dear sheep, thanks for such a compliment, thats really kind... but i started from nill too. it's better to realize something late than to not see it at all... I hope you'll get to enjoy their masterpieces! I spend countless hours listening to metallica's songs, so they're kinda branded in my hear, and i can't resist whistling or humming when i'm alone... anyway, what you say is very true... music is free interpretation of someone's feelings, so according to your culture and level of soul, you will give a different opinion than others, because your soul is yours to raise and express, and it's the only thing that no one will ever be able to harm, as long as it bears honor pumpin' through your blood... however, i suggest you don't get involved with the happenings and events that occurr on the band as much as just download and listen to the music... it truly elevates your soul to higher standards of humanity... until 2000, i didn't even know metallica had a website.. i just loved their music and fortunately i did not get contaminated by the many commercial crap that shines around them... Meatllica, deep inside are not proud of this. | Well I just got steamed up when reading such a ridiculous comment... sorry i was just not in me.. anyway i'm a long time fan of good 80's music and metallica are the emblem of a musical orgasm... I don't think it's possible to grade their songs, cause they're all great, but i like1) One 2)Orion 3) to live is to die 4) ...and justice for all 5) eye of the beholder.... The music is so well structured.. the drums and guitars are in perfect harmony..I love ...and justice for all. It's their best album with Master of puppets... The band has matured musically and they're no longer kids... Their justice album is unique because it is flooding with anger and pain towards the world and system! The only way you can rip free from the conformity circle is to take conscience of it, stand up and break the walls of its bower... once you're out of it you will be stupified by the beautiful light of the vast universe that outstretched from that tiny self closed circle. that light will at first hurt your eyes, but when they get used to it's intensity, you can taste the full flavour of life and you can die having lived a worthy existance.... i believe this song tells of how hard it is to struggle out of that limited circle, and fills you in with the importance of fighting to free yourself of the chains of banality to please those who surround you |

North star babe, do you take full responsibility of what you have said? I humbly urge you to evaluate the meaning of the word "hate".. Metallica fully embrace the essence of music as free expression of your soul and feeling.. The language of hard rock and Metal is the perfect refuge of anger and rebellion towards what you may think is wrong, however let me illuminate you by naming some songs that have a softer, yet nonetheless profound, tone: for one, Fade to black, orion, sanitarium, ecc... try saying that these songs do not touch you within, they are the expression of a tormented soul, desiring to outpour all the fire trapped inside... If the tone is heavy and wrathfull that is because Metallica are fighters, and behind the group lies their philosophy of standing up for what you think is true and just... careless of the consequences it may bring to you, as reject or denial, because as i agree, it is better to live honourably and coherently, according to what you believe, than die having lied to yourself... so if you hate the coherence behind this discourse, the human virtues in their songs, you are expressing hate towards Humanity... Ddadutta, the guitar riff may seem repetitive, but check out the drums in the background... They're awesome, and whenever I play this song on the drums, I feel as if the Thing's spirit were in me.. It is just so heavy it charges you with amazing mad energy... It is the heaviest song composed till then.. and it juggles with energy and pulls all your nerves... It is a masterpiece and gives the right atmosphere to the paranoic and maddned subject treated |

The drumming is crazy, Tho Lars is a little sloppy, because of the speed and the pounding, he's a really good drummer. He really knows how to express is anger into the drum set... emotianal playing... This and Fight fire with fire are still the toughest songs to do, because of the bass drum rolling... This goes in paralell to the general anger and frustration in this song... Anyway this song is tooo damn good.. i love it |

just listen in sorrow and awe to the skill of the drummer in the first 1.17 minutes.. this song is really a chellenge for any respectable drummer and Lars seems to to give the best of himself here... It is a song dominated by anger, frustration and sorrow. The heavy guitar riff and the Bass drum rolls confirm this... i believe that if you take away the lyrics from this piece, the song will loose none of its prowess, and will still express the true pain and feeeling put in the treated subject.... Lars rules, and though technically he may not be at the skill of such drummers as Mike Portnoy, or Danny Carey, he is still my favorite drummer cause he has the ability of transmitting all his wrath and passion through his pounding... Definitively my favorite song in Master of Puppets There is no need for lyrics in such a masterpiece. The music itself expresses perfectly the feelings of the artists, no need to resort to words to fucking stain the beauty of it all..... It inspires you, charges you, then brings you to your knees in introspection... Music truly is the food of the gods.. The passion Lars transmits when pounding those drums is awe inspiring.. I learned to play the drums, shaping myself on Lars Ulrich, so I understand how he may feel when playing such songs... These particular notes remind me of the aftermath of an epic battle, such as Ragnarok, when scouting through the bodies you would recognize the fallen body of a loved one... i believe death is somewhere present in the interpretation of this song, as is confirmed by the fact that it was played at cliff's funeral... Matallica are gods of musical harmony and we shall never see a group of their like again, especially Cliff. The enrgy and inner passion spilt in this album is unique and metallica have lost it in time, also, maybe, due to the influence of rock... Thanks for reading my humble opinion |

All I can say is that i am nearly brought to tears whenever i listen to this song... Hetfield's interpretation of another man's pain is astounding, and he knows well how to communicate sorrow and depression. It's the same deal with Ulrich, who really pounds on those drums, as he were letting out all his passion and anger... this song cannot be interpreted without putting some soul in it, first due to the sad subject it treats, then as is suggested by the tone of the singer's voice, this song is liberatory and causes a particular effect, if heard when feeling down. Low mans lyric really touches your heart... as do many songs in Metallica's later albums, such as Mama Said or Unforgiven.... It seems that The evolution of Metallica's timeline, has lead the band to turn much of the early energy, anger and passion into the emotion, introspection and pain that their newer work bears. However i do not find this a song to seek out any particular meaning or message, as much as a song to be felt and appreciated. this is because if we are limited to the litteral meaning of the lyrics, and do not utterly taste the music's beauty, low man's lyric remains banalized... thanks for reading my humble opinion |
