Motion City Soundtrack – Where I Belong Lyrics 16 years ago
Love the hell out of this song. I've never been able to relate to a song as much as I can relate to this one.

The way I see it, it's about a battle against yourself. Shit keeps going wrong, and you get to thinking, and you just get stuck. People try to help, but you're not really interested in their help because it's just creating more problems within yourself. It's like..like you're stuck in this traffic jam that exists in your mind, and you just wanna get the hell out. You want to fix the main thing that's keeping you lost in thought, but you just can't get it right and you get frustrated, and you just give in to the pressure.

Yeah, definitely my favorite song on the album.
It's good shit.

Motion City Soundtrack – Even If It Kills Me Lyrics 16 years ago
The whole album is a story to me.

*Fell In Love Without You..he fell in love with a close friend, but was sure she didn't feel the same.

*This Is For Real..he knew he needed her. Not necessarily in a love manner - but needed her help to stay on track, wanted her to stay in his life because she somehow made everything easier.

*It Had To Be You..he came around to telling her how he felt, she felt the same and he felt stupid for not telling her sooner. They got together.

*Last Night..time passed, things went wrong, the relationship got rocky but still exists.

*Calling All Cops..he did something stupid that night, and he's worried he's going to lose her.

*Can't Finish What You Started..they talked, he realized some things, and had a talk with himself. Kind of a realization that he messed up, but isn't sure he wants to try to get better.

*The Conversation..still not doing good, he's thinking about the night they met & decides he needs to talk to her. It's the conversation that happened that night. She ends it, because she feels she's lost herself in his mess.

*Broken Heart..he's hurt, but wants to put the pieces of his life back together and move on. He still has so much to say to her, but doesn't know how to say it, and decides he's better off not saying anything. He fakes his happiness and pretends to move on, but the pressures build up and he basically says screw it, I'm not gonna try anymore.

*Hello Helicopter..I'm not sure about this one. I think it's a helping hand, or what he sees as one. Maybe drugs or alcohol.

*Where I Belong..He's really confused about where he's going and what he's doing, who he is. Every day is a bad one, he thinks he deserves this and it's "where he belongs".

*Point Of Extinction..He's lost, wandering, and hoping that she'll still be around when he gets the pieces of his life back together. He's kind of sick of moping and wants to try to get it together.

*Antonia..Not sure about this one. Not sure about any of them really, but, this is just MY interpritation on the album..

And of course, Even If It Kills Me..

He's decided that he really is fed up with being depressed about losing her, and that moping isn't going to get him anywhere. He's got a lot on his mind, and a lot he needs to get set straight, but "for the first time in a long time [he] can say that [he] wants to try to get better and overcome each moment in [his] own way". He really, really, really wants to get himself straight on his own. He wants to stop thinking about what happened and be okay.

I think this song is pretty much explains itself, and in my opinion it's one of the best Motion City songs...ever. The words say a lot, and it's definitely one I can relate to in some way, and I'm sure a lot of other people can, too.

Sorry, I kind of went a little overboard and ended up explaining my take on the entire album instead of just the song.

Motion City Soundtrack – It Had to Be You Lyrics 16 years ago
I think the whole song is about a close friend that somewhere down the line he fell in love with and she was "the one", but he kept telling himself otherwise, even though deep, deep down he knew it was true. (kicking and screaming and pretending we were wrong)

Then at the end, "I felt like a fool, now that I'm sure that I was wrong", he feels stupid for not telling her he loved her before it was too late, and now it's too late. I take it as the bit of him 'pretending they were wrong' was all through high school. Then the realization happens at her wedding, or when she tells him she's getting married. He just feels broken and foolish for not telling her.

OR...Same high school he's in love concept, but she ends up telling him how SHE feels, which happens to be the same. They get together and he feels foolish for not expressing his feelings sooner now without the doubt that she doesn't feel the same.

....what a messy explanation, but there's my take on the song. I love it, probably my favorite on the album.

