I saw a video on youtube of Mike playing this and he said that it was "about a divorce". Maybe his parents? |

Owen – Abandoned Bridges Lyrics

Actually, I have a theory of who Matt is. In 2000 Mike rejoined Joan of Arc and Matt Clark joined the band as well. They broke up after their How Can Anything So Little Be Any More? so maybe Mike is referring to the Joan of Arc break up. That might explain the last part of this song about Matt (assuming that he is talking about Matt Clark). |

American Football – Five Silent Miles Lyrics

Saw this from a youtube comment.
"Little known fact about the song "Five Silent Miles" -- the title is in refernce to 1) the time signature (5/4) and the hi-hat riff that is a references to Miles Davis "In A Silent Way"." |

I think the last line "or human" is suggesting that all humans are like that sometimes and it's just something that's inevitable for the human race to experience. |

Frightened Rabbit – Backwards Walk Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
"i'm working on erasing you
just don't have the proper tools
i get hammered, forget that you exist
there's no way i'm forgetting this"
It's crazy how much I can relate to this part. To me, it seems like he wants to forget someone but he can't bring himself to do it, like he doesn't "have the proper tools" to do so. So he turns to drinking to try to solve the problem, but he knows that won't work. |

Owen – Poor Souls Lyrics

This song makes me think of a guy that's at a bar or party and he's feeling lonely and depressed. Possibly lonely because he just got out of a relationship. So, he feels an exaggerated need to be with someone "I swear to God I'll die if I go home alone tonight." And he's drunk and doesn't care about the consequences. All that matters is if he's with someone. |

After the Burial – Cursing Akhenaten Lyrics
| 14 years ago
|
Akhenaten wanted to change the Egyptian religion and have there only be one main god, Aten. The people did not accept it and later after his death thought of him as an enemy. Maybe this song is showing how the Egyptians felt about him as a pharaoh.
"mocking the praised ones" could show how Akhenaten believed that the other gods were not important as to Aten. |

Owen – I'm Not Seventeen Lyrics
|
I think it could be about him questioning his religion.
"well I don't know why I'm here"
"I don't believe
in that which I can't see"
And he's beginning to think that things are pointless and wants to give up. He's not 17 anymore and he's grown up and out of the things he was used to. |

Shindig – This Will Be The Last Time That'll You'll See Me Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
The beginning is an excerpt from the book The Eye Of The Prophet
"Youth walked before me, and I followed it to a remote field. There it stopped and raised its eyes towards the clouds which were drifting across the sky, like a flock of sheep. Then it looked at the trees whose bare branches were stretched out towards the sky in a gesture of invocation, asking for their foliage to return. And I said: "O Youth, to what place have we come?"" |

Paper Mache – Kindred Spirits Lyrics

The ending of this song,"I don't know you, but I miss you,I don't know you, but I love you And i'll never stop searching for you" speaks very clear to me. To me it's him talking about his "significant other" whom he hasn't met yet and he knows he'll love her even if he doesn't know her yet and that he's going to keep looking for her. |

I Can Make A Mess Like Nobody's Business – 328 (Track 1) Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
The talking in the background is from the show General Hospital. This is what they're saying.
Dillon: Ok. Ok. Yes, the thing is my mom is like a totally rotten person, and...and she was horrible to you, and she tried every...every stunt in the book to try to break us up, but...she's my mom.
(Travis comes up to Georgie and Dillon)
Travis: The driver wants to leave.
Georgie: Wait a minute. Where's Sage?
Travis: Already on the van. We're just waiting for you two.
Dillon: I'll find my own way there, ok?
Travis: Whatever. Georgie? |

I really like how this song starts off with a phone ringing and a lady answering, then it jumps into the song. It's like this is the song he wrote to explain to that girl how he feels about what happened between them. I think that's it's supposed to sound like. |

Here's an english translation, but i dont know how good it is
God Bogov, the Lord возглаголал also calls the ground, from sunrise up to the West.
With Zion which top of beauty is, the God is,
грядет our God, and not in silence: пред It fire поядающий, and around of Its strong storm.
It calls from above the sky and the ground, to judge people:
` collect to Me sacred My, entered in a precept with Me at a victim `.
And heavens will proclaim Its truth for судия this is the God |

Owen – Good Friends Bad Habits Lyrics
|
I think it's about his friends that do bad things that only hurt themselves.
"they'll fuck like Wilde"
This is talking about Oscar Wilde who was arrested for gross indecency. At that time it was considered wrong to be a homosexual so I think that this line means that his friends refuse to save themselves.
"and indulge like hemingway"
To indulge is to do something for your own pleasure. Maybe this means that Ernest Hemingway used people just for his own pleasure.
"and die like hemingway"
Hemingway killed himself. So this is his friends fate. |
