First and foremost, this song is about Joni Mitchell. Both Page and Plant were infatuated with her.
I think the beginning is about being with a woman that treated the guy badly, and he is leaving to california to find another woman.
The jet plane part could be a reference to how all airplanes are the same and not special-maybe an analogy to how society is becoming conformist?
The mountains and canyons part could be about Californian earthquakes and how sunny it is in California.
He is trying to find a woman (queen) without a man (king) by her side and she also plays the guitar (as does Joni Mitchell).
The wrath of the gods bit could mean that he has gotten in trouble with the law and he can't get away. The white mare part could mean that though he is going through trouble, but he is still thinking about his woman.
Finally, the mountain of dreams part could be about how he has finally found the woman of his dreams and he is telling himself that it really isn't as hard as it seems to ask her to marry him or whatever.
I heard this song once when the girl I liked was in California and it reminded me of her very much.