Motion City Soundtrack – This Is For Real Lyrics 16 years ago
Definitely about coming clean from a drug addiction and having a person that's been there every time it was stated before that he was gonna come clean, but he's never fully committed to it before. But this time he's FOR REAL about it and is telling that person so.

I mostly get the drug part from the whole
"For a physical challenge
I'm notoriously bored
Intravenous delivery,
Electrolytes and more
Every time it's the same routine
Out with the bad,
In with the clean
Before I lose all motor skills
There's one thing you should know"

Seeing as intravenous means through a vein or within a vein or whatever, I just picture someone shooting drugs.

From the live version of the song, where that whole part wasn't so clear, what I got from the song was that he's REALLY in love with a girl. Which, I can still see that in the song, just related with drugs also.

Sherwood – The Best In Me Lyrics 16 years ago
It pretty much explains itself.
Girl's in California, boy has no choice but to go on tour with his band - and she understands that, but he misses her a lot sometimes and just wishes he could fly back to her; because she gives him the strength she needs.

OR girl's in California, boy lives somewhere else, and then the rest is basically the same.

Sherwood – Song In My Head Lyrics 16 years ago
I think it's about a relationship that went to hell because the girl accused him of cheating several once but he never did; he was always true to her because he really loved her. After it being proven that he didn't cheat, she'd apologize every time - he got sick of hearing it, though he loved her deeply, and decided to break things off and deal with the pain.
"but most of all don't apologize,
it's me who's got the demons to wrestle now"
Refers to his being sick of hearing it, and the fact that HE'S the one that has to deal with the pain of her not trusting him.

"There's a patch of blue in the stormy sky,
a memory of a brigher time,"
Refers to all the good they shared in their times, I see it as a very long relationship that started as kids and grew over the years.

"When everything was new and less watered down,"
The brighter times when they were kids, when she trusted him and they were pretty carefree (new and less watered down; they were young and things weren't complicated.)
"Before the summer turned to brown"
Before they started to grow up, before the 'seasons' started to change, that's when everything was good.
Then they started to grow up - she stopped trusting him; the end.

As far as the
"Don't say you can't believe it now,
That you're almost settled down,"
He's telling her not to say she can't believe it's over now that she's realized what she's done, her lack of trust in him. She swears she'll never do it again and wants him back;
"'Cause you'll be right here,
When I come back around."
He knows that she'll always love him; no matter what she says, so letting go doesn't hurt as much because he knows if he decides he wants to give her another chance - she'll still be there.

Alright, that's my take, I'm done.

The Used – Smother Me Lyrics 16 years ago
Well, it's definitely not a song I expected from The Used. And to tell the truth the new album was extremely disappointing to me, but I kind of expected it to be. However, the album's really grown on me, and I really love this song. It's really lovey and what not, but I like it. I really like Bert's singing voice, always have. His screams are great too, that's why I love The Used.

My take on the song;
The singer, Bert in this case, messed up and broke his girls heart unintentionally. He realizes he screwed up and how much he truly loves her, and is trying to get her to take him back because he KNOWS she loves him just as much as he loves her.

This song just amazes me completely. I don't know why, everytime I hear it I can just feel it all flowing through my veins straight to my heart. It gives me such an amazing feeling.

I really, really love the accoustic version that they have on the 'Remains" DVD. I got chills when I heard it. I get chills hearing the regular version. That accoustic one though, I don't even know how to explain the incredible feeling it gives me. It's one hell of a feeling though.

Seriously. this is an ALKALINE TRIO song. Not Hot Water Music. Just because they did a split together and this song was on the split doesn't mean it's Hot Water Music's song.

"Secondly, the be thankful for your fingers, at least to me, is reminding the person to be thankful for the little things you take for granted, something as silly as fingers"

That definitely makes sense. A lot of sense.

Alkaline Trio – While You're Waiting Lyrics 17 years ago
I never saw this song as a break up song. I've heard this sound hundreds of times over the years I've been listening to Alkaline Trio - and just last night did it really hit me what they were saying.

