say that there must have been a glitch, cause they usually don't leave you hanging like that. I don't know, but I'm too scared to make waves, maybe my parents got cold feet and couldn't go through with it. I'd rather not know, I'm too sentimental, I can't take the dissapointment. Anyways, that's how I relate to the songs. |

Sorry but it needs to be said: This site is not a forum for debates about who did a better cover ... Now for the meaning: I think this is about that realization that what you've been working for all this time used to be worth it (the effort in climbing a mountain - raising kids, keeping your family together) but given the personal sacrifice and the feeling that life is passing you by, you begin to reassess those choices (time makes you bolder) and consider cutting your losses and making a change (turn around) and if the partner were honest about it too (see his own reflection) he'd agree as well that there's nothing holding the two of you together and he'd willingly let go (give in to the landslide) |

I just saw the video today, I never knew it was a song featured in a movie, I've loved this song for a while, It's good to rave about it but I'm glad that some have put thought into the meaning of the lyrics since thath's what this site is about. I think this song is about an impossible relationship that is never realized except in their minds - we've all been spoken for - independant shame - indecision - hearts on safe that being said he has a gift awaiting her to brighten her on coming dark days and he hopes she will find it not quite sure why he can't offer the gift then and there and why she must wait to find it but I love the idea that he has been preparing something for her which attests to the fact that his feelings never wained although he was not at liberty to share them Another possibility is that it 's about the inevitable reality of death and seperation of two -If heaven may strike -Me dead on the ground in this case he has prepared something- a gift to outlive him and speak for him, proclaiming his love for her after he can no longer do it. |

| I concur with everygeek . she has quite a few songs that pertain to her child, pregnancy and miscariage. I beleive that the theme of this song is "unconditional love" the kind a mother has for her child. She is an adult that can shine, fly, love, stand without him, a parent is not suppose to be dependent on a child, it's the other way around. But still she craves to be with him, to hear his babbles, cries and songs...She is already complete but she loves and needs him by her side. I just had a baby and for me it was like falling in love with an angel God sent just for me, so I can see how this interpretation would fit. | |

| I think when she says her clothes feel like somebody's old throwaways, she may mean that the love she currently has feels worn and used, while he looks glamorous in his new found love. Maybe what she wants isn't necessarily his love but to look and feel as good as him. Then again she says she's adoring him...i dunno exactly what she's jeolous of. But she seems torn between truly wanting him to be happy and at the same time feeling negative that he's moved on. The way I see it when you love someone (I mean truly) their happiness is more important than yours but deep down inside there will always be some resentment. | |

It's blissful pop that's what it is: sweet, fizzy, not much substance, yeah the words are somewhat generic, BUT... it sounds great. I think that it is about letting someone go and living with that sacrifice but in the end what keeps you from dying or being completely lost is the memories you hold on to, the afterglow. But there's a message of hope here, because he says "I will find my way when I see your eyes" and "'til the blinding day when I see your eyes" in the meantime there's a looming sadness "bathed in blue" |

I like the point itsALLprogramMUSIC made about there not being openness between them. I also agree with Desaparecida that it's about two people who do not admit how they feel about eachother, b ut I'm thinking that it doesn't necessarily have to be because of fear - maybe they just can't express their feelings for other reasons. Yet somehow they know, cuz the air... |