There's this girl that used to be my best friend, and some stuff happened between us a couple months back and I stopped talking to her -- and planned to keep it that way. I was convinced that I'd never be there for her if she ever needed me again, but a couple nights ago she was talking to a friend of mine about how she missed me and how bad off she's gotten without me around. So, I started talking to her again last night, because it hit me that no matter what..this whole time I would have been there for her if she came to me.

This song started playing last night, and it hit me that basically every word in this song is describing the situation I'm in now.

"There are some who say that it's A-OK if it makes you feel alright"
I don't think that's about drugs, alchol, or straight up suicide..I think it's about cutting. A friend that started cutting, not meaning for it to get so out of control "it's just way too bad, now you're worse than sad all locked up there inside" -- the cutting got out of control, and the person won't open up to the author anymore, like they used to, and all the author wants to do is help the friend. If the friend won't open up, though, they can't help.

Over all, I think this song is strongly about a friend, someone they care about a lot, that really hit a rough spot and lost sight of a lot. The author simply wants to help them get back on their feet, and prevent them from getting completely carried away with the cutting thing, which eventually would be leading to suicide.

I don't understand the "Be thankful for your fingers" either. That's the only line that I can't figure out.
I bet it something so incredibly obvious, and we're all just over looking it.

Motion City Soundtrack – Time Turned Fragile Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a childhood friend that meant a lot to him, possibly a sibling, but to me it sounds like he's talking about a girl he grew up with and at one point fell in love with her. That ever since that moment, he'd worried about losing her. He was "nervous" that their futures would tear them apart - as time tends to do to people.

I think the whole "being torn apart" thing ended up happening, but they still keep in slight contact (through e-mail or something?) and he finds himself thinking of her wondering if she's really alright like she says she is, and hopes she does the same for him every now and then.

Basicially, I think it's about a girl he grew up with, fell in love with, and lost touch with.

Is it truely about his grandfather?
I think that's really cool, sort of like a tribute type thing to his grandfather. You can tell her cared for him a lot. I love Lucero's music, I mean, it's just really incredible.

Alkaline Trio is totally increible. I'm not sure what the meaning of the song is, it could be a lot of things. Butttt

Could someone comfirm for me what exactly is being said here;;
"I never had a problem facing fear
But I'm done, over and out, my dear"

Is it but I'm done over and out?
Or is it but I'm done, over and done, my dear.
Or is it But I'm done, over and dumb, my dear.
---I thought for sure it was "over and done" but now I'm not so sure, someone challenged me and now it's driving me crazy.

I do believe that Bleed was a pre-released one..before the actual name was declared. Or something along those lines..in my MP3's, the song is called "bleed", but it IS "burn"

Oh, and by the way, has anyone seen the video for it? I don't like it -- it doesn't seem to fit the video right. Which may sound a bit strange, but, does anyone agree?

Burn is a wonderful song.

exthuse:
I think it is Derek doing backing vocals for that part. But I'm not sure. If you listen closely, it sort of sounds like Skiba. But then again it doesn't. It's deffinately not Dan..Dan has a slight lisp or something that makes his voice stand out a lot - in a good way, of course.

Alkaline Trio – Good Fucking Bye Lyrics 18 years ago
Alright, so there's an argument going on about if it's by Matt Skiba or the Trio. I think it's on Good Mourning, but I can't be sure. In the MP3 files I got from my older brother it's both in the Matt Skiba - Kevin Seconds (split) and in the Good Mourning folder.

But either way -- does it really matter? Skiba IS a part of the Trio, correct? So...even if it's by him alone, it's still by a member of the Trio..I don't know, I'm no good with making good points.

As for the song, itself.
I agree with ponderer. I think it's about him finally getting over someone. But maybe not someone, possibly something. Y'know?
Eh, whatever, it's an amazing song. Skiba does great work.
